Met a friend here for dinner on a Sunday night, service was great, food was good, 1/2 off all bottles od wine...what more can you ask for.
Honest review time. I went here with a large group of friends for a birthday brunch. I want to mention that this restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate our large group of 10. The table was set when we arrived and we were seated right way. The first issue was most of the glasses and silverware at the table were dirty. I mean STICKY dirty, not a "water stain on the glass" type dirty. Actual food still stuck to at least 3 of our forks. Whatever, we mentioned it and the server and he brought us new glasses and silverware. Great, no problem!
Then we ordered and waited. The food came out promptly. Sadly, almost all of our meals were inedible. The omelets were just like rubber egg flapjacks over cold food. The cheese wasn't even melted. The seasoning was just not to my taste. The risotto was awful, just mush in a bowl. I mean, it was really terrible food. Not one person enjoyed their food. We did eat what we could and we did not send it back since it was consensus that it wasn't going to come back tasting any better. No complaints for service or ambiance. We didn't feel there was anything Manager worthy to complain about, sometimes you just don't like the food somewhere. I'm just really sad to report it wasn't good. I hear the dinner food is good so please don't let this review scare you from trying the local place but I personally won't be dining here again.
Service was incredible. Speedy is necessary when you have a timed bottomless brunch so refills and frequent check-ins from our server was amazing. The food came out a bit too quickly for me to believe that it was made fresh. That was unusual but not concerning 5 mimosas in.
Would definitely go back with friends!
The waiter we had wasn’t very pleasant with my mother who is vegan. He was being very difficult and also didn’t acknowledge my birthday, which was upsetting. I put that in my reservation and ask that it be acknowledged. He needs to watch his attitude. That was my first time and I probably won’t be back.
Though the presentation of the food was nice We were not impressed with the flavor it was very bland. The waiter was curt and made us feel like we were ordering to slow. We had the brueshetta as an appetizer. spaghetti shrimp main course and tiramisu. It is not inedible but it is not good. Very bland as in no real flavor. This is the thickest spaghetti pasta I have ever had. I would not tell a friend to eat here.
Delicious spaghetti bolognese! Great value for the quality and attentive wait staff. Good music too!
Had a wonderful get together with family at Lavagna this weekend. We ordered a ton of food and luckily all different so we got to try a variety of dishes. We'd ordered a cheese and meat board and while the kitchen accidentally sent the wrong 2nd meat, we were able to quickly get the correct one out to be quickly devoured. I had the spaghetti bolognese which quite possibly had the best flavor for the sauce and the noodles were cooked to perfection. If you want some wonderfully prepared Italian dishes, Lavagna is a safe bet.
We had the most amazing family get together at Lavagna. The food is delicious - we had the ravioli; bacon with polenta; lamb and other dishes. The service is so friendly and professional. Can't say enough nice things about Lavagna & our entire experience there.
Very fine place unless you're looking for privacy. We would have liked it to be more intimate but the food and service made us enjoy it very much. Most bottomless Mimosas places I've been to one has to signal the waiter for refills. NOT AT LAVAGNA!
We'll go again. There's much on the menu we'd like to try.
Went for brunch on a birthday weekend. I’ve gone a few times before. They take bottomless mimosas very literally, which is fun and a great value
Lavagna’s authentic Italian cuisine is unmatched. My wife and I are now regulars, who return to be reminded of the amazing food we had during our Italian honeymoon. The fresh pasta and accompanying ingredients are superb!
Customer service was 5-star worthy but the pasta was just meh. The Brussel sprouts are a must when visiting.
I've been here a few times before, but felt obligated to write a review after my last brunch. The bottomless mimosas were great, and our glasses were never empty, and the food was DELICIOUS. I got the eggs florentine and my friend got the marscapone pancakes - both were so good and such a good value.
We left full and more than a little tipsy, all for a very reasonable price. This is one of my favorite go-to brunch places in DC!
The brunch menu is diverse and the food was phenomenal! Service was very good and the price was quite reasonable.
The food was absolutely delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal. The ambiance is nice and cozy. Tables are a bit small, but we made it work. Will definitely go back.
Best tiramisu I have ever had. Excellent service, fresh and delicious food.
Had a wonderful meal with my staff. Everything was great!
This place never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious and the service is great! The noise level is not the best for a cozy date but for a group of friends getting together on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, it's amazing!
First time at Lavagna, for wife's birthday. My "Bloody Eddy" was excellent, and my wife's latte was good. My goat cheese omelet was pretty good, but the egg was way overcooked and dry, the goat cheese and tomatoes not distributed well throughout the omelet so that the outer half was dry and tasteless, and only the center had flavor. I ordered a side of Italian sausage (as did my wife) and we both found it so dry and flavorless that we left most of it on the plate. On the other hand, my wife had the spaghetti carbonara, which she loved -- so the experienced was mixed. The waiter was friendly and attentive, but perhaps a tad too friendly. We're just old-school enough, I guess, that we don't need to be told, "My name is X and I'll be taking care of you today." We don't need to be chums with the waiter. But this is par for the course these days, we know. In sum, I'd say the experience was mediocre, but not deeply awful.
We had a wonderful dinner and our server, Joyce, was great. She knew the menu and had great recommendations. The food was awesome!
Very enjoyable visit with our Granddaughter after the march on 3-24.
Excellent meal with my friends get together while I was in town. From the salads and bruschetta to the lobster risotto, we quite enjoyed our meal. Favorable food simply prepared. I hope to return next time I am in town.
Lavagna definitely lived up to its great reviews! The portion sizes were large and the mimosas were overflowing. Exactly what I was looking for to toast to my new job and celebrate with friends!!
Nice food and drink with good service. One of our neighborhood gems.
Our family was in DC for spring break, was recommended by local and we enjoyed it immensely! Great food, service and experience. Terrance is a pro who took great care of us!
Friends were in town from Tampa and wanted to try somewhere new in DC. I found Lavagna on Open Table and liked the menu. Then I saw half priced bottles of wine on Sundays - and we were planning on a Sunday dinner so that sold me. The food was delicious. Get the scallop appetizer and the bacon appetizer. My lamb ragout was amazing. We had a great time just chatting over our food and wine - highly recommend.
I went with some friends for brunch and had a great time! Our server was friendly and so attentive. I can't wait to go back!
First time at Lavagna, and i was very pleased with the experience. The Food was very good, and they had an extensive wine and cocktail list. I had the parpadalle shrimp, which was very good; the sauce was a little thin for my taste, and needed to have more of it. The rigatoni pesto was incredible, definitely suggest that! Our waiter was very attentive and had a great knowledge of the menu and wine selections.
We all loved the pasta!
As always Lavagna never disappoints. Food is always fresh and tasty and the best bottle of Lambrusco I can find in the DMV!!!!
Amazing brunch as always. I don’t even like sausage and biscuits in general but you wouldn’t believe it considering there was nothing left on the plate. It can be pretty loud but that just depends who you’re next to. Generous pours and always a fabulous time.
Exceptional food, standout service, wonderful value. So happy to have discovered this neighborhood gem on Barracks Row. Menu brings together the best of Italy with the best of mid-Atlantic food and agriculture. Delicious ingredients beautifully prepared with generous portions for a reasonable price. A unique combination--especially in DC. One member of our party has several food allergies and they graciously and artfully worked around each of them to prepare a beautiful meal that everyone could enjoy.
Cozy neighborhood spot with great food, excellent wait staff, just all-around good! Pastas are great, salads good, sides amazing! Desserts were tasty.
Great service! Amazing mascarpone pancakes!
Had Sunday brunch here and the food was delicious. The bottomless mimosa's were a bargain at only $12! The service was exceptional, attentive waiter, quick service, friendly staff. However it was very, very loud. So many people were talking in the small area where we were seated that you had to raise your voice to be heard above them, then they raise their voices, then you raise your voice, and on and on, so yeah, a bit loud. But I would still recommend it since the food, service and price are a deal for Sunday brunch in the Capitol Hill area.
My wife and I were in town from Colorado and wanted to find someplace fun for dinner. We were able to make our reservation online very easily. The food was very good and we certainly would recommend it to friends.
Wonderful brunch! Had the Eggs Florentine: perfectly cooked eggs on top of two pieces of thick focaccia bread with a light mornay sauce. Came with some cooked spinach on the side and house potatoes. Others in our group had the Salmon Omelet; also very good. Drinks were great. Highly recommend the bottomless Mimosas ($12) and the Bloody Eddy (Bloody Mary made with house produced horseradish vodka-yum!).
Service was excellent.
The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! Food is always fresh and in abundance. Great location. Highly recommend. Always a wonderful meal !!!!
This is a great spot for brunch! The food was amazing and you can’t beat the unlimited mimosas for $12!
