Great place to unwind and enjoy a World Class meal at a fair price, best Prime Rib ever
Hadn’t been to Lawry’s in 39 years. It didn’t disappoint me
Outstanding service and food. Makes for a great evening.
One of my favourite restaurants in Chicago. Make sure you reserve your table to not be disappointed
Celebrated our 38th anniversary this year. Enjoyed the friendly service and we love the meal being served at our table side. We added the lobster tail this year and all the food was outstanding. We also appreciated the anniversary dessert Lawry's served at the end of our meal.
This was the 1st time in all the years dining at Lawry's that the male host did not pull the heavy chair out for my wife to sit.
I didn't notice as I was pulling out my own chair. The chairs are not the lightest.
The host didn't seem to care if we were there or not.
Our server though was outstanding !
My folks, in their 80's, were visiting for a long weekend, and they wanted to take us out to dinner -- they chose Lawry's because they had been there many years before and remembered it fondly from back then. Everything about the dinner was wonderful -- we all enjoyed the meal and fabulous service, and my parents had the opportunity to reminisce of the old days downtown Chicago. We'll be back again without my parents :-)
Even better than Lawry’s Los Angeles. Cozy atmosphere
Get their classic and if you like old style food then you will not be disappointed. They don't take risks, they use a style that has been wonderful for decades. Truly good experience if you want classic food in a nice quiet setting.
Best Prime Rib in the world!
Ms. Anderson was exquisite.
When we want great food we can count on to be at it's best always, this is where we go.
Lawry's never disappoints! No matter which restaurant you visit, you can be assured of consistent, exceptional prime rib and classic service.
It has been along time since my wife and I have visited, but it was just as we remembered and the taste and hospitality was just as GREAT as we remembered!!
Amazing prime rib diner with the perfect flavor and meat tenderness. It was worthy every dollar paid
The restaurant was very pleasant and our server was very accommodating. We ordered a vodka martini, oysters, crab cake, a salad, wine, and of course roast beef. The oysters were so so, the crab cake was mostly bread crumbs not crab. The salad consisted of some lettuce with a tasteless dressing, I sent the martini back because it tasted like they used some really bad vodka. We also had to send the wine back. The second bottle wasn't much better.
However the roast beef was outstanding. On a scale of 1 to 10 the roast beef would be rated as as an 11. It was that good.
In summary none of the food we ordered was particularly good except for the roast beef. If I return to Lawry's (unlikely) I will order the roast beef and not any of the other offerings.
My family and were visiting Chi for a getaway. Everything was just fantastic! The food was great and our carver “Big Daddy” did a great job!!
If you want to make a great family memory, Lawrys the prime rib restaurant will definitely make this happen. Beautiful, old traditions and delicious food!
We dined here in Chicago over our anniversary and it wasn’t even mentioned or observed by staff. Service was poor and unfriendly. Never mentioned that prime rib we ordered wouldn’t be served table side as expected. Mood was loud and not inviting. My husband and I were returning guests and were very disappointed with our experience. Food was tasty but not worth the trip. Recommend going elsewhere. We will not be returning when visiting Chicago again. Better options are available.
At nearly 2 1/2 hours for the meal, prime rib at 1 1/2 -2 hours too long
Will have a difficult time going back.
I had an unbelievable meal here. Ms. Rivkin was our server and she told me she just celebrated her 40 year work anniversary at Lawry’s. She had sass, she was knowledgeable. When the host put us in a booth too tight for 4 people (the other couple had arrived), she asked if we were expecting 4 as she thought she overheard that. We said yes and she said “come with me” and then shook her head at the host. Prime rib meal is a good deal because it is delicious and includes their salad, Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes. I would recommend this place and will visit again when I go back to Chicago!
It's a classic restaurant, old school steakhouse with lots of history. They do meat dishes well. They come around with a cart to serve salad and prime rib. It's a nice touch. It is very expensive, though. Be prepared to spend a lot of money. The service is excellent and the restaurant has a nice, cozy ambiance. I recommend them for special occasions for meat lovers.
Service is absolutely impeccable. Ask for Miss Rogers. Great lady!!!
Our server, Ms. Privkin, if that name is right, was informative, was very conscientious of our needs. We own a restaurant and wish our servers were as at tentative as she was.
would not recommend to anyone ever
Maybe things are different at big city restaurants but I have never experienced "wait time" beyond my reservation time. Seating has always been immediate at the time of my reservation. What was frustrating was that some parties arriving AFTER us were being seated BEFORE us.
While the waitress was efficient and cordial, she neglected to ask my 13 year old grandson what he wanted for a beverage following the taking of our wine order. I have taken my grandson to Ruth Chris in the past. He was treated like a VIP. Not the case at Lawry's. If in Chicago again, we would probably opt for Morton's or Ruth Chris. Lawry's appeared very interesting and was close to the hotel. I gave Lawry's a 4 star overall rating. If I had the option to use plus's and minus's, the rating probably would have been 3+. To Lawry's credit, the food was incredibly good. If I am being harsh in my judgment about not getting seated at 7:30 p.m., please let me know that such experience is not unusual. What I have heard about big city reservations at "hot" restaurants is that, if the customer is late, he or she may have their reservations cancelled. We arrived 20 minutes before reservation time.
The environment is very nice. The prime rib may well be the best that one can get anywhere and it comes with a service that is also of high class.
Always an exceptional meal
Great food and great service.
great evening with friends sharing a prime rib dinner
This truly is a great Chicago dining experience. The food was delicious and the decor and ambiance were exceptional. The servers aim to please and are so accommodating. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the city or looking for a great place for a special meal.
The environment is impeccable all the time
The quality of the food is consistently outstanding
The service can’t be beat
Our server remembers our order from visit to visit Ms Parent...She is teriffic..
Drive 3 hours round trip to dine at this restaurant, which is my favorite! Definitely recommend.
We've been patronizing this establishment for over twenty years...
Lawry's is a part of our family tradition. Our children have proposed marriage there to anniversary and birthdays.
Always a favorite and a special treat when in Chicago. Everything was excellent. Especially enjoyed the excellent service by our waitress, Maureen, and Lawry's Spinning Salad Bowl!
Overall great place. The service was a little slow.
Service is always impeccable, dinner is absolutely delectable. Wine choices are wonderful. Great place for a relaxing, enjoyable evening.
Prime Rib was great as expected. Other menu items are average among other restaurants.
High end price but, portion also large. So, a void over order at one go.
Brooks is the best waiter ever A+
Great food /great service
Good service, reasonable price, nice atmosphere, wonderful steak
