Even though it might not be the coolest of the East Village Italian restaurants, Lavagna is right up there with the best.
It's a local favourite. Great every time and the staff are fabulous!
Best of NYC
Amazing service ; impeccable food and options
Good food, attentive service, cool spot. Nothing fancy but solid chow.
We love Lavagna and come here every time we come to New York. The service is pleasant and the food is always wonderful.
Food was amazing. -everything was fresh with great flavor. Enjoyed the special with homemade pasta. The scallop appetizer was delicious.
Both food and service were a 10. Pasta special was excellent. Whole snapper juicy and delicious.
Last minute booking - accommodated us with a great table - fabulous service - delicious food - favourites like spicy sausafe rigatoni and lamb chops - YUM!
A neighborhood favorite.
Lavagna is by far my favorite restaurant. I always take my friends and family when they are visiting. The entire menu is delicious but anyone who is going for the first time should absolutely have the rigatoni. There is nothing like it. Other favorites are the scallops, mussels, fish dishes, and steak.
I think the staff can sometimes come off as brash or not as friendly but other than that, this place is a gem hidden in EV.
This place is great. Homemade pasta staff knows everything about all the entrées services great. Feels like you were in a more cultured New York
LAVAGNA was OVER-THE-TOP...FANTASTIC !!! Kicking myself for taking so long to get here! A truly relaxed, yet upscale/lovely experience. Host/owner Yorgo was fun/funny/attentive and charming! Cannot wait to return! I will be a REGULAR for sure!!!
LaVagna always charms. The food is outstanding, including the rotating specials, and its quality is matched by the warm, thoughtful service from the wonderful team that runs the restaurant. I hope to come back for many years to come.
The food was absolutely delicious!!! From the mussels to the entrees to the dessert. Everything was awesome!
Dinner was great per usual! Ravioli is delicious. Will be back. Thumbs up!
Great neighborhood restaurant. The food was delicious; the service was a bit chaotic but always friendly!
Outstanding! Always a great place for celebrations, dates, or just an excellent, intimate dinner.
We thoroughly enjoyed Lavagna. This was our second visit. Our entrees were
delicious. My husband loved the branzino. We will return again. Cozy atmosphere,
good wine list, and very relaxing.
I've known this restaurant's existence for long, but this was my first visit there. Wow! I should've tried earlier. Great food and wine. Rather tiny space but you don't feel you're being crammed. Great place for any occasion.
The owner was very inconvenient saying to us that our table that was scheduled for 6 and some people were late, was booked again at 7:45 because rents are high. No problem having 1:45 to have the dinner but the way he spoke was nasty.
Dinner here on Sunday, May 6. Seated promptly. Service was pleasant, and friendly. Food was terrific. Atmosphere really nice and fun. Tables are very close together but we never felt it was intrusive. Obviously, we could hear others’ conversations but no one was loud and never felt anyone trying to listen in. So, it’s a busy and lively place but everyone enjoying their own terrific meals and company.
Always an amazing meal. Everything on the menu is great!
Lavagna has it all - great food, attentive service, and very nice decor. Creative menu, with the parpadelle with rabbit one of my all time favorites. Something I never thought I would eat, but can’t wait to go back to have it again! Nice wine selection and a very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great meal, loved everything about Lavgana. Waitstaff and food were excellent.
Excellent ambiance, delicious food, and wonderful service, thanks for asking.
Fast service great tasting food
Good for small group up to 4, food is quite delicious!
Expect to wait for your table if you've reservation up to 30 minutes.
Food was very good and overall an enjoyable evening. More to do with the company than the attitude of the staff, in particular the gentleman who appears to manage the restaurant and the woman tending bar. Both rather rude and not welcoming.
Such a fabulous neighborhood spot. Delicious food, extensive wine list. A real gem!
A neighborhood favorite!
Been going here since the place opened 19 + years ago. The restaurant is still going strong even after all these years. All dishes our wonderful including the pastas, ravioli and all fish on the menu. Save room for dessert.
Loved everything! Great pasta and great service. Will return.
Hidden in the East Village, Lavagna is an excellent choice for authentic Italian food in a cozy, rustic setting.
Always a great place to go. Friendly service and lively, cozy atmosphere. Nice outdoor feel with windows open when the weather gets nicer.
First off, hat tip to our waiter Roy. Very knowledgeable waiter who knew everything about everything I asked and responded intelligently and with much respect.
I had reservation for two with my date, but waited a couple minutes. No big deal because its a beautiful night and the place was packed! Still looked really sexy and romantic with the dim lighting.
It was beautiful out this past weekend, and Friday was a nice night so we decided to sit outside which was the best idea.
Ordered cocktails and our meals.
Octopus carpaccio - top notch.
Fig cheese something - great appetizer
Kale caesar salad - nothing crazy honestly.
Ramp risotto Special Entrée - If i could lick the plate I would have. Great dish. Its a seasonal dish, and they change that special so if you have the chance to go there, get it.
Ravioli Entrée - Great dish. The sauce and ingredients you can taste everything in it.
Dessert Pana Cotta - Really good.
Being in the hospitality/restaurant industry myself, I can appreciate a great dining experience. Thanks for everything and we will be back. Cheers. 👍🏻

This has been our go to spot for years when we have friends and family visiting in NYC. While we live in Midtown West and have hotels there we have our guests at we take the groups down to Lavagna as we know the service, quality and atmosphere will always be top notch and second to none.
