L'Auberge Chez Francois Ratings and Reviews
I took my parents for Sunday Lunch for their anniversary. No only was the place too adorable, but it was very quiet and relaxing. You must go hungry, because there are so many delicious courses. Actually the bread and the cheese based spread were spectacular, as well as the short ribs, mushroom crepe, and strawberry tart. There was plenty of time in between courses, and the service was spectacular. Going for lunch was also a great idea because it seems like it was half the price of dinner.
We had such a lovely evening, I have been to L'Auberge as a child growing up in the area and my boyfriend who grew up in the area as well had never had the good fortune of going until now. The service was impeccable, they even gave us a spot by the fireplace saying, "the best seat in the house, especially for his first time." They actually read my OpenTable reservation! :) Everything was on point, the Foie gras is a MUST have but make sure to leave some room for the main course!
The food had several stand outs: the bouillabaisse, complimentary potato soup, and soufflé. Our biggest complaint was the service. No, not the more common problem of the disappearing waiter. Rather, the hovering waiter who refills the wine glass with each sip. We are there, on part, for the experience and each other's company. Let us enjoy that
From the moment you walk into L'Auberge Chez Francois, your every need is taken into consideration. Attentive and caring waiters, very knowledgable about the extensive menu, helping us to make the best decision. Little touches , from the soup to start, to the finishing truffles and cookies, you feel very cared for, but not interrupted constantly like many restaurants. Love to go for any special occasion, I recommend it to all my friends when they ask for a suggestion.
After several years of not visiting L'Auberge Chez Francois we came back for a romantic, anniversary dinner. The menu items have hardly changed but are still very tasty, traditional syle, french foods. The wine list was impressive, reasonably priced with a full range for all different wallet sizes. The service was much better than our last vist several years ago, back to what you would expect from this level of prices. The timing of the meal was excellant, never felt rushed or ignored.
This is one of the finest restaurants around the DC area. Service and food is absolutely wonderful. They make any occasion special for you when needed!! I celebrated my birthday here and it could not have been better. We travel extensively and I can truly say you will not regret eating here!!!
The Service, ambiance, attention to detail and the food are all top shelf and worth the trip out to their beautiful location. Have never been disappointed. It is dignified and peaceful to dine there. The staff is knowledgable and as friendly as you choose them to be, or they will just leave you alone. Never rushed, always at your pace. Presentation is excellant and the wine list is for those who know what they are doing, at all price levels.
This was a wonderful dinner, exceptionally well prepared and flavored. The seafood salad was very fresh tasting. The cider sorbet was really interesting and a nice touch.
There was only one thing that was glaringly flawed, where I cannot give 5 stars to the food. For our entree we had ordered
rib eye for two. This was served table-side, giving the impression it was plated with care. However, there was one entire big slice that was plated which was an extremely fatty & visibly so-- an inedible piece without doubt. This detracted a great deal from an otherwise lovely entree!! I would have much preferred for this fatty slice not have been put on the plate at all!!
We had a very attentive (but not obnoxiously so) waiter, sat at a lovely table overlooking the gardens, and my guest who was celebrating his birthday said "This was the best meal I have had here." And, he has been coming here for years - 50+ and was recognized by the manager.
This was recommended to me for my wedding anniversary and did not disapoint. From pulling into the parking lot to driving away the evening was fantastic. The service was impeccable, ambiance warm and inviting, menu selection was varied and the actual food was spectacular. Having just moved to the area I will be adding this to the top of my favorite places and will be returning.
We had not been back to L'Auberge in 5 years but had fine memories of our special occasion meals there. We live in Annapolis and it is a long ride for us to go to dinner there. So lunch is perfect and the prix fixe menu is incredible. We will be returning in the very near future.
We have been going to L'Auberge Chez Francois for over 30 years.,,,even after we moved from the DC area. We have never been disappointed! Though pricey, the experience is well worth it. It is what fine dining is met to be! Highly recommended for a special occasion or if you want to impress.
Upon entering the restaurant you immediately feel as though you have entered an Alsatian restaurant in France. The decor creates a warm cozy atmosphere, and immediately you are the focus of attention. The staff is impeccable and the food is as it should be, simply delicious from start to finish.
We started with unusual and tasty cocktails. I like that you choose an entree, and that is the cost of your meal. It comes with soup or a number of appetizer choices very nice house salad, dessert and coffee. The hazelnut souffle was sooo yummy. My husband had a mixed seafood dish and I had the Dover Sole, both excellent. The atmosphere is old world, but not stuffy. I suppose the same can be said for the service! The sommelier helped us pick a wonderful bottle of wine, and we did not feel rushed at all as we lingered over coffee and dessert. Occasions really feel special there. Also, for you Marylanders who won't cross the bridge into faraway northern VA, it took under 20 minutes from the Bethesda area - very doable - and worth it.
In a beautiful setting with autumn leaves glowing in the fading light, our return visit to L'Auberge Chez Francois with another couple was like visiting a warm happy memory. The restaurant was a charming as we remembered, and the staff went out of their way to make the meal special. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with perfect service, seated at a table with a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. We relaxed into the evening and were able to spend a luxurious three hours in quiet conversation and left feeling the warm glow of a completely perfect experience.
My husband and I went here for our wedding anniversary. WOW...I had heard about this place for years but had never been. It was fantastic. So romantic and every detail was perfect. The wait staff was amazing yet not stuffy and hard to talk to. We asked lots of questions and were never made to feel stupid about it since it was our first time there. The food was by far the most amazing thing we've had...course after course of mouth watering delights!!!
A really outstanding venue to celebrate my wife's birthday. Heard about L'Auberge Chez Francois from a coworker who'd gone there with his wife after their wedding. I really had no more information but the recommendation from my friend. Glad I listened to him. We'll be sure to make L'Auberge Chez Francois a regular outing and won't limit it to just special occasions.
Come with your appetite. The food is delicious, once you're able to decide on what to order, which is quite difficult. We went for our wedding anniversary, and while the atmosphere isn't really romantic, it was a dining experience. We went with a split of the Veuve-Cliquot Demi Sec, which was a light and refreshing bubbly. Husband really liked the special salad with spinach and shrimp and I really enjoyed the roquefort salad. I had the fish special and was blown away with the flavors and my husband raved about the lobster and citrus pairing. While the desserts were lovely, creme brulee and chocolate torte, they were the weakest part of the meal. We look forward to trying the soufflee sometime. Dress up for this meal.
We went to L'Auberge Chez Francois to celebrate my 50th birthday. I had asked for a nice table in a quiet part of the restaurant in my opentable reservation and they gave us the perfect table. Service was very attentive from the begging and throughout the meal but not overly so. As expected, dinner was phoenomenal. My son and I shared the chateaubriand for two and the beef and the sides were excellent. Others had lobtster, shrimp, chicken and steak and all thought there meals were very good. The only complaint I heard all night was that there was too much food! The souflet is a must order (even with birthday cake at home).
For a special treat, don't hesitate to visit L'Auberge Chez Francois.
