Lavendou Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The meal was poorly paced. We went to dinner there on a Saturday, and the entire meal too one hour. The restaurant is more concerned with turning the tables over then a properly paced meal in the true French style which they attempt to pull off. This was not the actions of one waiter, but as we observed other tables around us the same rush was going on. Overall the menu, ambiance, and energy should have made this meal a winner. However, due to the rush and lack of a attention to pacing the meal, I would not go back. There are too many great restaurants in the Dallas area to put up with this unprofessional move.
We really love this French restaurant. We hadn't been for dinner in a while, so We decided to go back. We ordered the terraine and the warm goat cheese salad as starters. Then, we split the Dover sole. Absolutely great! Finally the Grand Marnier shuffle to share. Wine prices are also very reasonable. We'll be back. Thanks for a great meal.
We dine at Lavendou often and the food is consistently good and the menus well thought out. We had an out-of-town guest who is a great fan of cooking from the South of France. I always appreciate Lavendou's cassoulet during the winter and we agreed to have dinner there to enjoy a hearty meal on a coooold winter night. Everything was great except the service. Our waiter made an otherwise enjoyable event and unpleasant experience. He was brusque to the point of being rude. I think he was miffed that we didn't order a bottle of wine; however, our guest doesn't drink and I was driving and don't drink when I drive (I'm 80 and I don't need anything else to "impair" my reactive ability behind the wheel)...my wife didn't want to consume a bottle of wine (which was being pushed) and chose not to have a glass of wine since she would have to consume it alone...this somehow made the waiter unhappy (tip?) and he jerked the wine list from the table with such force I thought it would go sailing through the air. We ordered starters, main courses, and our guest had dessert. Again, the waiter was miffed that he couldn't push a soufflé. After he took our order, we didn't see our waiter again at our table until he delivered the check. The room was not so busy that he couldn't stop to see if we were pleased with our meal. He didn't.
Had not been to Lavendou in a long time (due to long drive) and will certainly be back AND
tell all my friends how good it is! We were there to celebrate a special birthday and were all
impressed with the food and service, along with the reasonable noise level and
This was not our first visit, and it was as good or better than the last time. The ambiance, service and food were outstanding. There is strict attention to each element of the dinner which makes the evening a true memory. This was the second time that we had Danny as out waiter. He is personable and goes out of his way to make the evening special. We will request him in the future.
Our first visit on this year's D Magazine Top 50. It was a great neighborhood find. They have been serving great french cuisine for 21 years. Pietro walked me through the heavily French centric wine list, and we had a great Bordeaux with the hose special filet.
There were clearly tons of repeat customers who all seemed to know the owners and wait staff on a personal basis. Our waiter has been there the entire 21 years and did a great job at making us feel welcome and at home.
We will definitely be repeat customers.
I went here with my husband on our first anniversary. This place is AMAZING! Great service, the food is delicious, we could cut our steak & medallions with a FORK! And the deserts... just mouthwatering. I would recommend this place to everyone. We will definitely be returning!
I had read many reviews about Lavendou Bistro and was very excited about dining their. Our server was rude, I’ll- mannered and rushed us. We weren’t the only people who were subjected to his rudeness. I actually witnessed Gumm tapping his watch and instructing the diners next to us to order because “...the restarting has many reservations tonight” (Geez). He never made eye contact with me, rushed us, etc.
The food was good. My son esp enjoyed the escargot, frog legs and quail salad.
I read countless lovely reviews about the French onion soup. It was a disappointment.
Sadly, it was a lack luster experience. We won’t go there again.
Lovely meal, excellent selection for lunch, delicious desserts. Country French decor. Nice service, just enough attention to keep table happy without being obtrusive. Dining room noisy and very busy, but could overlook noise factor with another taste of their outstanding entrees.
Pascal Cayat and Lavendou present an authentic French culinary experience with wonderful bistro style ambience, an excellent wine list with a variety of french selections. The menu is equally authentic, well thought out and expertly prepared. All year is great, but Holiday Season transports you back to Paris!
