We could not have had a nicer evening: great menu choices, our server was outstanding and the bistro vibe was a nice backdrop and appropriately kitschy. Everything on the menu sounded great and we were delighted with our app, entrees and dessert. Definitely planning a return visit.
So glad "The Table" is back, we missed it...great service, food and atmosphere
Quaint restaurant with a French bistro feel. Service was good , friendly knowledgeable waitress and excellent food presentation.
Tables are very close to each other and tight for the servers to tend the table. Certainly we’re not rushed to eat and the bill was slow in arriving.
A unique experience and noticeable that there were many “regulars “ eating there.
It is definitely a place for older adults, not families nor for children. Restaurant is within a high rise condo building and serves its purpose well.
More selections than during it’s previous iteration. Appetizers were a larger portion than expected but entrees were smaller than expected for the price. Hopefully they will continue to expand their menu.
Loved the food! Excellent service.
This was our first visit back since the new menu and Jean-Robert has refocused on this restaurant. The experience was excellent. The menu is excellent, the food was prepared very well and the service was great. We look forward to coming back soon.
Best restaurant in Cincinnati!
Celebrating husbands birthday. Setting was cozy and comfortable, service was good despite worker shortage. The food was absolutely delicious. Not pretentious, but beautifully presented and with exceptionally deep, rich flavors that were done perfectly. The entire meal from the appetizers to the desserts were very satisfying.
Le Bar has great food, but the new menu is a little light on their namesake -- beef.
Very happy to get in at the last minute on a Friday. Love the restaurant and the great vibe. Food was excellent, service was great too. Escargot, short ribs, apple salad all amazing. The salmon was wrapped in bacon, not our favorite flavors together, but the sauce and risotto were terrific. Wine choices are server gave us were perfect. We finished with a potato ice cream from Thailand that was amazing and unique. Great spot, one of our favorite Jean Robert restaurants.
Oh wow, the food was amazing. Incredible escargot, the most wonderful crabcakes with a lovely veggie slaw, and the beef tartare was the stuff of dreams! Best creme brulee we have ever had. Even the bread and butter was incredible! The only thing better than the food was the service!
Our food was fabulous…service was perfect. They accommodated special requests with ease and made it taste delicious
Best seared foie gras in the city
Really like dining at LeBar. Cato has been our waitress and she is excellent!
Two large parties of 12 or more impacted the wait staff's attetion to our small party. We were served a drink we did not order and were charged for it. The waitress tried to hurry us along because of the large party she was about to serve and offered to serve us to quickly to move us along. We turned down the offer becuse we wanted to dine leisurely. Very disappointed in a place that has become one of our favourites. Having said all this we will try again.
We are visiting for a long weekend and this was our first stop! It was amazing! Cato (spelling?) Provided wonderful service and personality! On this day, the chef had a street in the city named after him. I can see why! Thank you for kicking off our weekend just right!
We had a fabulous meal, as expected. Our only complaint was that our waiter(s) did not tell us about the daily specials, and, when I inquired about one of them (I saw something that looked amazing being served at another table), was told that there were only a certain number of the dish remaining … and that waitperson seemed to treat my question with minor annoyance. Fortunately, the primary person serving us told me they would reserve one for me right away. We still never received the run-down of specials, though, even after that exchange.
Fabulous meal as usual. Great service. Everything was great. One of our favorite places.
We had the Beef Wellington and it was perfect. A Boeuf was very busy but the staff and the kitchen keep all things moving wonderfully ! This dish must be ordered by Thurs and is served only on Friday and is off menu. It is outstanding and worth the expense.
Great food. Lovely service
They were definitely understaffed. The gentleman who greeted us was seated w guests, eating when we arrived. Odd. Our server did a great job considering all the tables she had but definitely had a hard time keeping up and forgot some thing’s that we ordered. Her being so preoccupied made our evening seem rushed. She recommended a great red wine that we didn’t see on the menu as well as dessert which sort of saved the meal for us. We ordered the artichoke and mushroom ragout, delicious but definitely rich. We are in french cuisine so we expected this. The shrimp maisonette came recommended, not impressed with this dish… I would suggest prawns. The beet salad was never ordered for us which we had ordered but we weren’t charged so clearly there was a communication issue there. The soup of the day was duck and white bean, I would go back for this alone as well as the beef tartare. Hands down best tartare, lots of acidity to cut the richness. The lobster macaroni was unctuous, cheesy rich and beautifully prepared with huge chunks of lobster. Then the entree came… the bacon wrapped salmon (not recommended by the server but we thought we would try it). She said the chef recommends med-rare to med temp and we agreed that would be perfect for us (I like my salmon undercooked). The salmon came out and was far too over cooked, I only had a couple of bites, my guest had a third of the salmon maybe before deciding he, too could not eat it. We let the server know it was far too overcooked and she took our plates and apologized but never offered a manager or someone to talk to regarding or to buy the entree or offer something in its place. The wine that she recommended with dinner was amazing (CDP). The creme brûlée was phenomenal as well as the cappuccino. I would go back to actually try a salad, have more soup, have both the salmon and beef tartare as well as the mac and cheese and dessert. I do know I won’t be ordering salmon or even an entree possibly upon my return.
Evening was a disappointment.
Very short staffed both in front and back of the house.
Dessert order never arrived.
It is always a very special evening when enjoying dinner prepared by John Robert! Walking into La Bar A Boeuf is a joy with all the wonderful people taking such personalized care of everyone! Naturally, every dish is a delight!
Food is fabulous, Service is superior! Love this place!
We always have a great dining experience at Le Bar a Bouef.
Great service, great food and great ambiance
Exceptional experience! If you haven’t been there lately, you need to make a reservation, fine dining is once again in Walnut Hills…..thank you JR
This is - without a doubt- our favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. It’s a hidden gem, tucked away in E. Walnut Hills. As we all know, Jean Robert is a master in the kitchen and everything he turns out is delicious,,unique and perfectly balanced. Most often I order the special, so we haven’t even tried everything on the menu. The escargot are delicate and delicious and the crab cakes are so full of crab I’m not sure how they stay together. The service is impeccable, attentive and friendly without being overly so. Most are long term staff members who have deep respect for Chef and the customers. Recommendations are always spot on from the wait staff.
Great food, amazing service, creative menu, looking forward to going back!
Fantastic meals and evening. Certainly a gem of a spot.
We could not have asked for a better evening, including amazing food prepared by the master chef Jean Robert. It was special.
Love the new menu and personal!! I am back at The Table!! what a great surprise it is no longer a hamburger place!! Great service, fantastic hostess, fabulous menu and great view.
Our food was delicious! My husband and I went to celebrate my birthday. We started with a fried green tomato salad, and the bread was amazing. I had the halibut special, and my husband had filet mignon. We split a creme brulee for desert. Our waitress was very busy but also very attentive. We would definitely go back. You can't go wrong with Jean Robert restaurant.
I love this place it’s wonderful but they are definitely having help issues. Mary Lou and everyone else works hard but they are not enough of them.
It is hard to beat the food from a chef Jean-Robert restaurant. Our experience was excellent and Le Bar A boeuf is a go-to restaurant for a special evening.
Always enjoy eating there.Nice ambience ,tasty food, outstanding service. Patio porch is among the best in Cincinnati.More need to know about this gem of an eatery.
We have dined at this restaurant in the past and enjoyed our experience last evening. The restaurant has made some changes since our last visit, including a lovely patio for dining outside with a great view of the City. The food is always well prepared, but the Schrimp Maisonette is to die for. Tables Restaurant was my favorite place to dine in Cincinnati and I miss it. However, Le Bar A Boeuf has many similarities and I, for one, love it.
The most delicious food and my favorite restaurant by far.
Wait staff was excellent . Everyone was very professional and helpful.
My family used to love coming to la bar a boeuf, but after last night we will never come back. We used to enjoy the make your own burger option and the sharable sides such as their veggies. They have done away with all of this and now only have sub-par entrees. The cocktail selection was also poor and nothing special. Between the absurd noise level from the table behind us and the hushed speaking tone and quick pace of her speaking, we could hardly hear. The price of the meal was not worth the selection of food and drinks and the poor atmosphere. This was a huge let down for a dinner that was supposed to celebrate my sister visiting home for the first time all year. Extremely disappointing restaurant.
