View Private Dining DetailsThe restaurant is still terrific! Our recent Sunday Luncheon met or exceeded expectations in every way. Thank you!
My favorite. After having been a patron for over 20years I have never been disappointed.
Excellent in every way. We were originally seated in an area with a loud group nearby. Our request for a change of seating was graciously accommodated.
It is always a first class experience at L’Auberge from food to service! An outdoor dining patio like no other in our region!
The food, service, experience, everything was amazing!!!!!
We had heard rave reviews from friends and had to give L'Auberge a try. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. The meal was very good but unfortunately my twin tenderloins were done too well. My wife's lamb was done perfectly. The rest of the meal was very good. Although we had expected the meal to be expensive, compared to other high-cost venues, I just didn't think it matched up. L'Auberge is well worth the try if you're looking for something special and willing to pay the the price. Just know what you're getting into!
We have been going here for 37 years and it is always excellent. $44 /person 3-course lunch is a steel. Highly recommend.
I’ve heard wonderful things about this place for the last 20-25 years or so.
I never went because I thought it would be extremely expensive, I am now kicking myself out of missing 2 decades of really amazing, delicious, wonderful dining experiences.
I eat out a lot, and spend ridiculous amounts of money to most at sushi bars, and gastro places. Chez Francois was really modestly priced considering the food, food portions, ambience and superb service I experienced with Sammy, Sammi?
Already planning the next time I can get away and savor the food buzz that comes with the dining experience there.
No need for a special occasion, treat yourself!
We went here to celebrate a special birthday. The experience was exquisite in every way. Great food, great service, great ambiance. This is a wonderful first class experience in every way.
The restaurant was just okay. Not good for the price. Very noisy (loud), food mediocre, presentation very basic, service was very good. Very dated ambiance and menu. Rated among DC best 100 restaurants, really? Not at all.
Fantastic experience. Great service and delicious food and wine. Everybody had a wonderful and memorable experience. Thank you for making us feel special!
This was an off the cuff decision, but it was wonderful! It reminded me of the dinners I've had in Paris, and captured those elements so well. The staff were very kind to us, and were attentive without hovering. We had a nice little table for 2 in the back corner, and it was nice to have as well. Even though it was my (accidental) choice for this resraurant, I'm so glad we went! It was definitely worthy of our anniversary and celebration of graduating officer training!
We had been looking forward to this dinner very much. Because we had been living out of the area for a number of years we haven't been to L'Auberge Chez Francois in quite a while. It was as wonderful as we remembered. The service was perfectly attentive and the food was a feast for the taste buds. Coming back was like visiting a long-lost friend. Now that we're back in the area we won't let so much time pass before we visit again.
Celebrate a memorable birthday or any special occasion. service and food are outstanding. Do not miss this neighborhood gem.
Exceptional restaurant, has been great for years
Easter Sunday: even though it was crazy busy, service and food was top notch. Food came out in a timely manner, kitchen knows what it is doing! A bit on the expensive side over 500 for 4 of us. We still enjoyed every morsel.
Excellent service in a delightful setting. Food was delicious!
Exactly as expected. Absolutly the best in Northern Virginia if not the entire D.C. area. Expensive, but worth the price for a special occasion. It takes time, so don't be in a hurry. We were seated for a full three hours at dinner. Enjoyed every minute of it.
Always a classic, with full dining menu in the main restaurant, and bar dining in the basement pub. Open table reservations recommended for both! Have enjoyed L'Auberge Chez Francois since the late 1970's. A family dining experience, and kid friendly to boot! Cheers~
Fabulous as always. L'Auberge Chez Francois never disappoints. The selection of dishes is extensive and the daily specials are truly wonderful. The meals are an excellent value when one considers the quality and careful preparation. The service is impeccable. The tables are spaced far enough apart that conversation is easy. The wine list offers many excellent Alsatien wines that cannot be found in other restaurants. We eat here 5-6 times a year and the level of quality never varies.
5 of us are here on Friday night. It’s always great. Service is impeccable and the food is so good. A bit too much, so you have to pace yourself. Our favorite for special occasions.
The service is outstanding! Very attentive and friendly and competent!!
The restaurant is a gem — on all fronts: cuisine, service, setting, atmosphere!!
A place to remember and return to!!
The food was good but not great. The sommelier did not begin pouring the wine till we had been there an hour; then poured such small amounts we were always looking for her to come back. The special dessert, opera cake was dry and not very special and the creme brulee was a little bland. Very expensive but not so special.
Wonderful menu and experience for a special occasion. Would highly recommend!
A wonderful experience! Outstanding food; outstanding service.
OUTSTANDING FOOD AND WONDERFUL SERVICE!
A GREAT SPOT FOR A SPECIAL MEAL.
As usual, awesome... always a treat to go there -- food, service, atmosphere are all terrific... it's a standard for very special occasions.
Continues to be a great place to celebrate special occasions. Attentive service, a little on the slow side when competing with a large group. Very good food —chateaubriand was excellent— but the soufflé was a bit disappointing. Nice ambiance, but a bit on the noisy side. All in all, very good. We’ll continue to patron the place.
We’ve been before but many years ago. This experience was the best! We all loved everything! Ordered differently and shared or taste swapped. We brought leftovers home and enjoyed them too. The birthday surprise was yummy!
Be prepared to “dine” about 3 hours.
Great !! Food service and atmosphere !!
Always great food and experience.
Chez Francois has been our go-to place for very special occasions for more than 50 years. The service is over the top - friendly, knowledgeable and un-rushed- and the prix fixe menu offers a broad range of choices for every palate. The food is very much Provencal French - great ingredients and lovely preparations but not over the top. The wine list is pretty extensive with a few reasonable choices in each category. All in all, Chez Francois is good value.
From the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted by multiple employees and immediately seated. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly.
Every course was amazing. We were even surprised with a special complimentary dessert in congratulations on our anniversary.
We will definitely dine there again.
Everything was great. Food , service, ambiance. My new favorite restaurant
The food and service was fabulous as always. We dine here for our anniversary every year, and it never disappoints. A very special place, with a romantic environment.
My husband and I dined with you for our anniversary, but I must say It’s always a special occasion at your restaurant!
The first thing one notices about Chez Francois is its exterior appearance, which is superb. Inside, the staff provides a warm welcome. The room where my wife and I had dinner is lovely, beautifully decorated and furnished, and has tables that are spaced far enough apart to permit private conversations to be held without whispering. The fixed price, four-course menu provides many choices. The foie gras appetizer ordered by my wife was not only superbly prepared, but was also a very generous portion. The chef allowed me to order Chateaubriand for one, although the menu specifies that it is available only for two. And the souffles that we ordered, one Grand Marnier and one Raspberry, were delightful. Too few French restaurants offer these extraordinary desserts. Ali, our server, was knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. We enjoyed a special evening at a special restaurant.
Birthday lunch with a friend. I, and my friend, especially liked the discrete way a dessert was brought to the table for my friend. There was not a lot of commotion made and at our age that is appreciated, it was nice to be feted quietly. As always the food and the service were outstanding.
The food was delicious, the presentation of the food and the quality was marvelous. I don't have anything bad to say about the meal and the alcohol. I will come back to have a awesome meal again.
However, I am French and I was expecting way more about the services and the people working there. I was a little bit sad to not see anyone French there, I am sure that so many good French waitress that would love to be in the united States as a French server. But that's my personal preference, whether or not the people are French, I'm not going to judge the restaurant by that.
But, we have been very disappointed by our waiter, since the beginning. I am a woman and he makes me feel like I was only a woman. I felt very uncomfortable with this person, I didn't spend a good time with his presence. I invited my husband for his birthday (whoah crazy a woman who is going to pay for his lover, very crazy). When we ordered the house aperitif the waiter ask my husband if I was 21. We are young and I don't have any problem of showing my ID but the fact that he asked my husband for my age I was feeling belittled. I told him directly that he could ask me my age, I felt very bad about it and all the meal was uncomfortable.
Also, he had a very strong accent that normally is not a problem for my husband and I but we can see that he is used to repeat the same text with all the clients, he knew everything by heart so it was very hard to focus on everything.
What I like about French service is that waiter are incredibly respectful, discreet and so polite. This waiter was disrespectful towards me like he wasn't looking at me when he was explaining something. He had a very strange way on doing stuff who was making my husband and I uncomfortable. The service on this kind of restaurant is very important almost important as the food.
Everything was amazing, as always. Food was out of this world, & service was nothing short of impeccable. If you can only eat out of a couple of times a year, this is absolutely the place to splurge! It always transports me out of the D.C. Metro, & into Northern France. Thankfully, we always leave with fond memories, & stuffed bellies.
