Hand-Chopped Steak Tartare
traditional hand-chopped steak tartare served with pommes frites and mixed greens

Very good french food. Authentic restaurant. The service is not the best because they have very few waiters. But it is still a good french food option!
Best service and fun vibe
Excellent food as always.
Great service and atmosphere. You can easily pretend you are in France! Classic bistro dishes but done very well. It is unfortunately noisy. Lots of people are having a good time there.
Cute spot, we sat outside. Inside was really loud so very fun if you’re looking for that. Cock bites were good. steak frites- honestly stay away, pretty fatty lots of tendons it totally turned me off. Mashed patatas - so good could be more buttery, but with the wine sauce was delicious. Great drinks. It started to rain, was a little upset that it took them 20 minutes to get us under an umbrella. Lastly, the ratatouille. It was good, but certainly not made by Remy.
The best steak tartare I’ve had in recent memory! Felt authentically French with very attentive and friendly waiter. Sat outside and enjoyed the sidewalk/street scene. Inside is fairly small and somewhat noisy.
Best place for the friendly French experience. Great food.
Had an amazing time, as per usual. Food, service, and vibe were 10/10.
Amazing atmosphere! The food was good and then everyone started to dance. A real French bistrot.
After doing some searching for French food menus , I decided on Le Baratin for the variety of authentic dishes , as well as the positive results from other members. The staff was super friendly and they make you feel at home even if it’s your fist time dining there. As expected the menu was fantastic and the recommendations from our server where spot on. The cocktails where great and they offer a good selection of French wines at all price levels.
Authentic French menu , cozy small place with outdoor dining and excellent service.
We will be back !
The noise was horrendous! There were two tables of ten which produced enough noise for hundreds,
Fantastic, friendly, delicious go-to restaurant. I feel lucky to have Le Baratin as a nearby option!
We were seated promptly and pleasantly at an outside table. We had unexpected brought a baby in a stroller and they had no problem with that. The service was polite and attentive. Food quality was excellent and brunch entrees were delicious. We had a very leisurely and unhurried meal.
When the rain kept me in the neighborhood I couldn’t be happier to have ended up at Le Baratin, the foie gras Creme brûlée was so good! I had the duck breast for my main and it was cooked perfectly. I wish I had known that the veggies may have onions so I could have requested they be held, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. And my goodness the chocolate mousse was so lush.
Excellent food and service. Outdoor seating was a bit primitive.
Best restauranteur in NYC!!
A true French bistro in Manhattan. Serves all the classic French dishes(coq au vin, boeuf Bourgogne, modules, etc) but they also provide some surprises. Our group had an endive salad with blue cheese and walnuts, a trio of steak, salmon and beet tartares, rabbit in a mushroom mustard sauce as well as the above classics. Desserts while not extensive were also classic(creme brûlée, chocolate mousse and a mini chocolate cake). While not inexpensive, it is still a good value based on the quality of the preparation, the old time neighborhood atmosphere, generous portions.
The food was very good. The service was nice, attentive, but not overbearing. My one issue was that the coffee system was out of order - though we could have gotten coffee to go from the bakery next door. I appreciate that we were able to eat outside and still have a good meal. Thank you!
No heaters outside so go when it’s warm
Fantastic meal and service. A+
Love this restaurant food is always good and service terrific
This was our first time back at Le Baratin since Covid hit. It’s as good as ever maybe even better because with fewer table it’s not as noisy as it was. The steak frites, salmon burger and salade lyonnaise were as good as ever. The indoor dining area was totally set up for Covid-safety (and we are doctors). Overall, a great welcome to the new world!
We had brunch here and the food and service was outstanding! Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning soon.
Great food!! We also got to sit in one of the bubbles so it was super COVID safe
Best restaurant in New York for a fun birthday party
Always a pleasure eating at Le Baratin. Best escargot this side of the Atlantic.
Delicious food but was freezing inside. Drinks were great too.
Great appetizers and entrees. Tarte Tatin for dessert tasted more American than French though...
Overall great, will definitely go back!
A true gem. Love this place.
Consistent quality of food and its presentation. The staff makes you feel like family
Le Baratin is consistently an amazing place for quality food and super fun ambiance. I highly recommend this place for any type of event!
great, dependable neighborhood place . consistently great food. best people.
We love this little French dive so much! Full of regulars from the neighborhood. Beautiful menu of traditional bistro fare. Spoke with a twist.
For the price charged, I shouldn’t have someone sitting in my lap. There should be space to move into the tAble. Way too loud. Wine selection not great.
We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. Staff was great. Food excellent. It’s great for everyday dining as well. Highly recommend
Le Baratin never fails to charm. It’s like being in Paris at a local bistro.
This remains one of my wife and I’s favorite restaurants in the city.
Very disappointed that the menu changed and does not have any charcuterie platter anymore.
Get there early when it’s somewhat quiet—maybe 6:00-6:30pm. Then drink enough wine so the increasing noise level won’t bother you! The food is always terrific and the service is fine.
