Le Bar A Boeuf
Our food was perfect! We started with the snail appetizer (which was packed with these earthy flavors -- 👌); moved onto the seasonal salad featuring beets; and then I had the swordfish special, which was paired with this chimichurri sauce and artichoke, making the whole concoction melt in your mouth. My husband had a bison burger with goat cheese, (and some sauce), and he was equally satisfied! The cocktails were originally and fresh. Service was attentive. We highly recommend for a great date night!
Tasty food, excellent service, very nice ambience. What more can one ask for.
Nearby to downtown. Good parking. Takes reservations. It's a no brainer. Good food. A little too noisy.
Good value for the money. The calf liver was excellent. My wife’s burger was delicious. Nice spot to eat before you go to the Playhouse
Service was exceedingly slow. Salad course crane in 2 shifts. Then we waited over an hour for our entree. All tables around us were also having the same experience. They comped is with dessert, but I would rather have had dinner in a timely manner.
Service was friendly but slow and disorganized. We had to ask for every water refill we needed and were never asked if we wanted any drinks other than the one delivered at the start. Our food was good (not great) but arrived incorrectly twice for two of us and once for another person in our party. A few people were put off by everything being a la carte and/or an upgrade....including a bun or cheese for the burger entree. I could see the terrace being a fun place to hang out for drinks in the summer but we’d probably grab dinner elsewhere.
Convenient after-play dining. Friendly service, great food.
Normally the service here is adequate but when busy there can be real confusion about how long you will wait for your dinner. We decided to order some soup and salad while we waited after our server explained that the wait would be longer due to being busy. Then as soon as we received our soup we were informed that our entire was up. We never would have ordered the soup knowing that and only did so because of what the server had told us. It created a somewhat confusing experience/
Really nice...food excellent.......parking always a hassel!
My guest and I had a car problem in the garage. The staff and Jean- Robert himself could not have been nicer. Instead of becoming upset that we were blocking the driveway ( we were!), he offered us all a drink and a dessert!
AND the food was yummy!
The only negative is that the windows are not well insulated and a window seat, while lovely, is pretty chilly !
Service was VERY slow. Food was just okay. Won’t hurry to go back. It does have a nice view.
We love this place. It lacks in the decor but makes way up for it in food quality, taste and presentation. It’s a little slow in coming but the wine list and cocktail choices make up for that minor shortcoming. This is a keeper!
New Year’s Eve tends to be a crapshoot when it comes to a good dining experience.
La Bar A Boeuf was a wonderful surprise and well worth the gamble. An intimate, quiet setting with superb special small menu for the holiday. My halibut was delicious, my husband’s osso bucco was incredible, but the roasted beet salad will have us making a return trip. The service was attentive and prompt. All in all, a memorable night.
We went for an early dinner on New Year’s Eve. We had never heard of it but found it on Open Table. Appetizers and dessert were good but not really memorable. We both ordered the Filet and both thought they were excellent. I would go back and try it again when it’s not a set menu.
Beautiful room, delicious food, excellent service!
Have not been disappointed with meals at Le Bar A Boeuf. Two in our party were here for the first time. Our table of 4 shared the Steak tartare which was enjoyed by all. Meals: trout amandine with lemon flavor and toasted almonds on top added to the flavor of this meal, a filet prepared rare to perfection, nice preparation on the Rock Fish special and a beef meal from the Boeuf menu section with boursin and onion compote which was prepared as expected. All skipped the desserts as there was no room to spare for additional food. A great restaurant.
Our pre-theater dinner for a family of 6 was fun, delicious, perfectly timed and well suited for a variety of ages and preferences. We each had custom burgers with soups and salads of our choice, plus a lobster béchamel mac n cheese for the table (to DIE for). Truffle butter on bison was a highlight! All four wines we ordered were smooth and unctuous and well paired with the beef. And the jazz trio coupled with the sunset view of the river made it hard to leave for our show!
The food was very tasty, but particularly the French Onion soup was superb! The bread pudding was also quite good.
Waiter was great and offered recommendations. The duck was great as well as the mahi mahi special.
Amazing! Food was incredible and staff was perfect!
Excellent food. Service was pleasant but we felt quite rushed.
The food is Jean Robert amazingly good and the staff are really go out of their way to show what service means.
Good food good value great ambiance
Our server Larry was outstanding!! Food was a little disappointing but overall a great night!!
Was recommended by Frieda. Went for my husbands birthday. The food was 1st rate. Nice, sophisticated, quiet ambiance. Highly recommend.
Great. We loved the food and the service was super.
Always excellent food, service and ambience. My wife's favorites are the liver and hamburger;mine are the trout and the veggie mac and cheese.Perfect place for before or after Playhouse in the Park.
Larry is a wonderful server and we had a terrific time!!
We were there for Beaujolais which they did indeed have. The fireplace is so nice now that it is getting cold. Our service was good as was the food.
Excellent food and a terrific server made for a delicious evening!
Although the dining room had many empty tables we were seated next to the kitchen . This should always be the last resort as it was noisy and lots of servers going in and out . We were not offered bread and did not have the opportunity to ask as no one came to check after food was delivered . The entrees were good . The food was hot . Liver entree and Scallop special . Service and servers attitude can make the difference I overall experience.
Great food but we had very inattentive waitress. Hopefully just an off night
Very nice salads. One guest had trout, said it was good. Another had the scallops - also good. Two of us had the beef burger w/béarnaise. Burgers cooked as ordered. Béarnaise was thin and oily - a disappointment.
Two at our table ordered the scallops and they were prepared to perfection. Another in our party had the trout and the individual thought the trout was the best he has had in the city. He stated the chef's preparation was perfect. The other person in our party had the cordon bleu and the preparation was unique and very good. A description won't do it justice. One will simply need to give it a try.
We have eaten here many times, but this was one of the very best experiences. Our server, Tom, was excellent --- just the right amount of attention. Food was even better than usual.
Food was delicious. All menu items have a nice twist or unexpected ingredient. We both had seafood dishes. Next time we really will try the beef!
I had four courses: two were excellent (soup and salad), one was a very good foie gras (not as good as recent ones at JR's Table), one was good (crab cake, which, to be fair, I asked to be pan fried instead of their normal deep fry. Probably should not count as a judgment when the chief has to stick a special prep into the schedule on a busy night.). Service was outstanding: very attentive and pleasant. Price value is very good by my standards.
Good portion size and service fairly quick.
Much better / faster than a high end restaurant we ate at earlier in week (not L ). Truly a value for good creative dining
It was a good place with a great view.
