Le Bar A Boeuf
Always a great experience. Food is always perfect also.
Like all of JR's restaurants this is excellent. The food was wonderful and the wine list was very good and very reasonably priced.
First time visit. Service was slow even though only 2/3rds full at 7:15 pm. The specialty here is custom burgers...over 40 minutes to get two overcooked orders. Would have told the staff except she just disappeared. We ate, food not ruined, just overcooked. Finished our drinks, 10 minutes later wait came back and asked now the meal was, never asked on the drinks. We shared our view on events. The manager showed and was nice to make the meal a comp. Did point out the food had been sitting. Did point out the mayo for burgers was old enough to have film on it. She needs to spend more time in the kitchen...she was the entire time we were there up front at the reservation desk and did not check on other tables. Not impressed for a JR operation in Cincinnati. This places needs oversight it is not getting.
Food definitely was served room temp all five of us foodies thought
Sitting too long under a lamp. Disappointing. Meat was also dense and dry.
Restaurant severely understaffed and no one seemed even remotely concerned. Took almost 20 minutes after seating for anyone to even acknowledge we were there. They were out of several menu items and took forever for items to come once they were ordered. This used to be a favorite spot, but after such a horrible experience, would be reluctant to ever go back. STAY AWAY!!!
We had a pre play dinner and had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get to the Playhouse on time. Brady did a great job of serving under some rather difficult conditions. He was professional at all times.
My salad greens, duck leg confit, frites and Brussel sprouts were more than enough to fill me up--but I did make room for a pot au creme. A pre dinner drink and a glass of cotes du Rhone filled out the meal. My husband enjoyed his tomato salad, salmon, veggies and mashed potatoes equally as well.
We had a very nice evening at Le Bar A Boeuf. The food was outstanding. The service was okay--there appeared to be only 2 servers, and they were working hard.
Server needs more training. She told us that they have a new chef who is still trying to figure out ordering because they were out of some items. Service was not very attentive, food was average. Nice ambiance.
Le Bar a Boeuf was a good spot for dinner before a show at the Playhouse in the Park. Our server was great and very friendly. However, the price was not a good value. My husband got a burger with sauce and one topping and it was $21! not including a bun. My side salad was $5 and it was literally a small bowl of greens with dressing. Would not recommend based on value.
Everyone is truly wonderful here. The only thing that needs to be addressed is the air conditioning. Please get it fixed.
Yes. We have taken friends with us on many occasions. They always love it. JeanRobert really knows how to run a restaurant! We love all of his restaurants.
It was a great evening to sit on the deck! The food, cocktails and wine hit the spot!
Great drinks. Great dinner. Great location on east side
Our experience is always great when Tom waits on our table
My husband and I are big fans of this restaurant. I love the consistency.
Food and service excellent and the outdoor patio is lovely and quiet. It was very noisy inside due to a big group so outside is much better although that won't be an option in winter!
Love this restaurant! Great food and great service.
In the summer, the outside terrace with its view of the river and Kentucky is delightful.
Always love going. Great food, great atmosphere. Samantha at the bar is excellent. Thomas and Jordon are wonderful on the floor.
The food was very good and our server was fantastic!
We were not happy with our overall experience. Food was fair and we had a disagreement with our waiter over a drink that did not come in a timely manner. We decided we didn't want the drink and the waiter said it had already been poured and there was nothing he could do.
Always a pleasure to be there!
Food was good. We both had burgers and fries, and Shrimp Maisonette style. Service was good. Kind of a strange vibe. You have to walk through the entrance to rented office spaces in the building and for a venue in a build with million views, the restaurant has a view of trees and a residential street. The AC was kind of on the fritz, but it was comfortable. Most patrons seemed to be residents of the condos above. Place was more like a hotel restaurant with Jean Robert's menu.
Always a wonderful experience! Sam is incredible!
Odd place. beautiful view of the river and KY. need to advertise more. service was not up to par compared to the food. disappointing. had a good time through
The service both from the waitress to the manager was discourteous and/or rude. Not likely to return
Music outside was loud and bad
Not conducive to nice dinner
Asked to turn it down
Waiter blew us off
Restaurant was extremely warm. Waiter forgot to put in our salad. Soup and drinks very good. Rest of food medium
Love the food. Service always great. I wish the chair backs were more comfortable. I took a pillow with me but it was difficult to get it to stay in place because of the big gap. Maybe if there were one or two chairs with no gap in the back, I could request one when I go there.
Crab po boy is great! 2nd time around, as is the French Onion Soup. So good. The fries are very tasty
I had the beef tartare also for the second time around. Had it before. The first time I was meh about it so I wanted to try it again. All I tasted really were capers and their juice. For me, its missing something.
But the portion was not skimpy and received a lot of toast points.
Craft cocktails were delicious and we had a very nice and attentive waiter who also greeted us at the reservation desk
We will be back soon
One meal was not edible as the meat we so well done even tho orrdered medium The waiter agreed but did not offer another .. It was also not taken off the bill even after i suggested it Another steak was ordered medium and came raw and returnee the kitchen It came back after we had finished our meals and my guest ate allone while we watched . I will not go back
With the outside deck now open this is a great place to get some of JR's chef's good food and drink.
Consistent food, service the works! Always a great place to go no that you’re going to get great food, great drinks and great service!
Andrea thanks for the review! I’m glad you enjoyed your experience with us please let me know the next time you dine with us and we will send a dessert on us!
First time and looked great walking. Patio was lovely. Took a while to get drinks. The pate was tasty but we waited a long time to get it. My husband fish was dry and Mac and cheese too. May have sat under heat lights too long. The tartar was really tasty as well. Had to track down server for another round of drinks. Port de creme and creme brûlée was outstanding.
Will try again because we must have hit on a busy evening or short staffed
Excellent burger!! I was very impressed of the quality, juiciness, and flavor of the meat! Delicious! Two dollars for a bun is a little off putting though.
Poor service - server not knowledgeable of food/menu or of serving protocol. Food itself pretty good but presentation lacking. Desert crepes - awful - thick and leathery.
I had never been to this restaurant but my date suggested it and I agreed. I thought it being a John Robert restaurant it would be good. First, there was an overwhelming odor of turpentine in the area. both indoors and on the patio where we sat. I later had a very bad headache and as I don't get headaches, I am positive it was from the turpentine fumes. I even considered going to the ER and calling the health department. The food was below average. I got a romaine salad with salmon for $20. The salmon was overcooked and cold and the salad was about 10 cents worth of romaine with a few walnuts and nothing else. Possibly the worst salad I have ever had in a restaurant. You can get better at a fast food restaurant and I can definitely do better at home. My date had a beet salad which looked better than mine but nothing special. I would never recommend this restaurant and will never go back.
Mike, some information in response to your review. The last 18mo the 5 floors of garages have been under construction. The company doing the work was made aware of the oder which is a non toxic and non ingestible chemical the health department has been made aware of the situation & makes regular visits during this time. I apologize you felt the food wasn’t to your liking I believe in the product and our team. I’m confident if you visit us again you’ll have a significantly better experience.
