For some reason, I expected an uninspired steakhouse (Sundance, Alfred's), but was pleasantly surprises--several fish items, including the salmon salad, which I had and loved. My dining companion had the burger, which she loved. This place is full of surprises and I found all kinds of other things I could have ordered on the menu.
Very lovely restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service,!
Great place, Great food, nice atmosphere!!
Recommended to everyone.
Never had a bad meal here!!! Bring people here from out of town
Its great to have a good local restaurant where we can bike to.
The restaurant was busy and had a good ambiance.
The food is good quality. Overall a very pleasant experience.
The food was excellent. The Wait staff were very professional, accomadating, and kind. The best service I can remember ever having !!!!
We had roasted chicken which was mediocre- dry and tasteless. On the upside, the cauliflower veggies were good. Popovers were cold and undercooked. Service was fair. LB Steak: surely for the price point you can do better than this.
I've been to LB Steak many times and always enjoyed my visits. This time, I had the prime rib special which I considered to be a very good value. The meal consisted of a nice salad, a generous portion of prime rib with a baked potato and ice cream or sorbet for dessert, all for $37. I enjoyed the entire meal and my server, Anna, was charming, competent and attentive. I only have two suggestions: (1) At the beginning of the meal, a person came around with popovers. Unfortunately, my popover was cold. It should have been hot. I didn't say anything, but the people at the next table did tell their waiter that it should be served hot. (2) The meal came with charred asparagus. In my opinion, it should have been steamed. Charred veggies look like they've been burned and, in my opinion, don't taste very good. Aside from these issues, I loved the meal. I certainly plan on returning.
Too bad we had to wait outside in the cold to be seated during 5 to 10 minutes, even though we had a reservation. Everything was good, no more. Nice gesture : the dessert was free for the birthday boy.
We are used to LB on Santana Row in San Jose and unfortunately this did not meet that standard. They have some work to do.
The food here is mostly good, but none of it stands out. The gnocchi were relatively bland. The calamari were dry and seemed to consist of, or tasted like, mostly onion rings. Service was fast and courteous. The restaurant was very noisy that evening because of a business event, but it's been quieter at other times.
I WENT TO THE lB STEAKHOUSE FOR DINNER ON MY BIRTHDAY. ALTHOUGH i WAS PLANNING ON ORDERING A STEAK, AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE WAITRESS, i ORDERED THE PRIME RIB, INSTEAD. SHE SAID THE PRIME RIB IS A BETTER VALUE SINCE IT INCLUDES A POTATO AND VEGETABLE. ALTHOUGH I ORDERED IT MEDIUM WELL, IT WAS GIVEN TO ME MEDIUM RARE. THE MANAGER COMPENSATED FOR THIS PROBLEM BY GIVING ME A GENEROUS GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR FUTURE DINING. ALL IN ALL, MY EXPERIENCE, WHILE NOT PERFECT, WAS VERY SATISFACTORY.
Was a lovely dinner! My burger and fries were excellent! I will be back!
It was a mixed experience for us. The drinks were good, but took a while to arrive. The crab/shrimp cobb salad was excellent, and the beet salad with Humbolt Fog cheese was also quite good. The steaks were good, but not great but all three sauces were terrible! The side dishes fell flat too, with the fries not crispy enough, the cream spinach tasteless. Service was spotty as well. One plate was served without the sauce and it took several minutes to get our server's attention.
Our guest was from Sweden and she wanted good steak. My filet was excellent but the rib eye ordered by my husband and our guest was disappointing. The steak was not tasteful and seemed small .
We did not feel it showcased good beef to our guest. Very disappointed.
Met up with friends for dinner and was originally seated behind the bar. We requested to be moved to a table away from the bar and were immediately accommodated. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and funny. I have rather a dry sense of humor and he was very responsive to it. His name was Lenny and if you go there I'd suggest you ask for him. The food was exceptional and our drinks were excellent.
We will definitely be returning to LB Steak.
This was for a business dinner with clients and everything was perfect thanks
Restaurant published a special offer to local concert goers. When we checked in, they knew nothing about their own offer!
Another GREAT meal! The steaks are delicious, and the service is always attentive and top-notch, without being overbearing. Although we arrived close to closing time, our server never rushed us, and made sure that we were enjoying the meal. However good the service is, the food is the centerpiece, and we've never had a bad meal here. I would definitely recommend any of the steaks, but I've also had the chicken, which stands out as well. Excellent. Thanks for a wonderful experience - hope to see you again soon.
They know how to cook steaks to one's specifications. Delicious. Nice of them to treat me to a birthday dessert.
We visited Christmas eve between services and had a wonderful time. The service was tops and food yummy, though portions small. The drinks were slow coming but was ok in the long run.
Great service and got d food! Made our Christmas dinner so much more memorable! :)
The steak was sad looking. The thinness looking ribeye I have ever seen. The scallops were outstanding!!!!! The sticker piggy sundae had way too much bacon. My husband got sick that night.
Went on a Wednesday night and it was very loud and there weren’t enough waiters to go around. My group held onto their menus for 15 minutes before getting to order. The price was too high for the value of the food. When my mom ordered a soup and short ribs the waiter said that they were out of both (instead of telling us before giving us menus for 15 minutes).
For the price, I would expect better service and even better food.
Enjoy the food, we have been to Lb many times. For me I think it's hit and miss with servers. I'm not sure if our guy was new or not, but I don't like it when someone reaches across my face to grab a wine glass that I put to the side when I said I might have a glass not sure yet. Then when we asked for more butter and still didn't have when he walked passed, he got upset with his busser right behind my head. Not cool. I still tip well because I know others get part of that.
LB Steak in Menlo Park is totally opposite of the one on Santana Row. The food was less than ok, the whole atmosphere reminded of extremely low key restaurants. I've brought a friend for a dinner, hoping to impress her with the whole experience and, unfortunately, Santana Row location was closed that day(Sat). I don't think I will be attending any of the locations in the future. It was quite a sad evening to say the least.
We were pretty disappointed with our experience. The entire wait staff were all running through the restaurant as if they were being timed. Bread was only delivered to our table after we had asked for it when they were bringing the entree. My medium-rare steak came well done and when I sent it back, no apology was made. The restaurant manager walked by (ran by really) multiple times while my husband had is entree and I was still waiting and never checked in to make sure everything was ok.
Overall, a pretty mediocre experience and well below what I'd expect for what was supposed to be a nice restaurant
Food was pretty good but service was poor. Appetizers came before my drink order, and I had to collar the manager to get a soup spoon for my sister's soup.
The service this evening was poor. The wait staff kept bringing food and wine to our table that we had not ordered. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and we had to wait a long time for the dessert. We had trouble getting anyone’s attention to get our bill but when it came, it was for another table. The food was good but served lukewarm. I like LB Steak and will definitely give them one more chance to improve.
We took friends there to celebrate a special occasion.
The steaks were amazing, and the bar tender did a super job with the drinks we ordered.
Ethan, the host, and Lenny, the waiter, were terrific.
We couldn't get a reservation at our "regular" steakhouse so we went to Open Table and noticed the recommendation for LB Steak. Neither of us had ever heard of it. But we'll be back. Everyone from the host to the manager and serving staff was friendly and we were very pleased with the food and service. We have been converted to a new "regular" steakhouse.
Excellent experience. Good energy. Top notch and attentive service. The steaks were good. The sides were perfect. Bread pudding was excellent. Energetic place but easy enough to conduct business.
We enjoyed Thanksgiving this year at LB. The menu was perfect for us, the portions generous and the service pleasant. Will most likely return! Thank you to the chefs and staff!
Food heavily salted. Sauces were bland and tasted like they were out of a jar.
Steak was good.
Caesar Salad was below average - no taste (no anchovies)
Fried Calamari appetizer was good.
Service was good.
This is a relatively expensive steakhouse. My standards are written at that level. It took too long to get service initially. We had to ask for bread although all tables had it. Ordered a lemon drop and the bartender put salt on the rim. Total fail. They corrected. Steak was ok, but I could make way better at home. They forgot the steak sauce. Had to get up from table to go ask for it. They gave a free glass of wine in return.
I typically don't give negative reviews, but this is unacceptable for a place this expensive in Menlo Park. This place needs to get better or don't bother. So many great restaurants and making a good steak and having good service shouldn't be difficult. I wish LB luck, but won't be going back to find out if they improved.
On the wine list they list Achavel Ferrrer 2014 Malbec but when you ordered they bring 2016 botlle and charge the same amount. I dont think that's right or fair!
We were excited to celebrate our Anniversary at LB in Menlo Park, but the excitement soon ended. Not a fully stocked bar & service was not what would be expected for an upscale priced restaurant. Caesar salads were good but needed more dressing. My steak was perfect but cool as was the baked potato & creamed spinach! Popovers were warm and delicious but needed to ask for butter. We were presented with a molten cake/ice cream for our "special" celebration free dessert. Coffee was COLD---both decaf & regular! Not a restaurant for a quiet romantic dinner as it was difficult to hear each other talk...noisey!! Perhaps less noise in the back of the restaurant?? Will we return....jury is still out!
I took my husband there for his birthday and we were amazed at the excellent service, and how great the food was. We started out with the beet salad, which was amazing. Then we had the cornbread with bacon and Gouda...amazing! The waiter gave us honey on the side without our asking, which complemented the meal. The waiter also made me the best Arnold Palmer that I have ever had and told me that they make their lemonade fresh every day! I drink Arnold Palmer's all of the time and this one was the very best! Our main course was steaks. My husband had the Cowboy Steak and I had the fillet and both were amazingly juicy, tender and delicious. The sauces they served with the steaks were awesome. The entire staff and manager treated us like VIPS. We would definitely return! Oh, I forgot about the scallops appetizer. Very good! Thank you!
First evening diners, yet seated hidden in the very back.
Assigned a server covering the street tables out front, so we saw her for only for the first course and had to flag down anyone around after that.
Server couldn't tell us about some wines, so had to find someone who could.
Worst cocktails: Martini not chilled & watered down; Lemon Drop, not properly prepared, so sent back.
Caesar salads came out in warm bowls (really?), not chilled; sent back.
Friend's filet tolerable.
Teeny short rib over-cooked & no sauce, as the menu said, and she described. Asked someone for sauce; never came.
Manager finally came, so replaced with a slightly larger little rib with sauce 2nd time, but still dry, overdone & inedible. Kindly, manager got me some soup for something to eat.
Flagged someone down to get our check, but had to finally go up to the front desk to pay our bill, as no service person was ever coming back to our table.
Zero for service & quality.
