Le Bilboquet - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Our Valentines night was unforgettable at Bilboquet!!! Thanks to Edward and his AMAZING staff for the extraordinary experience. From the minute we walked in we were beyond happy to be here. The ambiance was set to perfection. Candlelit, beautiful flowers, tasteful balloons, soft white light, truly magical! We saw friends we were so happy to see. The food was awesome! The wine chilled to perfection. Rarely do I give a a 5 star rating, but this night deserves a 10. Thank you again Edward and Stephan for bringing your beautiful restaurant to Dallas and pulling out all the stops. We’re so happy and lucky your here!!!!
We made this reservation months ago, after the Trump Jr fiasco. I felt bad for them. Mavs game and Loop 12 being closed caused us to be delayed 15 minutes for a 6:30 pm reservation. (we called ahead to let them know we were stuck in traffic) the first thing the man running the front of the house said was “you are late”. that was not the way to start the evening. I asked him if he’d like us to leave? He said no. I pointed out there were 8 open tables. His counter was “you’ll see, we will fill up”. Again if you are put out tell us we missed our reservation and send us on our way. Maybe it was because I wasn’t wearing any fur? (By the way they held one open table for 1.5 hours)
We ordered the pate & the foie gras. The foie was sous vide, terrine style. Almost tasteless. It’s not the best way to prepare foie gras. Our server was very kind & offered to replace it. The country style pate was excellent. Hubs ordered a filet & frites. The frites were awesome. The filet was good, not great. I had lobster capellini which was excellent & just the right amount.
While we were eating our server spoke at length to the man working the front of the house, who shook his head no at her the whole time. Whatever she said he finally relented and she brought us each a glass of champagne. A nice touch on her part.
We ended with a fantastic dark chocolate mousse. Sadly I don’t think we will return. We were not made to feel welcome or valued from the moment we walked in from the front of the house. It’s a small place with a capacity of 49, so I understand the need turn over tables quickly. However I don’t need a scolding. There are too many other French restaurants with better manners at the front of the house.
Our over experience was good. We arrived a half hour before our dinner reservation, thinking we could have a drink before dinner. They do not have a bar. They do have a sister restaurant that we could have walked to, but it was a cold and damp day. We were able to have a drink at our table. I am a huge fan of Duck Confit and would rate this dish average. My husband had the Ribeye and enjoyed it.
The table we were seated at was reserved for 7PM and our reservation was at 5:30pm. We felt pressured to be sure we excited this table by 7pm. We were offered a table that less desirable. Bread served was disappointing for a restaurant of this calibre. Heavy and definetly not a lovely French baquette.
Reserved on Open Table to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Without any reminder the waiter surprised my friend with a delicious dessert and sparkler. Noticed an adjoining table received a dessert. They were given individual plates. Each guest was given a plate so that a scoop of dessert could be enjoyed without putting two spoons in the dessert.
All in all, a lovely lunch!
My wife and I went here for brunch. We enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. They had excellent drinks and the entrees were delicious. My wife had the Cuban lunch and I had the French toast. The service and ambiance matched the food - excellent. We will definitely go back.
Disappointed after being a loyal customer since you opened that I was seated facing the wall next to a column. My luncheon guest arrived before I did and even mentioned that the table was less than satisfactory. I have done everything in my power to get Preston Hollow customers back to Le Bilboquet after the trump fiasco, and now I wonder why I even tried. I contacted Stephan about my horrible lunch experience at Up On Know without reviewing the restaurant because I did not want to say anything negative, well since my patronage is no longer appreciated, will not try to save your reputation with your Democratic patrons anymore. I am far from the wealthiest person in Dallas, but my contacts and clientele list is one of the best in all the Metroplex. Terry Cummings
Tried to enjoy the country Pate but was disappointed by the lack of developed flavor.
Went on to the Foie gras expecting creamy perfection and it was too cold and slightly stiff. The brioche however was good and the service is spot on
We finished with the evenings special offering of scallops over risotto
I finished mine but my wife couldn’t due to the saltiness of the risotto.
We went in with high expectations and that never helps a meal
Better luck next time
(If there is one - dallas is blessed with truly great cuisine)
Sadly, we we put in a side room with only one other table of diners ; the main room was vibrant and alive with good ambiance.
It was embarrassing for me - I took clients to the Resturaunt because I have enjoyed it many times with my local friends .
We felt like the “ poor relations “
I am puzzled why so often bookings through open table get sub par seating
This is starting to concern me
We were celebrating my sisters birthday. It was the perfect venue. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere was divine. We felt like we were in NYC, one of our favorite places. We plan to make this a regular event, and start celebrating everyone’s special occasions here. 💗
