This is a very cute Village type of restaurant. A solid French menu with a very good kitchen and excellent service make this a very good choice.
Absolutely would recommend. Reminds me of many wonderful bistrots in Paris, only the noise level is not as low (but this is America where people shout into their phones and thus shout at each other even when sitting across a table). Food is excellent with a most accommodating staff. This is my second time there and now it will be my go-to place, especially with out-of-town visitors.
Second time I’ve been and would not hestitate to go back. Great food, (we had steak tartare, lamb merguez sausage and chicken cordon blue plus a pitcher of bellinis), cozy decor and the service is friendly and professional. A new fav of mine!
Almost don’t want to say how good it is so word doesn’t get around!
Very enjoyable. Great menu, service, and food. I would definitely return.
Our server, and entire experience was wonderful! Love this place!
A miniature Paris restaurant on Greenwich Avenue. Delightful!
Easily the best coq au vin I ever had, which includes several I had Paris.
I love this place! The staff and the owner are so friendly and the food is divine!
The food was great! Fairly high energy and noise level.
Wonderful way to celebrate a birthday with a large group. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. Great brunch menu. Highly recommend
The crowd was young and the noise level was intense. The food was good and the menu varied -fairly priced. I would return but only for an early dinner. The tables are crowded together in a an intimately sized restaurant with only moderately welcoming staff.
Reserved table online with OpenTable an hour & a half in advance, for a Saturday evening at 5:45pm on the early side. Was happy to find only a few tables taken & the bar was busy. We were promptly seated at a small corner table in the back. Our waiter greeted us quickly & announced the specials. My daughter & I ordered 2 escargot apps, which were ok. We love escargot but found them a bit too salty & chewy, however the garlic butter, bread & pesto were perfect. Next we dined on 2 onion soups which were delicious. We ordered the Steak Frites medium rare with a side order of the haricots verde - all were spectacular & perfectly prepared. While we were a bit disappointed with the escargot, everything else was wonderful. We’ll be back! Hoping a special cassoulet will be on the menu.
Excellent service they made us feel special
Like being in France and the West Village at the same time only friendlier
My favorite restaurant in the west village, possibly nyc!
Fantastic food, great service, and the owner is a very nice guy!
A wonderful evening to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Warm and welcoming host, cheerful
ambiance and great food - I will certainly be enjoying other dining experiences at Le Baratin
and will recommend to my friends -
Mostly a review for my French friends...TOP!! Très bon pâte maison, steak frites à tomber (sauce poivre), tartare top. Bref un bon moment dans Manhattan avec un petit bout de la France.
If you're short on time and money, just travel to Greenwich Avenue instead of the 6th
arrondisement in Paris, and you'll be able to enjoy an equal experience. The escargots were just as
they should be, the beef bourguignon perfect, coq au vin terrific , pan seared foie gras just
like the left bank. And the crème brulet should not be missed. No antiseptic glass and chrome
environment here; just a rustic brick wall, small bar, and lots of happy diners. Simple wine list
is very affordable. Service can be shakey, but who can complain?
Had been here before, but had forgotten how noisy this place is. This time I'll remember. Too bad because the food is pretty good. I can't believe that so many New Yorkers gravitate to restaurants that leave your throat feeling like you've been to an N.F.L game
We live in the neighborhood and finally got here to discover it's like eating in Paris. The menu is large despite the place being rather small. Everything was delicious. We had the tartare, onion soup, mussels and hot platter, finishing with an incredible creme brulee and chocolate mousse. Can't wait to go back. Our waiter, Gabriel, was wonderful and turned up with complimentary champagne. We'd loved him even before that. The noise level bothered us a bit, but that's true many places.
Very intimate space. Strong menu. Great for meetings.
Food was great.
Service was good, however, there were times when every employee was in the kitchen. Coffee machine was broken which was a bit of a bummer for a weekend brunch, however, they were happy for us to go to the (outstanding) bakery next door to get it and bring it back to our table.
Pricing is super reasonable.
No lines to wait in.
So, if you are looking for a low key, but tasty brunch in a circa 1981 W. Village restaurant, this is a great place. They were even ok with us sitting down before our full party was present.
Fine, traditional French meal for three people from Paris.
Wonderfull place ! Amazing foot and very friendly team . If you’re near , you have to stop there !
Best French restaurant in NYC! I could eat there every night.
One of favorite casual get-together spots in NYC - great food in a casual atmosphere with friendly staff.
Great traditional French menu in a cozy quaint environment. Very authentic. Delicious salads. Salmon tartare and skate. Lovely welcoming service
My favorite place! Delicious food, cozy ambiance and a staff that makes you feel like family!
Simply the best -- love the food, love the staff. Highly recommend!
Amazing food. Very unique place. One of my favorites
Nice French food in a friendly place where French people frequent.
Amazing as always! The food and service can’t be beat. Would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, cozy French place.
Great food and small cafe vibes. Love.
Went for Valentines Day. Food excellent as always. Service great
Guess we've found a gem. All dishes we ordered were so good and delicious, especially the foie gras was just excellent. No doubt will return whenever we will be in the city.
Truly authentic vibrant French local gem. Polished classic bistro food and great menu that is spot on. Transforms you the 7th arrondissement without the flight.
Salmon burger was delicious!
French 75 cocktail an absolute favorite
Love this place
