The worst service ever-
I’ve been dining here since I was a kid. Service and quality never waivers. My daughter’s favorite restaurant in Chicago.
wow! we hadn't been there since the 70's and honestly though it was gone, but we had a taste for prime rib and was pleasantly surprised to re-find lawry's! we'll be back, sooner than later this time. the lovely elegant atmosphere, the back round music, the banquettes-gotta love banquettes-with linen cloths and attentive table side service from the friendly uniformed servers and carvers. all over a great dining experience. the food remains tasty fare and good value for fine dining. you get an entire meal for the price.
Nice see new appetizers on the menu but Prime Rib is the thing!
I’ve been coming to Lawry’s since I was a kid. It was a special occasion place growing up. The last few times I’ve been here they do not honor reservations. There is always at least a 15 minute wait to be seated. No matter how busy or empty the restaurant is. This last time it was half an hour. The restaurant is looking very dated. The bathroom is old and always dirty with towels on the floor. I’m saddened to say I’ve fallen out of love with this place. It’s just not worth the money. Lawry’s will always have a place in my heart. I’ll think fondly of the good old days.
Great evening. Food was fantastic and our server, Ms. Hodges, made it an enjoyable experience.
This is the best prime rib dinner. The meat was cooked perfectly.
I'm always dine with your place, with family members and many friends with special occasions.
On Sunday at 5:00 p.m was not busy and many many empty table was available for us to sit in good table. But hostess who was Ms. Daiza gave us table way inside where busboy station is.
I asked her if we can have a table not the end just one table next of corner, She said "No"
I was really up set and unhappy the way she handled. My son asked server if we can move to next table
since my mom is really unhappy with feel like to squeezed corner in. She said yes, no problem.
We moved and finished dinner, our server was fantastic!!!
The food was very good but the price was very high but to be expected. It is clearly a restaurant for a special occasion. At the end of my meal I was asked if I wanted to join a preferred customer program and told about the program, I said sure and then was promptly charged $25. I noticed the charge but was not told there would be a charge to join. I told the waitress I didn't understand that there was a charge and that I didn't plan to be there enough to pay for this service. She was pleasant and agreed to remove the charge. The manager came to my table and stated they removed the charge. I told him that he wanted to ensure that customers were told of the charge before because was not. He became rude and said he was sorry I didn't understand. I told him I understood and the waitress was lovely but she did not mention the charge. He became very rude and stood firm it was my mistake. So I left without further comment and a hand shake. It was a disappointing end to the evening, which could have ended with a apology.
Our waiter Jeff and Chef Alex were absolutely the best. We love Lawry's and at least come once a year, try more than that, but sometimes schedules don't work out.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday. Food was excellent, worth the price. The waitress provided great service. A couple different host staff were rude to us at check in and while we waited to be seated, but the good far outweighed the bad.
As always, Lawry’s presented a fantastic meal with outstanding service!!! The absolute best prime rib dining experience out there!!
For the money, I did not find it as good as I anticipated. The serving was very slow and the prime rib was not as good as say J Alexanders.
Phenomenal service, and incredible Prime Rib!
They charged for items I didn’t order and added items I didn’t ask for. It was just “less than” I’d expected.
Food was cold and service was ok. First time there on a Friday, will not come on Friday anymore but only on Saturday
I hope Lawry's survives for ever . For many years I have
booked a table to celebrate with family and friends
on important occasions with great satisfaction all round.
Born in England the fare is so close to the best of
English cooking as I remember it , not in a restaurant
but in my home, that Lawry'sis naturally a great favorite
Much better than the previous visit, where our waitress ignored us for much of the meal. Fantastic food, as always, and attentive staff this time.
Awesome place as always. The scallops were amazing!
The food was great and the service was excellent. Great place to eat and relax and enjoy great food and a good drink.
They could have better sides and the waitress could have been a little more friendlier
The food was excellent as always, but we were disappointed to be seated at a tiny table in the dining room off the bar, which was not large enough for one let alone two diners. Additionally, as has been my experience of late (over the last year or so) at Lawry's, the front of the house staff was less than pleasant, and the lady tending to us was slower than slow.
It was delicious and they know what they are doing
This is truly my wife and my favorite restaurant. First, I screwed up the reservation and placed in for the following month. They understood and still got us seated, despite having a packed house. The have one of the best waiting areas. I actually like to get their early and sit and enjoy a drink. The feel of the place is very warm and classy and despite having some many people in it, it is not noisy. Then the food is unbelievable. I can't get enough of the prime rib. I get the Lawry's cut and always have leftovers. The cream corn and spinach are too good, I always do a half and half. Never had a bad waiter/waitress all the times I have been their. Oh the spinning salad is amazing. Best place in Chicago and I don't say that lightly!
If you desire an impeccable experience that’s well worth the money, consider Lawry’s. From the exceptional customer service to the awesome entrees, you will be grateful you chose to dine there.
Excellent meal, ambience and service. Initially the sound volume was too high. We asked for the music to be turned down so that we could converse. The server had to turn off the speakers entirely in our dining area, which he did. We appreciated that. We were able to overhear some nearby conversations, but it was not distracting, and we were able to converse at our own table.
After a hiatus due to some service issues, Lawrys is back in place as our favorite restaurant. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our dinner. The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent.
Do yourself a favor and go there!
Food and Service were great. We were a little rushed due to a big party coming in after us
LOVE IT! No comparison. Have been going to Lawry's for more than 20 years to celebrate special occasions (birthdays. anniversaries, graduations, etc) and I have never been disappointed.
Was not impressed at all
Great prime rib and service was great.
Service is excellent but I’ve had better prime rib. We also ask for a parking sticker for the discount parking but the maitre’d gave us an expired sticker so we had to pay full price! It was too cold to walk back to the restaurant! You may want to look at your discount parking stickers!!!
Top notch service, world famous prime rib perfectly cooked, and amazing Yorkshire pudding and sides. What’s more, they got us seated, served, and out for a show in under an hour!
Dropped the coconut banana cream pie. Was always a favourite.
I have been in almost all of the Lawry’s around the world. In Chicago every year I come some times you get a fantastic prime rib and sometimes the carver cuts you a terrible piece of meat full of fat, unfortunately my last experience was not good.
Still I am a big fan of Lawry’s
It was delicious as always and peaceful
Always a wonderful treat to eat at Lawry’s. We have not found a better prime rib meal in all of Chicago-Lawry’s is the BEST. The servers and carvers are long time, experienced employees with knowledge, manners and always make us feel welcome. The ambiance in the former McCormick Mansion is elegant and warm. A true favorite restaurant for us!
Great prime rib and outstanding service. Love this place.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Delicious prime rib as always, getting a bit more pricey but an overall enjoyable evening.
The overall experience was great.
Good prime rib and wonderful service. Very retro 60’s feel about it. Staff couldn’t be nicer.
