Coq Au Vin
chicken in a red wine sauce with mushrooms, carrots, pearl onions, bacon and potato
ny strip steak topped with your choice of pepper, bordelaise, or roquefort (+$2) sauce and served with pommes frites
with shallots, dill, olive oil and lemon
Funny how one of the things i miss from New York is a French Bistro.
These guys rock!!
Unreal for a bday dinner. Gets rowdy but great time
Great food and service!! Mussels and coq au vin were fantastic, and great wines by the glass!
As usual le Baratin was wonderful. Their trio of tartares (beef, salmon and beet/mango) was excellent. The salmon and duck were beautifully prepared and presented. And you know it is authentic when you hear French being spoken at many of the tables.
The food is amazing, I wasn't expecting it to be so lively. It's a small spot so need to make a reservation 100% if you want to sit indoors. I was dining alone and sat at the bar, every one working was super attentive.
The Marathon was finished and my husband’s 80th combined to make the place very celebratory for we 4. Excellent service and well prepared, delicious food made
it a great evening. Foie gras creme brûlée most excellent!
Very authentic French food. Great service! A little noisy & crowded, however.
Great food and great service - thanks Tony :-)
Absolutely incredible service and the food was even better.
I dined outside and received very good service. My Pinot Noir was excellent as was my Mango Beet Tartare and my Steak Frites. Could not have asked for a more pleasant meal out.
Yummy, very authentic
Love this place. GREAT food, GREAT prices. EXCELLENT service.
Phenomenal place. Great owner. Best in the city
Wonderful little french restaurant. We ate on the street on a bustling Saturday night. Great food. Nice wait staff. True french!
I love Le Baratin. Excellent food and atmosphere. My one major complaint is noise. There aren’t any noise absorbing panels inside. So if the restaurant is busy, it is extremely hard to talk to those at your table.
My absolute favorite place in the Village. They treat you like family!
Really wonderful French Bistro in the West Village. Would recommend.
Food was great. Look forward to going back.
Used to be my favorite French Spot in town. Sadly it’s not the same anymore, very disappointed with the food and service. Never again.
Rocky start-Table had to be set up over their sidewalk basement grating! A folding card table and folding chairs.
However, waiter was charming and we were comped two desserts for sitting outside in a torrential downpour.
Overall-a fun evening.
Got together with two couples for a dinner. Our waiter was courteous but very aloof. Multiple times our party ordered drinks which were not delivered. Our waiter would check in and say, “I will check on your drinks” and return with a new beverage. When the bill came, we were astonished to see charges for 10 glasses of wine, 9 vodkas & 3 tequilas for 5 people. We are not shy drinkers by any means, however, it was clear our waiter entered multiple rounds of drinks and neglected to deliver them to our table.
I brought this up with the waiter who suggested he was 100% certain he delivered me 3 tequila cocktails after I told him specifically how unsatisfied I was with the original.
Moral of the story here is that this place is overpriced and potentially charging for multiple rounds which were never delivered.
For what it’s worth, this is my first ever review due to my sincere feeling that it was necessary to let other patrons know to look out for this place. Will not be back.
I will absolutely be back when I’m looking to meet friends in the West Village. They service was amazing!
Very good french food. Authentic restaurant. The service is not the best because they have very few waiters. But it is still a good french food option!
Best service and fun vibe
Excellent food as always.
Great service and atmosphere. You can easily pretend you are in France! Classic bistro dishes but done very well. It is unfortunately noisy. Lots of people are having a good time there.
The best steak tartare I’ve had in recent memory! Felt authentically French with very attentive and friendly waiter. Sat outside and enjoyed the sidewalk/street scene. Inside is fairly small and somewhat noisy.
Cute spot, we sat outside. Inside was really loud so very fun if you’re looking for that. Cock bites were good. steak frites- honestly stay away, pretty fatty lots of tendons it totally turned me off. Mashed patatas - so good could be more buttery, but with the wine sauce was delicious. Great drinks. It started to rain, was a little upset that it took them 20 minutes to get us under an umbrella. Lastly, the ratatouille. It was good, but certainly not made by Remy.
Best place for the friendly French experience. Great food.
Had an amazing time, as per usual. Food, service, and vibe were 10/10.
So much fun
Amazing atmosphere! The food was good and then everyone started to dance. A real French bistrot.
After doing some searching for French food menus , I decided on Le Baratin for the variety of authentic dishes , as well as the positive results from other members. The staff was super friendly and they make you feel at home even if it’s your fist time dining there. As expected the menu was fantastic and the recommendations from our server where spot on. The cocktails where great and they offer a good selection of French wines at all price levels.
Authentic French menu , cozy small place with outdoor dining and excellent service.
We will be back !
The noise was horrendous! There were two tables of ten which produced enough noise for hundreds,
Fantastic, friendly, delicious go-to restaurant. I feel lucky to have Le Baratin as a nearby option!
We were seated promptly and pleasantly at an outside table. We had unexpected brought a baby in a stroller and they had no problem with that. The service was polite and attentive. Food quality was excellent and brunch entrees were delicious. We had a very leisurely and unhurried meal.
When the rain kept me in the neighborhood I couldn’t be happier to have ended up at Le Baratin, the foie gras Creme brûlée was so good! I had the duck breast for my main and it was cooked perfectly. I wish I had known that the veggies may have onions so I could have requested they be held, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And my goodness the chocolate mousse was so lush.
Excellent food and service. Outdoor seating was a bit primitive.
Best restauranteur in NYC!!
A true French bistro in Manhattan. Serves all the classic French dishes(coq au vin, boeuf Bourgogne, modules, etc) but they also provide some surprises. Our group had an endive salad with blue cheese and walnuts, a trio of steak, salmon and beet tartares, rabbit in a mushroom mustard sauce as well as the above classics. Desserts while not extensive were also classic(creme brûlée, chocolate mousse and a mini chocolate cake). While not inexpensive, it is still a good value based on the quality of the preparation, the old time neighborhood atmosphere, generous portions.
