Big fan! Love it! Bateau Ivre is the real thing - a lovely neighborhood French reliable restaurant.
Outstanding meal, comme toujours. Love this restaurant!
Delightful spot with excellent service for the 4 of us (2 grown daughters who are New Yorkers and their sophisticated San Francisco parents. Coq au Vin (a special) was a stand out and moules were wonderful with perfect french fries and savory, rich broth. Lovely champagne. Once again we felt as if we had escaped for a few hours to a sophisticated bistro in France.
We love the restaurant. Sam K is a very polished server. He made great recommendations and told us the meaning of the restaurant name and decor. He suggested a marvelous wine. We have dined here many times and have never been disappointed. This time I had the boullibase which was chock full of fresh seafood and sauce. My husband had the bean IMO which was moist and tender. The vegetable accompaniment was excellent. We shared the warm strawberries over ice cream. A delightful experience. Looking around the other diners concurred.
Oh my. I'm hunkered down in upstate NY. I miss the drunken boat. I'm at least a 10 year veteran and there were times when I was lunching at this restaurant close to every week. You always saved the corner table for me. Great food, wonderful staff and chef, and an atmosphere that is unmatched anywhere I've been in half a century. A small space where one could savor life for an hour or so. It must be so hard for all the staff that has cycled through this restaurant over the years; we wish all of you the strength to get through to the other side of this crazy time. Here's to a flute of sparkling rose, to the wonderful French Onion Soup, to six Bluepoint Oysters for my friend Stuie, or a Confit de Canard or roasted chicken with root vegetables if you are really hungry. Chef Hebert, hoping you and family are safe. Youen, Atman, Tatiana, Natalia, Chris, Samuel, Gamzai, Julian, Radda, Charlotte, Pobanna, Katia, Julia, Marguan, Eric, and the warm and smiling Nina-who I will never forget: thank you all for your service over the years, wishing you all the joy of a life well spent and hoping you are all getting through this with your finances intact. Thank you for some very fun times.
Diners: If you are in NYC, think of throwing this restaurant some business. It is one worth preserving for when we come out the other side.
Great French wines with free tastings if you arrive before 6 PM. Menu is a little limited, but food is well prepared. Friendly service and atmosphere.
Le meilleur Bistro Parisien de New York, cela fais vraiment plaisir.
Food and service were terrific. Great place to meet friends for dinner without having to go to Paris.
SUPER nice staff. Good food. I'd personally prefer some French Bistro music playing the background.
Valentine’s Day. Great as always
Felt very French and wrlcoming
A lovely Valentine’s Day meal despite the crowd.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Just the right balance of good food, charming atmosphere and priced appropriately. Thank you for always providing a fun experience.
Music too loud. Duck L’orange too sweet.
Great service and ambience. The trio for the Sunday Jazz brunch is terrific. The food is good, classic French bistro cuisine. I highly recommend Le Bateau Ivre.
Sadly there's nothing French left in this restaurant. No chef, no waiters.... Still has an impressive French country menu but the quality was hit and miss and mostly miss!
Dinner at Le Bateau Ivre is always an enjoyable experience. The food - classic French bistro fare - is always delicious, the wine is always great, and the ambiance is perfect. It’s like you’re transported from Manhattan to a tiny side street in Montmartre for the evening. I always recommend this restaurant for a lovely meal!
Warm, welcoming can’t wait to go back
A really enjoyable dinner. Very authentic French bistro. Every dish was excellent and the service was attentive and friendly. The only negative was a very strong cooking smell from the kitchen which gave us an unwanted reminder of the evening afterwards. If they could give their ventilation some attention this place would be just about perfect. I would definitely return.
We have been dining here for about four or five years, but we upped our choices to the more expensive items on the menu and the specials. W always love our croque madame and their wonderful burger, but we discovered that the chef shines at the things like foie gras, filet mignon, and rack of lamb. The food is great. The wine list is wonderful. We rarely make it to dessert, because the first courses are so good.
Too loud and too cramped for a nice dinner with someone you want to talk to. Better lunch option
Love this restaurant totally a French experience !!!
While the food was quite good, but the service was rushed and somewhat cold. We were handed menus as soon as we sat down and before we had much of a chance to look at them, the waiter came by to take our orders. Halfway through the meal, rather loud music came on making it hard to talk. And after we finished eating, the waiter came by and asked us if he could bring us the check. He then stood by waiting until we paid it, which we did pretty promptly. What I resented was that he informed us at 8:30 that another party had booked our table for ten minutes later. Meanwhile no one was waiting and there were empty tables. While the food was good, the service could have been far warmer and more welcoming. That's not the case at Deux Amis, another French restaurant with equally good food very nearby.
The most amazing menu and wine list. Our server made it even more special. The smoked salmon was silky and had just the proper amount of smoke. The duck confit was impossibly difficult crisp and tender. The lamb chops were so flavorful. The caramelized strawberries were a contrast of sweet and sour over creamy ice cream. The wine was perfect. What a way to start a New Year. Love this restaurant
Delicious food (although I wish there was a greater menu selection - for example, there are NO veal dishes), extensive French wine list, and caring and patient service. Worth a detour!
Lovely french bistro, excellent service by the staff
Cute place with a great menu and wine list. The food was outstanding and the wine pairing recommendations the manager made were spot on! This will definitely be a place that my wife and I will come back to!
Le Bateaux Ivre, or LBI as my gals and I have dubbed it, is always amazing. Food, service, atmosphere and ... the wine list!!! It’s our go-to for ladies night and also date nights.
Been going for 14 years...food was better than ever... if your lucky you will get Sammy as your server. Knows his wines and very helpful
Le Bateau Ivre is consistently delicious, cozy and charming. Can’t say enough about the wonderful service we had the other night. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
This is an exceptional Turkish restaurant.
The restaurant itself stylish and modern,
the food exceptional, and atmosphere and music lively, with the wait staff occasionally breaking into dance. My only criticism is the price of the food.
Relaxed ambiance, good service, very good food, nice diversity in the wine list.
We went for lunch during the work day. Always a delight.
Live jazz while having brunch in a great atmosphere .
Great time was had by me and my daughter.
Way too loud. Piped in Music. Over crowd noise. Just uncomfortable.
Food service OK. Expensive almost $100 for one salad one mussel entree 3 glasses wine.
Le Bateau Ivre is a great place; perfect for my needs on Manhattan Island. My only suggestion is that diners learn about the hours that their Jazz Trio performs, as conversation can be difficult. I reserved a table for a family dinner. Everyone was exceedingly happy with steaks, salmon and duck plates. Earlier I had Onion Soup, which was perfect! This restaurant is immediately east of my preferred POD51 hotel, and is open 7am to 4am. The waiters are accommodating. I strongly recommend this restaurant!! In addition to being a great place to eat and drink, it is a touch of Dijon and Paris without leaving this island.
It only gets better with every visit. Our server, Aurat, was so attentive despite he was playing to a packed house. He was great with wine suggestions and offering tastes. The salmon was silky and delightfully smoked. The calamari was tender and the radicchio tender. The live music had everyone mrlloe
One of my favorite haunts when I am in the city. Dinner there always cheers me,
Every time in NYC I go there and it’s consistency great. The food is high quality and it’s very cozy. Some live jazz on sunday.
