View Private Dining DetailsPrime rib was juicy and tender
the food was excellent as always and the heads up call on the freeway congestion was a great help
Atmosphere just great! Food, is mediocre. I just love to go there and people watch. Have fun.
Consistently great food but was a little disappointed in two things.
1) I took my friend for her Birthday. I not only notified the restaurant by noting it on Open Table, but also told the hostess as well as the waitress. After the meal the waitress started telling us about all of the desserts and while we were full we ordered one to share. I assumed that she remembered me reminding her of the birthday 15 minutes before but she brought out the piece of pie with no Birthday anything. When the check came the charge for the pie was on it.
2) I asked on Open Table for table #5. The hostess told me that the people there had just started having there dessert. They ended up sweating us on the tight end of another table across from the booth we wanted. I looked up and saw the people paying their check....not eating dessert. My friend did not want to get up after we were seated so we didn't pursue changing to the booth we requested.
Both of those experiences were disappointing and not the Lawrys style.
We had a reservation, but there was an accident on the 405 freeway, so we were going to be 20 minutes late. The very nice man I talked to, after I explained the problem, assured me that he’d put us down as delayed, and they would hold the reservation for half an hour. Since we were going to Lawry’s for a birthday dinner, this was much appreciated! We all ordered different cuts and doneness to our prime rib, and each was cooked perfectly, though my cut was about 1/3 fat, which was disappointing, though I couldn’t have eaten more. All of us ordered the spinach and creamed corn. Two of us thought the creamed spinach wasn’t as good as we remembered, and probably wouldn’t get it again, though I know tastes change as we age, and we’ve aged a lot! The creamed corn was as wonderful as always, as were the mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The truffle they brought for my husband’s birthday was shared by all-we were too full to order more dessert, though the selections looked wonderful. I have come here on and off over the years, since I was about twelve, and it will continue to be a place for special occasions.
This was my second time since 20 years ago. Ms. Nancy was awesome and was such a sweet woman. The food was beyond perfect. I loved how not only this is the best prime rib in SoCal but it has a history to it. Thank you Ms Nancy for making our dining so wonderful
I got to Lawry’s about 30 minutes prior to my reservation for 8:30pm on a Saturday evening. It was a full house all the way to the bar and waiting area. I checked in when I got there and checked in again at 8:30 because nobody called my name. They told me they were setting up my table.. 15 minutes later, I get the call. They walk us to our table which was all the way in the back near the wine cellar. Our table was right smack in the middle next to the door in the back, with very minimal lighting. I don’t think a table was supposed to be there, but they set one up due to lack of space and to meet my reservation time (which was 15 minutes late). The service was good as always. I ordered a medium rare Brady cut prime and they cut me a medium well. I told our waitress politely and she said she would change it, which took another 5 to 10 minutes. While my dates prime rib was sitting there getting cold, I finally received mine. Instead of coming back medium rare, it came back medium. By that time, I got tired of waiting so I just ended up eating it. Overall experience wasn’t as good as normal.
We had an awesome time! We've dined here several times and never a disappointment. Great food and great service is why Lawry's is my most favorite restaurant.
Thank you,
Roxy
We had an excellent experience.
Okay prices on the sides are to high
Always wanted to eat there so grabbed a group of friends, 7 in total, and dined there last night. We had 7 pm reservations and were seated by 7:30 pm. Place was packed, took 10 minutes to enter valet parking. There were about 20 people waiting outside when we arrived. We were seated at a round table, per my request, the server came to our table introduced herself, although I could not make out a word she said the entire meal, due to noise level. We waited a while for her to take drink orders so my husband went to bar and got drinks for us; they both came to the table at the same time, the server to take our drink order and my husband to deliver the drinks. They only offer one appetizer a shrimp cocktail which was delicious. Okay to be fair I am not a big fan of prime rib but opted to order it as this is why we came, to eat prime rib! Mine was nothing special, a bit fatty and tough. Oh and they serve it with gravy, never saw that before, so if you don’t want gravy on your meat ask them to leave it off. Bread, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were excellent. Bottom line, glad for the Lawry’s experience but with so many fine dining options we will not be back.
Meat cuts are smaller than they used to be.
Great friendly people. Occasion was for my girlfriend's Birthday. Loved the whole dining experience. Very relaxing.
Service was great and waitress was very nice. Had a great time.
Love, love, love this restaurant. Food, servers, management are all wonderful
Drove up from Disneyland to see the Paley “ Love Liza” exhibit, walked Rodeo Drive and had dinner at Lawry’s old Hollywood style day! Great food, service by Carrington, wonderful service, friendly, taught us about wine, I had a $20 glass and it was a delicious merlot that he had me taste first. Great fun!!
Excellent service and they made us feel so special.
Excellent food, friendly service. If you are yearning for prime rib this is the place.
Food, service & ambiance still have the wonderful original quality.
Great food and superb service as always. We always make sure to have our “nice” dinner out here when we visit LA
Two couples for dinner. Lawry's served it's most popular dishes: Warm Sourdough Bread, Salad, Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, Baked Potato, Creamed Spinach, Apple Pie, Coffee. The food quality is consistently very good.
Very special evening celebrating my birthday with my husband. I have dined at Lawry's before in Beverly Hills and Chicago and I must say I am always pleased with the food and service.
Met with clients from Thailand to share a meal while
Discussing business.
Everything was
Great.
Lawry’s is always a ton of fun! Great for group gatherings!
Overall the service was great the lack of the meatballs is very disappointing. I hope that they return and more people complain about that as it is a Lawyrys tradition. Other than that meal was great
My family and I always come to Lawry's for my birthday. The food is always consistent until this time around. The spinning salad was not the best quality salad I've had here. The lettuce was not crunchy nor had any good flavor as usual. I felt the salad was not as fresh as before.
So, we finally order the Prime Rib and usually I order the Big Bowl Cut in medium rare, but on this visit, I ordered the same Big Bowl Cut in Medium. I was not a fan of it. Since, it was my first time ordering the medium, I did not complain. I thought it was supposed to taste like what I was tasting. The meat had no taste at all. It felt like I was cheated, but like I said, I ate it because I've never ordered it at medium. Not only me, but my son which ordered his prime rib in medium said the same exact thing.
Ultimately, if we go back to Lawry's we will have to go back to Medium Rare.
It was ok not as before the flavors are not as good as in the past.
This by far the best place in Los Angeles County for Prime Rib. It is great for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays. The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive.
Everything about Lawry's was perfect. The food is always perfect. Service - spectacular. The prime rib melts in your mouth - the mashed potatoes are decadent, and the Yorkshire pudding unbelievable.
Wasn’t all that. The waitress was speaking so fast . Like she was the teacher and we were the students. Didn’t like her service at all. Food wise has better delicious stake somewhere else
Good, Service allways great.
After waiting 30 minutes past our reservation time, we were shown to a back room that is typically used for private events and that we've never been in before. It was unacceptable, so we were told it would be another 15-20 minutes for a better table. We waited and were given a table in the main dining room (where we've always been seated). There were some grissly parts of my meat that I could not cut through (I had to pull off the meat). Our server was lovely though she disappeared for a long time. I also had to flag down a busboy several times to get water refills. Not the best on service this particular evening. The food was consistent as it has been for decades (except for the aforementioned tough part).
Birthday for myself and one other person! Always enjoy the experience! One of my favorite restaurants!
Lawry's is an LA institution for a reason. I recently went for the first time with my in-laws to celebrate their anniversary. Amazing meal. The food was great and the service outstanding.
Great place for a date or romantic dinner for two. The food is always good and the service is spot on.
Hard to go wrong with this choice, unless you don't like Prime Rib. Old world atmosphere in a quieter dining setting (not quiet just not noisy). Easily a great date place but not a first date (not cheap). It is worth the money though. I took my daughters and a friend and we had a great meal and they learned that fine dining can be quite fun!
Never a bad meal to be had at Lawry's. I have been coming here with family, friends and business for years and each time the service and quality is top notch.
Excellent food and excellent service- the prime rib was perfect along with sides and salad
Birthday ....all three servers where amazing
Very accommodating even though my party was late due to traffic. Waitress Fiona was delightful, as was all staff. Food was delicious and satisfying. Parking lot attendant was able to call a cab for us and kept us updated on its status.
