Le Bilboquet - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
We were extremely disappointed with our fist time visit to the restaurant. Not only did your front desk not clearly understand my expectation when I asked to sit up front, and was given a sit on the side of the restaurant, but the attention to us and detail was terrible. As a frequent customer and user of this service, I was blown away of the lack of attention provided to me and my wife.
Last day in Dallas, found the place under “Great Brunches” and went for it. The foot traffic was heavy in and around the place, but they received us earlier than our reservation, steered us toward the small bar area and with minutes we had drinks and were seated.
The server Kavo was superb. Explained a few options to us and then proceeded to be attentive through the meal. The food was really good , salmon and bagel, lobster roll and a Cajun chickenpffering all served with truffle or shoestring fries. We also had some French toast rendition which was delicious.
I have no hesitation commending this place to anyone who likes the items mentioned above.
I consider myself particular as are my family and friends about where to dine out. The menu here has so many choices that it is hard to decide on a favorite. Whether you go for brunch, lunch or dinner, the food is delicious. The mood is jovial and not stuffy and attracts many age groups from mid 20's to 80's. It stays busy especially on weekends. As you look around the room you see people having fun and enjoying conversations with friends and family. The table spacing and decor create comfort and intimacy while not being too loud. The service is friendly and first rate without being intrusive. Edward, the GM, is a true gentleman and gem! He always remembers something special about you and enjoys pleasing his customers. My favorite place in town!
I sense if you are one of their regulars, you might be provided a different experience. Food was certainly the best part, although due to the hype of the "Cajun Chicken" I was expecting something that would blow me away. It was "good". In a nearly empty restaurant we were seated at a table that had the sun shining on it (and in my eyes) very brightly. When I asked for a different table not in the sun I was told that "they'd have to check because many times their regulars request specific tables". Always great to make new guests feel welcome when you immediately point out that they are not one of "your regulars". 1) maybe get sun shades since I can see why "your regulars" would know not to take that table, and 2) unless "your regulars" are all you need to keep yourselves in business, then perhaps make those trying your place out for the first time feel a bit more welcome? The restaurant was nearly empty, even after we were finished. Bread was not brought out to our table until requested and then the basket was placed on our table without plates / knives. The initial bill brought out was substantially higher than it should have been, but the waiter did come back and point out his error. Based on the clientele this restaurant serves, I expected a better overall experience... so the bar may have been set too high.
I took two friends, one of whom is French. When I made the reservations, I let them know there was one vegan. When the waiter came with menus, I mentioned this and they were not informed apparently. I was offered a vegetable plate. Better restaurants these days are mostly prepared for gourmet vegan options, but they were not. The plate they made was not stellar, not very flavorful. One guest’s halibut was poached and bland although the pesto sauce was tasty. I dine out a lot and I think the price did not match the value overall.
Sunday is brunch menu only.....they have some great french wines...service was strange...started us out in a rush..then slowed so far down we had nothing on the table for 15 minutes....not even drinks we saw sitting on the bar...truffle fries are amazing....and worth going just for them....
Worst thing about this outing was the half-hour wait to be seated, even after already making a reservation. We were very hungry and almost left. Our server was very friendly and cheerful though. The best aspect of the food was that it was not over seasoned or too salty. The taste was subtle and just right. The frites were very good, also.
This was the second time my husband and I have been here for Sunday brunch. We haven't been to lunch or dinner at Le Bilboquet. On both occasions, we had a great experience. The food was delicious, and service very good, especially considering they were very busy that day with a large private party. We will definitely be back. The Norwegian eggs with smoked salmon were especially delicious.
We celebrated our daughter's 15th birthday on Sunday with brunch. It was fabulous! We enjoyed sitting on the patio as the weather was perfect that day. I had the migas with chorizo. They were delicious! My husband had the French toast and fortunately shared. My daughter went with the lobster roll and said it was tasty. Of course, the mimosa I enjoyed rounded out my meal. This was our second visit and will certainly not be our last. Service was excellent!!
did not realize that I was making reservations for out door dining, I have probably made 100 reservations on Open Table over the past couple of years and never had the option of making the reservation for in doors or out doors. Not happy when we arrived but it turned out OK not too hot, the sun had gone done.
This is one of our go-to favorites for celebrations or dining out. We had friends from out of town for dinner here, and for the first time were disappointed. Le Bilboquet chose to open or raise the porch room to the open air and it was still in the 90's out - too hot and too much street noise. And then one of our guests ordered the foie gras as an appetizer and it had a bug in it. After bringing this to the attention of our server, they apologized for it, but still charged us for it. And our dinner was okay, not incredible, like it usually is. I think our guests were fairly unimpressed with what we considered to be our "neighborhood gem". We were disappointed for the first time.
