I was looking for a french bistro to celebrate my mom's birthday. Le Baratin caught my eye and the 7 people in our party were not disappointed. Loved, loved, loved! My new favorite. The baked camembert drizzled with honey was to die for. Even something as simple as the frisee salad was great! We will all be back!
Le Baratin is a nice French restaurant with nothing special to write home about. The fare is typically French, with the Cordon Blue done OK - but not particularly well (was burnt at spots). Nothing seemed to stand out particularly in terms of food, service or ambiance.
I forgot I was in NYC. So many french people and memorabilia felt like I was in Paris after the French Open. The food is the bistro style fare that makes French food so famous. All simple, authentic favorites will bring me back often.
Everything was going very well until the manager asked us to leave our table because there were some people waiting. This is not what I expected from a French restaurant!
I love this restaurant. It’s like a sports bar, but it’s french, and it has the cuisine of a fancy restaurant.
Nice vibe and service. Solid, middle of the road food.
We highly recommend the salmon burger and fries-the best around. Other dishes are also very good.
A great spot for a casual dinner in the Village. Nothing too flashy, but the food was good. A reasonably limited wine list, but heh, a great place for a good time.
Food was delicious and service was amazing. Will be back!
As usual, our meal was excellent and our server attentive. Try the boeuf bourginonne and chocolate mousse. And of course les pommes frites. The steak, though very flavorful, should have been better trimmed. But of course we’ll be back.
Delicious food and great service. One of my go to places when I’m in Manhattan
Amazing food! Great service!
Love this neighborhood place! Food is fresh and plentiful and delicious!
Honestly this is my favorite restaurant in the whole damn city. Food is amazing, service is always great and it’s just such a cozy but energetic vibe here. Amazing date spot and great for birthdays too!
De très bons plats et des vins français bien choisis. Accueil chaleureux à la française. De tels plats mériteraient peut être que les Neworkais présents soient moins bruyants
Classic French dishes at this authentic bistro. French comfort food; both the coq au vin and the Boeuf Bourguignon were delicious as was the skate with capers. I lived in France for many years and would definitely return and actually have....three times.
A busboy turned us away saying there was no waiter and the restaurant was closed. We were told we could wait but there was no guarantee the waiter would show up.
Frenchy style restaurant ! Good food and good service. Prices are correct.
Love, love love everything about this delicious, chic French bistro.
Hanger steak was like something you would get on an airplane. Gloppy sauce. Meat was tasteless and over cooked. Pretty gross. Frites just ok. Side salad mediocre.
We, four, arrived at 6:30 and were promptly seated by our attentive waiter. We hadn't seen each other in two months, so lots of catching up to do. Our attentive waiter came over to see how we were doing, so we ordered cocktails and wine and enjoyed the bread a butter and chatted. On his second visit we were ready to order. The food was well paced and delicious. I have been here a number of times since it opened and have always not only enjoyed the food, but have always had good service and a good time. My friends (first time for them) want to come back...hope fully before the end of April. i highly recommend Le Beratin...reminds me of the the old West Village restaurants use to be in the 60s and 70s...small, intimate, cozy, mood lighting, good time.
Great food and service. Loved it.
Food, wine and service were fabulous! We had escargots, steak frites, poulet roti, boeuf bourgignon, crime brûlée and chocolate fondant. Best French meal I’ve enjoyed in years!
one this restaurant. Great onion soup, escargot, foie gras, and all their entrees.
A real French bistro
We love the wonderful classic French food at this casual venue--something not that easy to find in Manhattan these days. Try the boeuf bourginonne---wonderful....and the soupe a l'oignon...and the mussels..etc...etc. The wine list is a bit pricey, but the place and the meal are worth the expense.
I have been going to Baratin to celebrate my birthday ever since I can remember. Their food is like from a 5* star restaurant, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but the mussels and foie gras creme brûlée are a must. The French ambience is everything. It brings you right to France, with the modern New York feel. Lights dim around 8/9 pm and people often dance around (and on) tables. It’s a lot of fun! Definitely my favorite spot in the city! Make sure to make a reservation, depending on a weekend it can get very busy.
This is a great spot for good French food, in a fun casual atmosphere. We went on a Friday night and the crowd was a nice neighborhood mix of couples on dates and a group of friends celebrating a birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wish we'd had time to linger longer!
Everything was perfect -- our table for 6 people was ready when we arrived, our server was attentive and friendly, the food was divine and the wine pairing delicious. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience. We loved the fun sporty decor and got a good story from a regular about this being the unofficial headquarters of the French tennis players when they come over for the US Open.
Amazing restaurant. Would come back over and over. The food, staff and overall cozinesss was superb. Loved it.
As hoped for and expected. Perfect neighbourhood bistro.
Lovely neighborhood French restaurant with delicious & classic bistro dishes and an attentive francophone staff
Let’s start with the most important thing.......the food, the classics deliciously prepared. Then add to that the ambiance, the feel of the place, the ex-pats. All around good. We will return.
Our Greenwich Village neighborhood go to spot, excellent as always, feels like a casual Parisian cafe, great food, terrific staff.
I love everything about this restaurant! The food is always amazing, the staff are friendly and very competent, and the ambiance is wonderful. It's a beautiful setting, cozy and unpretentious. It's what restaurants in NYC were like in the good old days. This place is a gem!
Great place. Delicious food. Makes you think you are eating in a French bistro. Thanks !!!
I love this restaurant, warm inviting atmosphere, delicious food and great wait staff
