Le Bateau Ivre
Fresh food, wine list superb , great place on Sunday afternoon
I enjoy dining here. Whether it is lunch or dinner their menu selection is excellent. Their wine list by the glass or the bottle is extensive. It’s nice to dine in a French bistro right here in Midtown East Manhattan.
Exceptional food, presentation, pacing, and atmosphere. A bit pricy, but worth it. Will go back.
Best restaurant in town!!!!!
Steak Frite the best of the world!!!!!!!
Samy IS THE BEST ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great food , beautiful setting . Our waiter was abrupt with wine suggestions , not very attentive . However , the food was excellent. Healping plate of mussels , well flavored salads . The chicken with mustard sauce was perfectly cooked .
I arrived and they said they had a leak. They had made no attempt to let me know of this problem and didn’t then let OpenTable know so that I was given a threatening email about my not showing up at their restaurant. I was very disappointed in the whole experience and the restaurant’s complete lack of responsibility for their issues!
The foie gras was the real thing! It's so hard to find authentic foie gras anymore, so this was a delight. Only downside was they don't serve cocktails, just wine and beer.
Pleasant atmosphere and good food. A perfect place for lunch in midtown - one can actually have a conversation.
Visited for Sunday brunch. Loved the outdoor seating. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
The food is delicious; the wine was wonderful, and the service attentive and sweet. Love this place!
Delicious breakfast,a cozy place.
Always a wonderful time and great food
Great food and service! Good neighborhood find.
Enjoy the meal each time I eat there. The restaurant makes meal feel like I'm eating at a bistro in St. Germain.
Always great food - late night hours perfect for after-Theater dining - like a trip to Paris without jet lag!!
Loved everything! We will definitely go again! Thank you
unfortunately there was a party of 10 young adults having dinner while we were there . the noise level was terrible as the seating area is rather small. check for large parties before booking. otherwise restaurant is an excellent venue a with good food and service at a reasonable price
Brought w work colleague. A great place to have a nice selection of French wine at reasonable prices! Great attentive staff
This restaurant is a hidden gem. A fixed price menu at lunch and fabulous food and presentation. I hope it doesn't get so crowded that we can no longer get a table!
I have a meal here each time I visit New York. Once again, they did not disappoint. The orange duck and garlicky lamb were superb and complemented by great wine. Service was charming. I look forward to my next visit!
Had the prix fixe lunch. Onion soup average , omelet average, crème brulee above average. Wine ,Guigal red St Joseph excellent. Would try cheese plate or charcuterie next time. Wine list is extensive and fairly prices. I am very familiar with French wines and was impressed by the selection . You can take a trip thru France. Wish food was up to the wine.
I will not return
Food and service good tho a bit expensive
Been there many times
A very small space
But piped in music so loud that it was not only uncomfortable but painful
Couldnt converse across an 18" table.
Been to France many times. Never in any bistro/restaurant any recorded music.
Why this otherwise decent place feels the necessity of rock concert/
runway noise is truly beyond me.
Food was not that great. Over cooked and under seasoned seafood (bouillabaise), duck salad was just OK, french onion soup was good. Service was prompt bit only marginally friendly.
The food was quite good. The service was adequate. The noise level was borderline unbearable.
Great classic dishes in a classic French bistro ambiance.
Delicious and authentic French food (I had the French onion soup), accompanied by perfect New York jazz over brunch on Sunday. Great experience, will definitely go back.!
Second time we dined here. Fabulous brunch, fine selection of wines and service was excellent .
Loud but delicious!
This has been my regular spot for Sunday brunch for years. Why? First, because of the amazing guitarist, Andy Friedberg, and his guitar trio. Most every Sunday (except when Andy is out of town) they are there from noon until 4:00 playing jazz that is both pleasing to listen to and of exceptional quality. Apart from the music the wine list is absolutely phenomenal and the food is excellent. By the way the tarte tartin is the best I have ever had everywhere and is filled with plump, juicy apples atop a paper thin crust.
Given the $$$ and reviews, I was expecting a top notch experience. Instead, the food was so-so, and the service matched the food. We were the only table that didn’t get bread. And our waiter seemed annoyed when I told him we were celebrating my daughters 16th bday and asked him to take our photo. What was even more annoying was that I had no idea he was taking the photo, so I was cleaning food out of my teeth when he took them. I asked him to take another photo and he said he got plenty. Yeah, plenty with closed eyes and no smiles. So we didn’t get any photo. Given that we traveled all the way from San Francisco this week to celebrate her birthday, I was more than disappointed in our experience. I would never go back here or recommend it. Thanks for a sub par 16th birthday dinner.
Always fantastic service and food. Wine list is amazing and very reasonably priced.
I enjoyed everything about the restaurant, as I gave it a perfect rating!!!!
This was the first time we've had Brunch here, although we've had dinner there many times since we live only a few blocks away. The food was "okay," but nothing special. The jazz was terrific, though a bit loud. Despite the fact there was only one waitress, service was almost non-existent, even though there was only one other table occupied during the time we were there. After ordering, we had to remind the waitress that we had ordered Champagne, and had been waiting a while. She forgot ketchup for the fries, never asked if we wanted anything more to drink, didn't refill our water, etc. Had to signal constantly if we wanted anything--even the bill. I guess dinner is the only time to go.
We so enjoyed the experience. Friendly intimate and the food was just fantastic. Great foie gras and mussels and my husband said it was the best cassoulet he has had by far. We definitely hope to become a regular.
We had a good time and enjoyed the food. The music was very loud and made conversation hard. I just don’t see why you need to turn it up so much. It’s not as if loud music is a common feature in a traditional bistro. Please just turn it down.
Poor ventilation. Clothes smelled like the grill after dinner. Steak good, duck breast with orange sauce soaked in sauce not so good
Warm, solid service good food and a relaxing atmosphere.
The food was well prepared and very flavorful. We were greeted right away by the hostess, and she remained quite attentive to our needs the entire evening. The restaurant is well appointed with French posters and accessories creating the strong impression of a Paris bistro. I’d strongly recommend this restaurant to friends and colleagues visiting NYC.
