Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar - Fairmont San Francisco
Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar showcases seasonal, California Coastal inspired menus that are authentically local, traditional and innovative. Our Executive Chef Oscar Gonzalez has partnered with local farmers for the freshest, organic produce and free range poultry and eggs, with ranchers for natural and dry-aged beef, and with Monterey’s Seafood Watch for purchasing from sustainable sources.
The Culinary Team produces much of our charcuterie in-house, using traditional cold curing techniques, and handcrafting small batches of items such as sausage, pancetta, and pastrami. Laurel Court features Farm Fresh Salads, Hand-Cut Organic, Dry-Aged Steaks, and Market-Driven Seafood.
We went for “afternoon tea” which I’ve done before at the Fairmont, however this time around the food, table set up, china ambiance were all just not up to expectations. They used cheap metal tea serving pot instead of porcelain like they did in the past. There was no white table linens like in the past. The little sandwiches tasted stale. The creams for the scones were in plastic containers. The ambiance just didn’t feel special like you would expect from the Fairmont. It just felt like a cheap afternoon tea service. I was very disappointed, especially because I know how they used to be. I would instead recommend afternoon tea at The Palace if anyone is looking for a more luxurious and special afternoon tea.
My daughter and I experienced our first Afternoon Tea at The Fairmont in San Francisco. The ambiance was perfect, the waiter was attentive but not obtrusive and the food was excellent. I especially appreciated the care and consideration of my nut allergy.
My reservation was at 12:45 and we were seated at 1:15. The place was empty so I’m not too sure what took so long. The tea brunch option was way too over priced ($70)for it to be Trollz themed instead of an elegant set up. Should have an option for adults rather than making it kid themesd. Service was extremely slow. Had to raise my hand a couple times to get someone’s attention. Lunch menu was good.
The tea service at Laurel Court is amazing; HOWEVER, be aware that the bill will include a 15% "service charge" regardless of party size. Obviously, you can tip more if you wish, but the fact they don't tell you inadvance that's it's included is kind of sly. I'm very sure the majority of people don't even notice it when they total out their bill. So if you tip 20% (which was my plan) on top of the 15% they already added to your bill, the waiter will be receiving a 38% tip. Our service was good but it wasn't 38% tip good.
Terrible service. Overpriced and over cooked bronzino and pasta.
I had dinner with my 12 year old daughter for a special night in the city before going to the Orpheum and we both loved the food! My daughter is not one for kids' menu offerings, so she ordered the chicken over lentils from the regular menu. She ate everything while raving about how good it was. I had the Mediterranean salad with pomegranate seeds and ricotta salata that was also delicious! We come from a restaurant business, so we notice a lot and like good food. What we both enjoyed was that the dishes were a little different - like spices that surprised us and made the meal more interesting.
The ambiance was also just right, the room was beautiful, and the service was right on! Overall a terrific and memorable experience!
Rami was terrific, professional friendly and timely service
Will be back again
He made our nice experience that much more pleasant

At first we we’re not admitted by the maitre d because he said it was fully book and there is no way we could get in. We waited and take photos as it was our first time to enter in that hotel killing time while waiting for my friends flight to Seattle and Hong Kong. Then I thought I try Open Table and I was able to make a reservation at 3:30pm. That was an excellent move. The maitre d was surprised and if it was’nt for Open Table we were not able to take that afternoon tea party. It was expensive really as my friend paid $300+ for 5 persons! With such a lousy maitre d - it was not worth having a tea party.
I love this place for Afternoon Tea. A quiet elegant place for catching up with old friends while being served a delicious selection of Afternoon Tea sandwiches and pastries. Truly a respite from the everyday to mark treasured occasions.
Loved how they accommodated my request for French fries to come with my breakfast 😊
Absolutely lovely! Exceptional food -- highly recommend
High tea is so good and worth it
Nice food service and ambience, price appropriate for the place
High tea was lovely
Great experience, lovely atmosphere, tasty tea sandwiches.
Thanks, Alicia! We would love for you to join us again for our newly themed High Tea this summer!
The staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. We enjoyed the piano performance, he was great and we were able to hear each other speak. It was very nice and I enjoyed it very much, will definitely be back soon. 10/10
We really appreciate your feedback, Alma! Our pianist, Michael, will be performing Wednesdays through Saturdays for your future reservations!
I love coming to the Laurel Court for dinner or afternoon tea.
A beautiful location for afternoon tea, the service was amazing and the team very thoughtful, throughly enjoyed ourselves.
We're happy you had a great dining experience, Elaine! Let us know next time you plan on coming back!
Loved the experience! First time having high or formal tea in the city and was an amazing experience. Went as part of a bachelorette celebration and the presentation, variety, and taste of the tea and assorted sandwiches, pastries, and other finger foods was wonderful. It seemed like they could have used more wait staff for the number of the people in the restaurant, as we had to wait some time to be able to ask for more dishes and to pay the check. Otherwise, was a perfect way to celebrate the occasion :) Will definitely be coming back!
Definitely, would recommend Laurel Court to my Friends.
SERVICE,FOOD,GREAT. Price to my surprise was reasonable!!!
Thanks for the great review, Willard! We would love to host you and your friends in the future!
The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. Our server made sure our honeymoon was perfect and treated us so well! My husband and I look forward to returning soon.
Thanks for celebrating with us, Sam! Let us know when you will be back, we'd love to make a special reservation for you both!
Wonderful stay with our 95 yo mother
We're so happy you enjoyed your dining experience, Theresa! We would love to have you and your family join us for our Afternoon Tea!
We had a grand time!
Thanks, Louis! We would love to see you again!
While we enjoyed every bite of food, the atmosphere and service are severely lacking. Our server regularly walked by our table to wait on other tables around us without giving us so much as a passing glance. When our food arrived the presentation by the server was less than impressive with one item described as “some sort of vanilla cream” and another as “some cake.” I mean, why go through the effort of concocting such scrumptious, exquisite items to self-depreciate them with such dull descriptions? The room also felt cold and informal with most of the guests dining in shorts and flip-flops or yoga tights. The food was great; we even asked for additional savories to take home. But if you’re looking for a true and formal afternoon tea experience, I’d look elsewhere.
Visited specifically for the afternoon tea with a friend and very much enjoyed the experience overall.
The finger foods were quite nice and the tea selection was as well. The parking situation in this area is hit or miss and after one loop around without finding a spot I opted for the valet service.
The hotel it's located in is gorgeous however very touristy. The one thing I'd highly recommend if you're going for the afternoon tea is checking the time. I booked a reservation for 3:15 on OpenTable and the tea service ended at 3:30. Thankfully my friend noticed this and I called for an early slot (which thankfully they had). Otherwise our 3:15 reservation was in the system as a dinner slot. So check the times if you're going for afternoon tea.
Waitress was surly and seemed surprised when we asked for a second glass of water. Quality of food was poor. Breads were stale and popover had been reheated. Gem salad was very good though.
Small Buffett with mediocre quality. The value is good and the service was great.
Afternoon tea was a real treat and delicious. I would recommend to anyone!
Food, service and ambiance was great. My daughter and I felt very special and the food was very delicious.
Just s loud and uncaring place. Price would have been fine had there been ambience and service just feels like they want to get you in and out
My daughter (16) and I went there for tea after a day of shopping in the city. The restaurant was beautiful and created a really fun afternoon.
The location is beautiful. Prices expensive, and the food does not live up to the pricing.
Perhaps my expectations were too high based on previous experiences at other Fairmont Hotels, but I am sorry to say this experience was not even close to high Tea at the Empress hotel in Victoria. The food was decent enough, but the service was very slow even though there were very few other guests. I am happy to pay the 50.00 per person for tea for a great experience, but this was not. Sorry
Wonderful afternoon tea.
Late lunch/early dinner pre-concert Venetian Room
Although we had reservations, it took us over 40 minutes to receive our food and tea, AFTER we placed our order. Our server brought one of two drinks and forgot the second drink ... we had to keep asking other wait staff for our order and for drink refills. For the brunch to be so pricey, I was definitely surprised at the amount of food that was provided... the server ended up bringing additional sandwiches to our table. Ultimately, we paid for the ambiance.
Well this place is fun and the food is very tasty. We enjoyed high tea with them which is 50$ and worth the money. The only problem we had was our waiter disappeared and couldn’t be found after we were done so it was frustrating to be looking for someone for 15 minutes to pay and leave. They charge 6$ every 20 minutes in valet but they will validate you for the first two hours. I’d go again it was fun.
We enjoyed our early dinner at the Laurel Court on Saturday night before the fashion shoe. I had read many of the previous reviews, and the Laurel Court exceeded our expectations. The dining room and the hotel are drop dead beautiful. The piano player later in the evening was a very nice touch. It's a very elegant space. The service was fine, not up to the caliber of the room, but it was fine. The food was fine. The burger and the pasta were good. The French Onion soup was very good. The menu is very limited which is surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner, the fashion show and the evening in the Fairmont Hotel. We checked out the Tonga Room also, and it was very festive!
We did the buffet brunch. It was good. Had a lot of choices...eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, omelette station, fruit, and much much more
