Le Bar A Boeuf
Good food good value great ambiance
Our server Larry was outstanding!! Food was a little disappointing but overall a great night!!
Great. We loved the food and the service was super.
Always excellent food, service and ambience. My wife's favorites are the liver and hamburger;mine are the trout and the veggie mac and cheese.Perfect place for before or after Playhouse in the Park.
Larry is a wonderful server and we had a terrific time!!
We were there for Beaujolais which they did indeed have. The fireplace is so nice now that it is getting cold. Our service was good as was the food.
Excellent food and a terrific server made for a delicious evening!
Although the dining room had many empty tables we were seated next to the kitchen . This should always be the last resort as it was noisy and lots of servers going in and out . We were not offered bread and did not have the opportunity to ask as no one came to check after food was delivered . The entrees were good . The food was hot . Liver entree and Scallop special . Service and servers attitude can make the difference I overall experience.
Great food but we had very inattentive waitress. Hopefully just an off night
Very nice salads. One guest had trout, said it was good. Another had the scallops - also good. Two of us had the beef burger w/béarnaise. Burgers cooked as ordered. Béarnaise was thin and oily - a disappointment.
Two at our table ordered the scallops and they were prepared to perfection. Another in our party had the trout and the individual thought the trout was the best he has had in the city. He stated the chef's preparation was perfect. The other person in our party had the cordon bleu and the preparation was unique and very good. A description won't do it justice. One will simply need to give it a try.
We have eaten here many times, but this was one of the very best experiences. Our server, Tom, was excellent --- just the right amount of attention. Food was even better than usual.
Food was delicious. All menu items have a nice twist or unexpected ingredient. We both had seafood dishes. Next time we really will try the beef!
I had four courses: two were excellent (soup and salad), one was a very good foie gras (not as good as recent ones at JR's Table), one was good (crab cake, which, to be fair, I asked to be pan fried instead of their normal deep fry. Probably should not count as a judgment when the chief has to stick a special prep into the schedule on a busy night.). Service was outstanding: very attentive and pleasant. Price value is very good by my standards.
Good portion size and service fairly quick.
Much better / faster than a high end restaurant we ate at earlier in week (not L ). Truly a value for good creative dining
It was a good place with a great view.
Horrible. We had to send out burger back. Asked for medium and got raw. Still inedible even after they attempted to cook it. Still raw in center. Bread pudding was dry and cold in the center. Must have been weeks old and they attempted to microwave it. Complained by manager and waiter didn’t seem concerned. They could have at least comped our drinks given food was awful. Waiter commented hopefully it will be better next time. Will not be a next time. We will not go back and will tell everyone how bad experience was. Restaurant ‘‘twas not busy for a fri night. Wonder why???? And it took forever for kitchen to make order even with restaurant being slow
My 17 year old son took his HOCO date there a couple weeks ago and was rushed out the door and not offered dessert. The restaurant was basically empty. We sent him there because I've always had very good experiences with both service and food. I called the restaurant to share my concerns, but no one returned my call.
Bartender got in a yelling match with a customer... inappropriate regardless of who was at fault.
Attended with my 18 year old granddaughter from Salem, OR. She loved it.
Dinner was delicious, definitely recommend the artichoke appetizer!. Overall great dinner and evening!
First time there. Impressed with the food service and the view. LARRY was very attentive and very experienced and explaining the different foods. Had a great time and will return
We have dined at Le Bar A Boeuf many times but not recently. It just hasn't been "on our radar" but it should be. Regardless of your attire, you will be made welcome and comfortable. Intimate, cozy spaces, efficient staff and a bar that you don't want to leave. Parking is free and easy. We were with friends we had not seen in 20 years since they last lived here. They loved it, as did we. The steak tartare was fabulous and I cleaned my plate of the beef liver. Our server, Thomas, understood our need to reconnect with our friends after so many years and his approach was perfect. Never felt rushed. Courses well timed.
The food is delicious very french traditional with an American twist. The service is too slow.
Food was fine when we finally received some of it but service was awful. One person canceled his main course because of so late being served.
Service was chaotic! Our food took almost an hour to arrive. Quality of the food did not match our previous experiences at this place. We left a bit dissapointed on this visit.
We went for happy hour--in the pouring rain. It appears that many of the customers are residents of Edgecliff, the building which sits on top of this restaurant, and that creates a very casual familiar feel between customers and staff. Even though the restaurant entrance doesn't look like much, we decided to go because the chef/owner and the restaurant have such a good reputation. My husband had the small meat and cheese plate which was really, really beautiful and well done. I had the shrimp appetizer which was also very good. The potato dauphinoise was okay. Because it was raining so hard, we decided to stay a little longer at the bar and get martinis which were great. We also shared the pot de creme--excellent. This was our first visit and the weather was so miserable that I am reluctant to be critical of our experience. I see that someone else described the service as 'amateurish,' and that may explain some of what we felt. It's as though the restaurant can't decide if it wants to be elegant or casual. We live in the neighborhood and I expect that this will be one of our 'go to' places for happy hour.
Very unique and complicated menu with thousands of possibilities. I rely on our server to help with the decision and it always turns out great. Cocktails are very good and generous. Soups are generally large servings and very filling, almost a meal in themselves. My wife typically orders just soup and salad and is quite satisfied. Out door seating is superb when the weather is nice. Le Bar A Boeuf is our go-to place pre- Playhouse.
Great place to meet up with friends for a good meal that is reasonably priced.
Le Bar A Boeuf is a really great place. Love the build your burger aspect but if you want good entrees those are available as well. I was said to see the tongue appetizer go away but the smoked salmon is fantastic as is the tomato salad. The wine list has a lot of great value wines. And the service is excellent
Good Restaurant but I think its crazy to have to pay for a bun. Everything is ala carte
Delicious hamburgers, but also some great other dishes as well! I had the trout and my husband had an 8 ounce burger. Both were very good and nicely presented. Dessert of creme brûlée and pot de creme were a nice finale to a classy casual meal. The staff were all VERY nice, but were overwhelmed by the number of guests that were there. They needed a few more staff to handle the number of people. All in all a nice meal, but it took more time than we expected.
The cocktail, the dinner and our server were all fantastic!
Super place for casual dining for those seeking a sophisticated ambiance and quiet surroundings.
Too bad no open table points. I think I mentioned this was for a birthday on the reservation notes, but nothing was mentioned by our server. The service was great though and we enjoyed the evening very much. The halibut was outstanding.
Laura was our server and did a great job.
We had a party of 8 and everything was great!
A few had never been to before and they loved the meal !
I have been to a few times and the foods were delicious and didn't disappoint.
I also had a cocktail that was refreshing. A gin concoction and my preference is rum !
Thumbs up-- thank you!
food is really delicious, especially the no bun burger with choices to add. It was a magnificent evening so sat on the deck (first come first served on deck), overlooking the Ohio River.
The food was fine and we love the menu of the day. Food came out from the kitchen at odd times and we were told a new chef was getting their rhythm so things were a little out of sync.
We were sad to see that the restaurant was not busy at all. We were one of four or five parties there that evening. This restaurant has seen better days.
Unbelievably S-L-O-WWWW service!!! Unacceptable.
