We sat on the terrace, the view, weather, food and service sublime. We love this great restaurant.
Everything was delicious: lobster Mac and cheese, salads, steak frites, bacon wrapped salmon, creme brûlée, dark chocolate pot de creme. Perfect service. We will be back soon!
This is a quaint place tucked into the lobby of a condo building. The food was fresh and good. Our server did not explain what items were on the charcuterie board and the menu was not the same as the one posted on the restaurant website but everything was prepared excellently.
As always it was a perfect dinner with wonderful specials and selections. Thank you for another great meal.
The puff pastry accompanying the foie gras was a delicate, flaky perfection. The fresh from the oven French bread was a light, warm crunchy treat. Grilled duck was delicious. The creme brûlée was a wonderful finish.
Jean Robert himself, when he stopped by our table, said it was a challenging night. For us, as his diners, it was a challenge to get a reservation for 8 with the staffing shortages. We were glad to be accommodated & we were glad to be able to enjoy a truly leisurely dining experience. Our group had the specialty cocktails (more than one of each -- that good.)
Escargot, beet & goat cheese salad, the Maisonette shrimp, for beginners. Entrees included the rack of lamb, halibut special, salmon, chicken, & utterly delectable duck. Three of us had desserts of creme brulee. It is nice to have a quiet meal with good service that was understandably doing the best they can in today's circumstances.
This was our first visit in several years and it was wonderful. The French 75 was a tasty, light cocktail and perfect for a celebration. Loved the beet and goat cheese salad. Nice tender red and yellow beets and super creamy goat cheese with fresh greens. The duck and the halibut special were scrumptious. No room fir dessert.😫
Great place to grab a bite.
I always enjoy LeBar. It's a nice little gem nestled in Walnut Hills near the park. Last night the service was not as good as in the past. Two large groups sucked the air out of the place, and that's okay. It took way too long to get a simple hamburger. However, I'm not complaining. I'm just glad to see the place busy again.
Lovely staff, enjoyed being w Megan again
Fun evening celebrating Bastille Day
Dinner, as always, excellent
Love the new menu
The food was so creative, it was amazing.
Great food and service
Great find, especially for pre-theatre experience.
We had a wonderful meal and very much enjoined speaking with Jean Robert, and
as always so good to chat with Marilou.
Great cocktails and food. Good place for an early dinner before going to a show at Playhouse in the Park
Nice to back dining again at Le Bar. Where else can one get great French Comfort food at a very reasonable price? Our duck and Arctic char were both delicious and would buy again. The wine list is short but well selected and reasonably priced. Service was excellent and professional. Ambiance is very nice with white tablecloths. The restaurant was a bit cold by my standards, but my dining partner was fine. Highly recommended.
In the beginning, the appetizers and cocktails were good. Wine recommendation from wait staff was not on mark but that wasn’t a problem. We were one of the first customers with a 6:15 reservation but didn’t get our dinner served until 2:00 hrs later. I really believe they forgot about us and/ or we weren’t as important as others. Not at all as special as it was at Jean-Robert’s Table restaurant he had in downtown Cincinnati. The lamb was a very small portion for the price of the entree. The view was lovely from what we could see around other tables. Hopefully they will open up the patio dining in the near future. It was closed last night. Not sure that I would want to return.
Everything was perfect from the moment we entered.
The food is outstanding; it's obvious Jean Robert is in the kitchen. Our group had the foie gras special, tartare, a mac n cheese, steak, burger, and fish, and everything was exquisite. The chocolate pot de creme for dessert was exactly like the ones I loved when we lived in France, and I wish I could eat one every day. Our server, on the other hand, was really terrible. We were seated for 40 minutes before we got our drinks (besides water, that came right away). He told us when he brought them that he'd "be right back to take orders" and he then proceeded to go to all the other tables around us, dropping off and picking up checks, dropping off food, and even going behind the bar to take a break and get a drink before finally coming back. After that, things moved a bit better, but he still made mistakes with the cutlery, had someone else's dish come to our table, and a few more. All the other servers seemed fine, so next time we go back, we'll just be sure to not be seated in his section!
We enjoyed two of their nightly specials: halibut and filet mignon. Both were excellent. Although pricier than the standard menu items, they were definitely worth it. Jean Robert himself was in the kitchen, and his hand was evident in those entrees.
Best restaurant in Cincinnati!
Very disappointing. This is our 4th Jean Robert restaurant and had hopes. We were not greeted or acknowledged for 10 minutes when we arrived at our reserved time. Our drink order were wrong including missing a drink. The appetizer plates were dirty. The bottom of one of the plate had large pieces of dried food on it that was transferred to the one under it. No apologies over that just taken without a word. The salmon was extremely dry. Even with the sauce it was dry. The remainder of the food was just OK. Not good for the price. Not sure if we were supposed to receive bread but most of the other table did and it was not offered. Not sure if there was coffee or any other offer it after the entree because nothing was offered. We have enjoyed L. Table Maisonette in the past. This did not meet our expectations of the quality of service or food we experienced. Would not recommend
Jean Robert always has such delicious food and the presentation is simply the very best. I noted tremendous attention to detail on cleaning every single thing on the table - silverware, glasses, plates - prior to setting it. We were lucky in that chef was "in the house" cooking last night. So amazing.
Halibut was excellent!
The quintessential French meal! Truly, one of the best dinners in the Cincinnati. Created with unparalleled skill and lovingly served in a comfortable environment, we will be going back weekly!
Fun vibe with authentic, fantastic food! Great desserts!
Le Bar A Boeuf continues to impress me with their quality of food, ambiance, and service. Jean Robert is the greatest chef not only in the area, but the region. He is truly a legend! He has taken many of the well known dishes from his old restaurant JR's Table and incorporated them into the revised menu for Le Bar A Boeuf. Every time I eat there I am more and more impressed!
Dinner was delicious and service was attentive. Nice selection on the menu and entrees finished with a sauce poured on by waiter.
We love Jean Robert’s restaurants generally but have not been for several years (prior to Table closing) and this was the first time we had been to Le Bar a Bouef. We were not disappointed! The food was amazing. We started with the beef tartare and the escargot. My wife had the calves liver entree and I had the blue cheese encrusted steak special with fingerling potatoes. Liver and steak were cooked perfectly and there was not a drop of food that was left when we were finished. Finished off the meal with a very reasonably priced glass of Bordeaux. Thank you for the lovely date night!
The lamb chops cooked medium rare and bacon wrapped salmon dishes were both fantastic and prepared as ordered. Our meal begin with the shrimp Maisonette Style and this appetizer did not disappoint. We shared the Creme Brulee for dessert which was well prepared as well. The restaurant was busy and vibrant. What was nice about the evening was we were not rushed and were able to enjoy the food and atmosphere.
If you have not been to Le Bar A Boeuf lately you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes that have been implemented. Be sure to reserve for weekends.
Even giving grace for short-staffing due to COVID, we had to wait almost two hours from the time we ordered to the time they came out. When they were finally brought to our table, they were all overcooked (medium-well to well-done when we asked for the rare side of medium-rare). The manager initially wanted to offer an after-dinner drink or dessert and still charge us for the entrees. Ultimately, she offered 20% off which still did not cover the amount they charged us despite only one of our party actually eating their entree. Our experience was definitely not up to the level of expectations we had for a Jean Robert operation!
Wonderful experience, well managed, superb food and great wine selection in a lovely setting.
Great food in an intimate setting. Prices vary from modest to expensive. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
Food is always good. There is variety in the menu. Wine list is good. Service is excellent. They even found a pillow for me to use in the chair so I'd be more comfortable.
Excellent food, excellent service, very French! The pace of service was slow by American standards, but spot on for a protracted, relaxing “French” evening. Don’t go if you’re impatient or in a rush - leave your watch at home and savor the experience. It was absolutely transporting! The kitschy décor is très amusant. I’m guessing, but I infer the servers were transferred from one of J-R’s upscale shops. Very professional, cordial, competent. In summation, Bœuf is a gem, but expectations are key to enjoying the experience. The server knows you’re there. The server knows who’s next. The server WANTS to serve you. Just relax and wait your turn. Your patience will be richly rewarded!
