For a slow night, service was slow.
Excellent food. Laura was a wonderful server. A very worthwhile evening.
Quirky little joint in a quirky little location but would definitely go back here, especially in the warm weather to enjoy the patio and the view.
Tasty food, excellent service ,nice ambience ,what more can one ask for.
Food was wonderful...Good menu choices. Will go back again soon
Went for Valentine’s Day dinner. A very lovely, low noise restaurant. Was hoping for their bison patty but they had a special menu for the evening. Nile the food was fie it seemed rather overpriced for the portions received. Staff were only mildly attentive. We love this restaurant and will be back, they just weren’t on their game that night
Always love going. Nice friendly staff!
I love Chef JR and was excited to eat here. It was ok. The food was nothing extraordinary and I don't think it lives up to his standards. The burger was cooked perfectly but had no great taste and the goat cheese and "onion jam" was bland. The fries were very good, but the onion soup (a French standard!!) was overly salty and dull. It tasted like it was a few days old - good, but not umami yummy.
Truffle truffle McTruffle. It’s not bad, just not great.
Wanted a straw with a soft drink. No straws. Ordered an iced tea. No iced tea. Ground beef specials dry and tasteless. Once seated, took a long time for the waitress to come over to table. There were 4 of us. None of us will go back.
We have been to Le Bar A Boeuf several times and always have enjoyed it. This time the service was absolutely terrible including when I called in advance with a few questions about the menu. I should have taken that as a sign. We definitely understand that things go wrong but this was everything and no one cared. The only positive was the food was good. If upper management would like to call me, I would be happy to explain our experience.
Got multiple items wrong. The absolute worst.
You were out of all the fish selections and the eveing special.
Great location for dinner prior to Playhouse in the Park. Free Parking. Excellent, food, service drinks and dessert!! I saw a previous review where they praised the bartender's Sidecar cocktail....I agree! The bread pudding was huge and delicious. The burgers were great, although the boursin cheese was a little rich and probably not necessary. The burger with the Forestier sauce alone was fantastic.
Tasty! The charcuterie board was good, not great, but the accompanying crostini... super good. The Wagyu burger, creamed spinach and kale wrapped asparagus were all delightful (shared all with my dining partner). This is my second time there, left wondering why I don’t go more frequently!
Terrific food delicious cocktails great service
One of our favorite dining places.
Great server Laura. Trout almandine was prepared with steel headed trout. Shrimp appetizer with mushrooms, tomatoes, wine sauce was delicious. Hubby had the lamb burger with Boursin.
Food was exceptionally good. We had a superb server, which always makes the meal better. We had not been there for about 2 years, but we will definitely return soon.
This was our first experience at Le Bar and, since this is a Jean Robert restaurant, we were expecting to be Wowed. Not "L" wowed, or "Table" wowed. But "better than ordinary" wowed. Oh well. Our total experience that night was a solid "good" but not GREAT. This is an across-the-board comment, meant to cover the food and service experience combined. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Regardless, we will give it another go in the spring/summer season when the outdoor dining area is open.
First timer. Artichoke appetizer was fantastic. We had Callie risotto for our main outstanding. Crepe dessert Ed excellent. Torri our server was outstanding
The new chef is phenomenal. There is new life in this place. Flavors were so well balanced. We had Wagyu burgers which were out of this world and the toppings were perfect. From appetizer to dessert we had a lovely evening. Charming. Will be back very soon.
This was our second time here. The food was great and cooked perfectly. Our waiter was super attentive and took great care of our table. This was a great dinner and I would return again.
We love Le Bar and will go back often and have written a number of reviews in the past. This particular dinner was unusual in that we had six dishes, four of which were outstanding and two of which were not.
Both soups - the French Onion and the Veloute were the type I would order very time I dine at Le Bar. Our two different salads likewise. The beef tartar was less good for my taste. I have had the tarter several times before at Le Bar ( and elsewhere) and this particular preparation was different in that it was more like a mousse of beef. Others might prefer it. My partner ordered tongue; something she loves. For some reason it was very tough and so chewy as to be inedible. My suspicion is that this was a one-off error in preparation and will not happen again. The server was very understanding and replaced the dish for a different one quickly and without fuss . None of this took away from an evening of enjoyable dinning since we have had so many 100% fine meals at Le Bar in the past. We will return soon and will not hesitant to try the tartare and the tongue again since they have been quite good in the past.
One final comment: the restaurant is a great value in my opinion.
Food is delicious. Bartender makes a terrific sidecar. Service was fine. The building is old and tired looking. Radiant heat is suspect, the bathrooms need to be updated, and the parking garage is difficult to maneuver.
Tasty food, nice ambience and excellent service;wht more can one sk for.
We had tickets for Cincinnati Playhouse and with the theater just over a mile away this is a great place to have a meal beforehand. As usual every item was topnotch. My wife really enjoyed her bison burger creation. I had the special burger that night with beef, pork belly, tomato, etc and that too was outstanding. The service was great.
Had a great time!
Service from Matt was fun and very good. Food was expensive and good not great!
Always a great experience. Food is always perfect also.
Like all of JR's restaurants this is excellent. The food was wonderful and the wine list was very good and very reasonably priced.
First time visit. Service was slow even though only 2/3rds full at 7:15 pm. The specialty here is custom burgers...over 40 minutes to get two overcooked orders. Would have told the staff except she just disappeared. We ate, food not ruined, just overcooked. Finished our drinks, 10 minutes later wait came back and asked now the meal was, never asked on the drinks. We shared our view on events. The manager showed and was nice to make the meal a comp. Did point out the food had been sitting. Did point out the mayo for burgers was old enough to have film on it. She needs to spend more time in the kitchen...she was the entire time we were there up front at the reservation desk and did not check on other tables. Not impressed for a JR operation in Cincinnati. This places needs oversight it is not getting.
Food definitely was served room temp all five of us foodies thought
Sitting too long under a lamp. Disappointing. Meat was also dense and dry.
Restaurant severely understaffed and no one seemed even remotely concerned. Took almost 20 minutes after seating for anyone to even acknowledge we were there. They were out of several menu items and took forever for items to come once they were ordered. This used to be a favorite spot, but after such a horrible experience, would be reluctant to ever go back. STAY AWAY!!!
We had a pre play dinner and had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get to the Playhouse on time. Brady did a great job of serving under some rather difficult conditions. He was professional at all times.
My salad greens, duck leg confit, frites and Brussel sprouts were more than enough to fill me up--but I did make room for a pot au creme. A pre dinner drink and a glass of cotes du Rhone filled out the meal. My husband enjoyed his tomato salad, salmon, veggies and mashed potatoes equally as well.
We had a very nice evening at Le Bar A Boeuf. The food was outstanding. The service was okay--there appeared to be only 2 servers, and they were working hard.
Server needs more training. She told us that they have a new chef who is still trying to figure out ordering because they were out of some items. Service was not very attentive, food was average. Nice ambiance.
Le Bar a Boeuf was a good spot for dinner before a show at the Playhouse in the Park. Our server was great and very friendly. However, the price was not a good value. My husband got a burger with sauce and one topping and it was $21! not including a bun. My side salad was $5 and it was literally a small bowl of greens with dressing. Would not recommend based on value.
Everyone is truly wonderful here. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the air conditioning. Please get it fixed.
