Laurel Hardware Ratings and Reviews
I had a mixed experience here dining at the bar- nice but spacey bartender opened and poured a more expensive bottle without letting us look at the label or taste, then disappeared. The mistake appeared on my bill costing me an extra $25. Food was tasty but definitely indifferent service to those eating more than a snack - definitely take a good look at your bill - not amused to pay for the bartender Jay's mistake!
We booked for dinner on Saturday evening for myself and my husband after a recommendation from a friend who knows the Hollywood scene. The place has a very cool vibe, gorgeous outdoor courtyard for dining and bustling bar inside for drinks. The service was exceptional as we were offered tastings of wine (which I always appreciate when you are paying $50+ for it) before we ordered, tips on the menu and just good all round. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it.
The hostess was really rude. She kept confirming that we were getting food, which we did, and planned on doing. If I have a reservation and Im spending money in your establishment, I don't think I should be asked that. Also, they sat us at a communal table although there were open two seaters available and I didn't get any heads up about that. I loved Laurel Hardware previously, now I'll never go back.
Disappointing experience, enjoyed this place many times the past 10 years. Reserved table for birthday dinner, was seated at small high top table with low chairs. Requested to be relocated, denied. Original server informed us with an attitude and eye roll - (clearly there's internal issues) another server was taking over as it's her area. New server (very nicely) apologized and said our table receives the most complaints due to the height of table and low chairs, and how mine specifically was wobbly. After ordering drinks and apps, found the table impossible to eat dinner and attempted to book new RSVP using OpenTable. Unable to book new dinner reservations elsewhere as it showed on OpenTable we had not been checked in. Upon leaving, original server cut us off walking to host stand. Older lady host was flat out rude, pompous, unapologetic, condescending, and defensive after politely informing her we were leaving due to being seated at a table suited for drinks, not dinner. We've never left a restaurant hungry and was astounded at the rudeness of the hosts. Younger host started ridiculing the conversation. A simple apology without a condescending arrogant attitude would have been appropriate.
Nice environment, lollipop sprouts were amazing, service was friendly and enthusiastic but lacking in knowledge about the menu and basics like how to make French press coffee. (Has to steep before pressing!) Liked it, but not tops on my list. Want to go back and sit on the patio!
We have enjoyed coming to Laurel Hardware for the past year. We brought out of town guests and it was a disappointing experience to say the least. We have always loved the food, the ambience and the price. The drinks are amazing as well as the desserts. The ingredients are always fresh and delicious.
However, as we were entering Laurel Hardware, we witnessed the chef yelling at his staff. It was embarrassing to witness.
As a foodie, I have enjoyed eating here many times. On the evening of Saturday, November 19, 2017, my impressions turned sour. As we checked in for our 6:30 p.m. reservation, the hostess was uninviting. She did not engage our party and in fact, left us standing by her stand as she walked off and finally gave us the signal to come to her. No welcome from her but picked out a terrible table for us. When I made an inquiry about my displeasure, she actually said to us that "this was our designated" table. When I asked for a different location, she actually started to argue with me. She actually gave us attitude and said that "everyone that comes here has reservations just like you." We were shocked and should have left. I was embarrassed for her and her terrible customer service.
Our wait staff was outstanding and yet we had to be reminded several times that there was a 2 hour limit. When I made the reserves, I understood the policy and wished I didn't get reminded on more than one occasion. I would suggest that you give the customer the benefit of the doubt. We were treated like children and it was a turn off.
I am thrilled that the restaurant is doing so well. We won't be returning and unfortunately, I will not be able to recommend this establishment to my family, clients or friends. I hope you rethink these new rules.
There was so many wonderful dishes so we ended family style so everyone can have a taste. Food, service, and ambiance were great. Loved the tongue and check of the hardware name and front design. Enjoyed the following: Burrata with prosciutto, persimmon salad, duck fried rice, pizza, branzino, avocado salad, arugula salad - all amazing
We were seated on the patio and I was a great ambiance with the lighting and heaters on. The service was excellent. Our server always was there when our drinks needed to be refilled and other workers were always there to clear our table of plates when we were finished. And most importantly the food was delicious!
Hip, happening bar / restaurant. I was there on a Saturday, had a table outside and had great food and dinner in a wonderful atmosphere. Staff was helpful in adding a person last minute and changing the reservation 30 minutes when we were running late. Some places make a big deal out of this, here it was seamless. Thank YOu. Only problem is too few toilets. Who wants to spend 20 minutes in line when you're there to have fun with your friends. One less star for this.
My husband and I dine at Laurel Hardware quite frequently as always the service is spot on the waitresses and bartenders are always accommodating and plesant
The atmosphere is always upbeat romantic and cool
We definitely would suggest this restaurant for a cozy romantic meal a drink at the bar or to meet friends for dinner
Make reservations and enjoy
Food is very good here, but service when busy can be a little slow. Very sceney, so I think it's more about keeping up the cool factor than be a restaurant with fast service. If you're on a loose schedule, this is a good place. If you're on a tight schedule you'll be rushing your experience here - especially on a weekend eve.
Even on a Monday night this place had a great atmosphere, food was great and the garden outside is gorgeous. The lighting is very flattering, it's very dark, which works well in the restaurant but not so well in the toilet, where you need to use the light of your mobile phone to just check the seat is clean and clear!
Service was great and friendly.
We came in just for some drinks, and after waiting with a bus boy staring at us for about 7 minutes at the very fromtvconcierge counter, we finally had the front of house lady bound out of the food eating area on the right - no apology. We explained we had a booking, and then I also explained that we were just wanting cocktails. We were then talked down too and told we needn't book for drinks. We are three Australian girls out of town and just following reservation etiquette according to their website and recommendations from others PLUS help. We got shown to a booth out the back, only to then have probably the most grumpiest waitresses serve us - drinks spilt, no warmth or friendliness a treated like we were annoying the waitress so very, very much. Add to this, just before drinks were served, another different bud boy came to the table and started dumping side plates and cutlery - we explained we were not eating and only explained this (hence the lovely dressing down from front of house staff for reserving and being sat in a booth - unclear why they didn't all communicate?!) - bus boy yanked away plates and stormed off!! We paid $16-$17 for undercoresented cocktails. I love hipster places, and all my guests with me were dressed impeccably, and we reserved, only to have depressed waitresses, overpriced cocktails and staff that clearly don't communicate OR want tips. Go visit and have a look at the gorgeous lay out and interior - but don't exist anything more. Disappointment central. P.S. If the staff read this: we really did mean it when we asked the miserable waitress in our receipt "are you OK darling?"
The booking said that seating areas were not guaranteed, which I figured meant we could be seated at the communal tables, booths, or patio. When my party of 4 arrived at 8pm for our dinner reservation, we were seated in the bar lounge at a small coffee table. We asked for an actual table for dinner service and had to threaten to leave before the rude hostess finally moved us to one of the many open booths. Apart from that, great friendly waiter, delicious food, great atmosphere. Would recommend calling ahead to confirm you will get an actual table.
The food, the service and the ambience were great. We were seated in the patio very close to an other two people table and we could hear each others conversations and had to talk over them. I would suggest they do some seating rearrangements there is a bit more privacy. Other than that I love this place!
