We couldn't get a reservation at our "regular" steakhouse so we went to Open Table and noticed the recommendation for LB Steak. Neither of us had ever heard of it. But we'll be back. Everyone from the host to the manager and serving staff was friendly and we were very pleased with the food and service. We have been converted to a new "regular" steakhouse.
This is a relatively expensive steakhouse. My standards are written at that level. It took too long to get service initially. We had to ask for bread although all tables had it. Ordered a lemon drop and the bartender put salt on the rim. Total fail. They corrected. Steak was ok, but I could make way better at home. They forgot the steak sauce. Had to get up from table to go ask for it. They gave a free glass of wine in return.
I typically don't give negative reviews, but this is unacceptable for a place this expensive in Menlo Park. This place needs to get better or don't bother. So many great restaurants and making a good steak and having good service shouldn't be difficult. I wish LB luck, but won't be going back to find out if they improved.
We were excited to celebrate our Anniversary at LB in Menlo Park, but the excitement soon ended. Not a fully stocked bar & service was not what would be expected for an upscale priced restaurant. Caesar salads were good but needed more dressing. My steak was perfect but cool as was the baked potato & creamed spinach! Popovers were warm and delicious but needed to ask for butter. We were presented with a molten cake/ice cream for our "special" celebration free dessert. Coffee was COLD---both decaf & regular! Not a restaurant for a quiet romantic dinner as it was difficult to hear each other talk...noisey!! Perhaps less noise in the back of the restaurant?? Will we return....jury is still out!
I took my husband there for his birthday and we were amazed at the excellent service, and how great the food was. We started out with the beet salad, which was amazing. Then we had the cornbread with bacon and Gouda...amazing! The waiter gave us honey on the side without our asking, which complemented the meal. The waiter also made me the best Arnold Palmer that I have ever had and told me that they make their lemonade fresh every day! I drink Arnold Palmer's all of the time and this one was the very best! Our main course was steaks. My husband had the Cowboy Steak and I had the fillet and both were amazingly juicy, tender and delicious. The sauces they served with the steaks were awesome. The entire staff and manager treated us like VIPS. We would definitely return! Oh, I forgot about the scallops appetizer. Very good! Thank you!
First evening diners, yet seated hidden in the very back.
Assigned a server covering the street tables out front, so we saw her for only for the first course and had to flag down anyone around after that.
Server couldn't tell us about some wines, so had to find someone who could.
Worst cocktails: Martini not chilled & watered down; Lemon Drop, not properly prepared, so sent back.
Caesar salads came out in warm bowls (really?), not chilled; sent back.
Friend's filet tolerable.
Teeny short rib over-cooked & no sauce, as the menu said, and she described. Asked someone for sauce; never came.
Manager finally came, so replaced with a slightly larger little rib with sauce 2nd time, but still dry, overdone & inedible. Kindly, manager got me some soup for something to eat.
Flagged someone down to get our check, but had to finally go up to the front desk to pay our bill, as no service person was ever coming back to our table.
Zero for service & quality.
I have been wanting to try the restaurant for years but was sadly not impressed. The servers were excellent, very kind and professional however the service was very slow and the restaurant was not even half full. The food was good but not great as one might expect for the type of restaurant and price. The ambience was quiet and enjoyable.
The food was good, though on the expensive side for the quality. The calamari had a good texture, and with a dash of salt tasted quite good. We all found the popovers that came before the entree delightful. My steak was somewhat overcooked, and my dining partner's was unevenly cooked, however we both enjoyed them. Our waiter was great. While the steaks were thinner than I was expecting from a steakhouse, I would go back to try them again.
The waitress was inattentive. Never came back again after serving lunch to 4 of us outdoor. She seemed by herself. I had to hunt her down to clear our table and take our dessert order. There was absolutely no one inside the restaurant to help us. I found her in the kitchen. I spoke to another customer in the ladies room and she was as disappointed in her experience. We used to love this place but service and even salad presentation has gone downhill.
It was terrible. When the soup arrived, it was not hot. And, without a spoon to eat the soup, it took awhile for the waiter to bring one. The entrees and side dishes arrived cold. They took so long to arrive that the waiter said one desert would be on the house.
My guest and I arrived a little early and even though there was a table ready soon after our arrival, we enjoyed a glass of champagne at the bar. A beautiful space, delightful service, and great food. Lenny was awesome. The manager on duty was fantastic and checked in with us, as did the chef. A real treat to be out on the town.
First of all, they did not have our reservation, but Open Table contacted me and awarded us points. Service was awful. Waiters don't seem to enjoy their job. Drinks took forever, as did our entrees. Food was marginal. We felt rushed, even though we had a 7:00 reservation. Staff seemed like they just wanted to go home. We will not go back.
Was excited to visit with friends after enjoying lunch here. Started out with a great welcome. Very disappointed with service after - had to chase down the waiter at least 3 times; the first was to take our meal order 40 min after all of our party was seated. Food was generally good but came out staggered. Overall the poor service put a damper on our evening. Please understand, I am not one to complain in a review. Sorry to say we won’t be coming back anytime soon if ever.
It was the second time we dined there and both times we had an excellent experience. I mentioned that it was going to be a farewell dinner for my parents who were leaving after the summer, and they reserved a nice quiet room for us. The service was wonderful with just the right amount of attention. The food was great. We loved all our dishes -- not just the steaks but the salmon was amazing. We will definitely go back there for a special occasion.
We were a party of 6 for my son's birthday. The hostess was welcoming and immediately seated us. Our server and the wait staff were spot on. The house speciality drinks were delicious. We shared the calamari appatizer & the corn bread. Both delicious! Steaks cooked perfectly, soup & wedge salad were a hit. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were enough to go around. An ice cream sundae topped with a candle for the birthday boy was a very nice touch. We will go back again for sure. Added bonus is a large free parking lot in the back.
Our table was ready when we arrived, we were seated promptly and the servers and staff were all very polite and did a great job answering our questions along with giving us recommendations. The food was delicious, as expected and the overall atmosphere was wonderful. I will definitely continue to dine here.
Very reasonable for the price. Don't get me wrong, it's not cheap, but the quality of the meat is priced at a reasonable price. My wife and son both had the 6 ounce filet which was $33. At the other steak places, it's about $10 more. Had the lobster bisque which was also excellent. Atmosphere is casual and not pompous. Bruce, our server was excellent.
My husband choose LB Steak in MP for his 60th Birthday because we've had great experiences at the Santana Row location. We were a party of 7 and given (didn't ask for) a private room. That was great. What wasn't great was we were off the radar of our waiter. It took forever to get our drinks and then I had to go ask if we could put our order in. We also had to ask for bread. When he finally came back to ask if we wanted dessert it had been over 2 hours since we got there. He knew it was my husbands birthday because he said "I know you want dessert". It would have been nice if he had brought out a dessert with a candle in it. That is pretty standard for most restaurants. Especially one as expensive as LB Steak. The food was really good but the service ruined what should have been a wonderful evening
Worst service and very marginal food.
We arrived at 6 pm for our reservations to celebrate a birthday. We asked the host if our friends have checked in and they said no. They took us to our table and we waited for our friends. After 30 minutes, we called our friends to find out if they are stuck in bad traffic. They told us that they have been waiting for us at a table for 25 minutes! Apparently, when they arrived and used our reservation name to check in, the host forgot that we already checked in and were sitting at a different table. The host told them that they were the first to check in.
We told the host that about the mistake and no one even apologized. They just looked surprised.
We ordered our steaks Medium Rare but three of us got medium/medium well. Barely any pink at all.
How can they get this wrong since they are a steakhouse.
When we made our reservation on Opentable, we made a note that we were celebrating a birthday. We ordered desserts and they didn't even put a candle on it. I don't expect restaurants to give us a free dessert but they should at least acknowledge the birthday celebration with a candle or something.
The server didn't even check in on us.
Serena made our meal memorable. She came over to our table to ask how things were and we struck up a pleasant conversation. Steak tartare was magnificent with a little quail egg. I had the LB Burger and it was beyond Good ! The ambience, the comfortable seats, the noise level, the food, we're all excellent and we will be back
Horrible waiter.. honestly said he was not used to working on Sunday.. say for at least 39 minutes before we got bread.. said there were no specials.. we asked about prime rib.. oh yes we have that.. listed vanilla gelato for dessert.. when order he remembered it was not available..never came to table.. we had to flag him down..just not good service .. not the usual..
The hostess was most helpful however from the on the dinner was a bust. The service was very poor , it was difficult to get a waiters attention and the food we rated as not great but ok. This is an off shoot of the Left Bank restaurants but did not do the chain credit.
Have been there several times and the last two times were marginal so do not recommend this restaurant.
Celebrating a special occasion with my niece and nephew. We brought some old wine that requires special handling and the sommelier handled it masterfully. They also made a custom recipe Martini perfectly. Their Manhattan with French cherries and cinnamon/clove bitters was the best I ever tasted. Steaks were prepared properly & the sides were tasty. My favorites were the exotic mushrooms and the truffle parmesan fries. For dessert, the Sticky Piggy Sundae brownie is a must. My summary: A great meal. Pricy, but worth it.
While our dinner reservation was set for 5 p.m. there should have been no reason what so ever for the kitchen to get my order wrong, especially when the restaurant only had 4 tables to serve at that time. Ordered a medium rare fillet and recieved well done fillet, second time around I received a rare fillet. I can't imagine how the service would be at rush hour.
