Lazzara's Pizza Cafe
The food was fantastic. The service was meh. Understaffed on a Monday night when clearly they had reservations for 3 large parties. But again, the food was fantastic!
I've only been there twice, but I love the food and the old timey feel of the place.
Nice small restaurant with quality food at a fair price.
Overall a decent unique pizza (square pie with a different style of crust). Not anywhere near the top on NYCs finest however. Way too much of an overpowering sweet sauce.
We had visited there several times in the past years. We were a little disappointed in the food quality this visit. But overall still a great place!
We chose Lazzara's as it was well rated and close to our hotel. My son had half a cheese pizza which amounted to three square slices - but he seemed to enjoy. My other son had a calzone with cheese and ham. We asked for a side of tomato sauce and were charged for it. My gnocchi with meat sauce was good and I had a salad to start. It's a small restaurant and there are stairs and a narrow hallway to enter. Not super inspiring decor and the staff was so-so. Overall, ok but wouldn't make a special trip.
I had a friend visiting from out of the country and they requested a "real pizza experience" - and Lazzara's certainly delivered! Very cute, old world looking 2nd floor pizzeria and Italian restaurant. I only had the margarita pizza so I can't speak to anything else on the menu but it was superb. Crispy, thin, perfect amount of sauce and cheese. I would absolutely eat here again anytime.
The best pizza ever. Warm and friendly. I always look forward to going.
The best pizza ever. I am going back this Thursday again.
Service slow tonite
No extra plates for pizza after our salad offered
No room on table for three pizzas
Pizza was amazing. Service was excellent.
The food was incredible! Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff was so nice, and it wasn't crowded at all.
Fantastic hidden gem
We loved Lazarra's warm ambience with delicious thin crust pizza, and the attentive servers!
Horrible customer service. Waitress was rude and also forgot to put in our order and waited an hour after we placed it to tell us. Emailed management and they never responded. Called the restaurant and “no manager was available.” Save your time and money and avoid this place!!
Not at all fault of the waitresses, but there wasn't enough help and we had to wait a while for our dessert and our salads were forgotten - but were brought to us upon request after our meal was served. Food is really good. Tight space, but that we knew about and adds to charm. We had an unfortunate incident where one of the patrons got sick by the bathroom (I was in there when this took place). I expected someone that worked there to notice this mess (and smell) but after about 8 min I had to let them know. Soon after it was cleaned. So, not our best experience at Lazarra's (our 4th visit), but we will return at some point.
Went for lunch on my way to the theater-what a great find! Delicious thin crust pizza, nice city restaurant on the second floor. Attentive service. Will be back!
Tucked away on the 2nd floor of what looks like it would be someone’s apartment, you may miss this quaint little place in the middle of the heart of mid town. You feel like you found a gem when inside with its cozy charm and delicious, very fairly priced Italian cuisine. It’s our go to place on the way to the theater district. My daughter claims it’s the best pasta she has had since in Rome.
Exceptional food and service.
You have to climb steps to get into this restaurant.
We booked Lazzara’s because we couldn’t get into our go to Italian restaurant in NYC. We ordered 2 pizzas which were very good and Chicken Parm. Which was very good. Restaurant is small and crowded. The waiter was just ok.
They burnt our fried ravioli appetizer, and when we asked for them to remake it the server had someone else bring us out 2 ravioli (for a table of 5) and inform us that was all they had because the rest were frozen! Pizza sauce had no flavor. We were not impressed at all!
Small but fun and busy pizza parlor. Fast & hot tasty pizza. Highly recommend!
Reservations are honored and the food is very good. Attentive service as well
Food and setting were fine.. terrible server. No water, no refills after requesting water, iced tea is a single serving without refills. Waiter asked if we wanted bread as an afterthought.. like it was a bother. If it comes with the meal.. why not bring it? Pasta wasn't drained and sat in a watery marinara. Waiter sat at the table directly behind us facing us to eat his own dinner. Never asked about our dishes.. never brought a check.. we had to interrupt his meal to get a check. With only one night to eat in Manhattan on this visit... we were very disappointed.
The gnocchis bolognese are amazing! Great place with friendly staff.
Played elevator music. Had to ask for utensils. Had to ask for bread with our pasta dinners. Didn’t offer if we wanted any cheese on our pasta. Salad wasn’t that great. Pasta was pretty good.
Love this place! The food is phenomenal, the service and ambience is lovely. Charming and authentic Italian!
This is a second floor walk up restaurant which is not noted on open table. Restaurant was full and only one waitress. My husband ordered the chicken parm which he said was very good. I ordered penne pesto and it tasted and looked like penne in dirty green water. No taste or texture to the pesto sauce. Sent it back and ordered tortellini which was better.
One Bite! Everyone Knows the Rules!
We arrived at the time of our reservation and the restaurant was empty and we were told the kitchen was not ready for an hour and that they did not have our reservation! Wow! We had children and complained and they somehow hustled to open the kitchen and serve us pizza, which was tasty as always. So it worked out but that they claimed to have no record of our reservation and were not quite open was a huge fail.
This was a perfect reminder of Italy. The pizza was so delicious. We kept ordering more. The salad was easy to share with my husband and everything was just lovely.
Great food. Pretty small with family atmosphere
Low priced for manhattan
Upstairs and not good if handicapped
Food was good. Service was slow but informative. Very hot inside. Air conditioning improvement needed. Not enjoyable when you’re sweating.
Very average, not much to get exited about. Lacked seasoning in the sauce. Ordered Chicken Alyssa which had a red sauce with artichokes. Very bland thin sauce with no real flavor. Fam had pizza that was ok. NY has much better to Offer than this.
I can't give an accurate review... your scale only goes up to 5!!!!
Amazing as always
Great pizza! we were on vacation and wanted authentic NY pizza! while like most NYC restaurants the seating is limited and this is located upstairs. would definitely go back!
