Another special occasion special dinner...
Been coming here since the restaurant was on Connecticut Avenue NW.
My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and the service, ambiance and food were exceptional.
Outstanding experience. Service was superb.
This was truly a wonderful place. The food, the ambiance, the decor and the service was incredible. Very lovely dinner and an excellent place to take someone you love.
This the second time this year and it was great each time.
Another wonderful meal! Celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary!!
Alsatian cuisine in a remarkable setting. World class service and quality that has been consistent for decades.
Food was spectacular, and the service was top notch!
This is the best resturant on the east coast, hands down. If you're looking for an elegant meal from the atmosphere to the place setting to the menu to the service, this is it. It has it all. It is old school French perfect for business or a special occasion. Although I just go solo because I have to fit it in. I've been several times and it's always an exceptional experience.
I had the fixed price lunch today. I chose between several appetizers, salads, entree and desert. Of course there were little courses in between the main courses. Here are the course today: 1) Started with breads and butter plus garlic bread (best ever as I think they brown the garlic and butter before it goes on the bread). 2) a very special Cottage Cheese with shallots, tarragon, chives and a hint of a special ingredient. 3) Appetizer: various pates & sausages. 4) a sip of a white bean purée. 5) Salad: Roquefort salad. 6) Entree: Veal Scallopini. 7) dessert: variety of homemade ice creams and sorbets in a maple syrup leaf cup.
This was lunch, so the portions were lighter than a dinner, thank god. I also had homemade Rosemary infused lemonade soda. Very intense rosemary.
I make it a point to stop here anytime I have to travel through Washington DC. It is tucked away amongst the rolling hills of Great Falls between all the Senator's mansions. A real hidden gem.
Lunch was delicious, especially the salmon
and pate appetizers. I was delighted to find lobster in my bouillabaisse. Wonderful restaurant to celebrate a birthday.
Excellent experience in all respects! We have been coming to L'Auberge Chez Francois for at least 30 years.
This place is like walking into a time warp. Traditional, focus on old school values of good value for money food, great wine list teamed with solid, professional service.
Is it dynamic, modern and fashionable? No but it is homely, guaranteed quality and service.
I have come to realize this is as good a restaurant as you are likely to find in DC area. Nice menu, well prepared food, great service, good wine list. Good prices. Nice location. Never had a bad experience in 20 years.
We took our granddaughter there for a Sunday birthday lunch. Was a very nice experience but a long drive from DC—especially if at night.
As always, we had a wonderful evening with outstanding food. As requested, we were seated at a large table for 4, which was wonderful and very much appreciated. All of us truly enjoyed each course, and an evening at L' Auberge is always a very special one.
Wonderful anniversary dinner!
We have been coming for special occasions for many years, have never been disappointed.
We came here for lunch on our 25th anniversary and I was hoping to give it 5 stars but unfortunately our waiter wasn’t the best. He never checked to see if we needed anything after our entrees were served. On the menu, the salmon was supposed to come with a bearnaise sauce but instead it had a brown gravey with a beef flavor! I wanted to inform him that I thought there was a mistake but he disappeared. We saw him at other tables but he would only come over to quickly refill our water glasses. We wanted to get more wine, but he didn’t give us a chance. I ended up eating the beef flavored salmon which was good after wiping the gravey away from it. When we arrived and were asked if our visit was for a special occasion, we told them we got married outside in the garden. The maitre D’ said he would send us a complimentary glass of champagne to the table but we never got it. So for the many times over the years we have dined at Chez Francois this time was somewhat of a disappointment.
Our waitress was very attentive and friendly in a professional way and made the dining experience very comfortable for my 90 year old aunt. The food was well worth the expense and would consider again for a special occasion. It’s tough to go there and stay on a strict diet because there are so many great temptations. I decided I can make up for my diet downfall but can’t replace the enjoyment we experienced with my aunt. It was the very favorite place for her and my late uncle and is very special to us for that reason as well. Thank you.
My husband and I visited this restaurant for a special anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The staff made us feel special, and the food was outstanding. We will definitely go back for another special occasion.
We loved everything about our evening at L’auberge. The setting is most attractive and the ample parking a bonus. We were welcomed in a cordial but professional manner, which set the tone for the evening. Our waiter was excellent, with the perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. We found all the staff to be efficient and unobtrusive.
As to the food, it would be hard to fault it, from the amuse-Bouche right through to the after-dinner bonbons. When our waiter found that we were indeed celebrating a special birthday but did not want any fuss, he very discreetly produced a dessert complete with candle to add to our enjoyment.
Thanks to all concerned for making our evening so memorable.
Excellent service punctuated a good meal. I wasn't crazy about my veal chop but everything else was fine. My wife liked her sole. Menu was enticing and the food was authentic. Bring your wallet.
Great looking place, service was good (except the one time we heard waiter shout “shut up” to one of his coworkers. However, food was only ok and definitely not worth the price.
We've eaten here many times, especially for birthdays and anniversaries. The food is consistently very good and there's lots of it when you order the fixed price meal. We find dinner a bit expensive but lunch prices are manageable.
WE had a very enjoyable Anniversary celebration. We decided to go there for lunch, and it was the perfect choice for a quiet dinner together. Staff was excellent and attentive, food was amazing and very complex in flavor. Lovely presentations. The lunch menu its quite a bargain for what you get. We will do this again for sure!
A nice special occasion
Had a lovely anniversary dinner here for third year in a row. Excellent food delightful ambience.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and did the Sunday Luncheon. As always, we were impressed not only by the delicious cuisine and plentiful portions, but also with the leisurely pacing (which allows one to really enjoy the various courses) and the very attentive care given by our server Sandra. Highly Recommended!
Were able to sit outside on a beautiful Saturday evening and loved it. Very nice setting and fairly private. Food was exceptional as always and service was good. Great for a special occasion and try not to think about the check. Enjoy the experience because it is the exception than the norm.
Food tastes over seasoned from appetizer to dessert.
Chez Francois is an experience. It's a long and lovely meal. Just sit back and enjoy.
We went at lunch for my husband’s 70th birthday. My daughter was so impressed as was our son-in-Law and grand. An experience to rep
As always a top notch experience.
Amazing food and presentation. The food and ambiance were fantastic.
Everything was better than we could have asked for. It was a large family dinner but the wait staff was up to the challenge and kept everyone happy and made the evening a great success. Always impeccable service and delicious food - always an event and much appreciated!
Incredible food and service - a fantastic and romantic setting and dinner for our 16th wedding anniversary. The attentive staff were attentive and charming. They really made us feel special.
We don’t dine here often, but it’s always fabulous. I had a salad, braised beef cheeks appetizer and a veal piccata that was so decadent I may never recover. Frankly, I could have eaten a large bowl of the cheeks and been completely satisfied. If you like dessert, then get the soufflé. Service was great, and they never rush you. It’s out of the way for many in Northern Virginia, but worth the drive. Make a reservation well in advance.
My boyfriend and I had a beautiful meal at l'Auberge. This restaurant has been known to my family for years, and whenever there is a special occasion to celebrate, l'Auberge is at the top of the list. We were seated quickly after our coats were taken, and were greeted by the sommelier who went ahead and picked out a great wine we both enjoyed. The service was excellent. Even thoug we ordered souffles, the chef very kindly sent us a baked Alaska on the House to celebrate our special night. The food is unmatched in the area—another great night at L'Auberge for the books!
