They never disappoint!!! The food was prepared to perfection. We were lucky enough to sit outside in their beautiful garden patio and had a wonderful 3.5 hour get together with friends. We were never rushed or felt like we had to leave. Love this restaurant!!!!

L'Auberge Chez Francois never disappoints. The food was wonderful, the service exquisite, and the ambience almost perfect. This is one of the finest restaurants in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and it always lives up to expectations.

Usually a superb restaurant. This time the service was slow and the meat was over cooked. Management was exceptional, took notice of the issue and was super professional

We were celebrating my daughters 25th birthday. The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. While it is not a restaurant I could go to everyday (a little expensive for my wallet), it is a great choice for a special occasion. You are not rushed through a meal in order to turn the table. In fact we spent almost 2 hours there in a leisurely lunch. When I mentioned to the server that it was my daughter's birthday he brought her a special dessert complete with candle in addition to the one included with our meal. Chez Francoise never disappoints. Highly recommend

There's no better time to visit L'Auberge Chez Francois than summer, when the produce and herbs grown right on the property is at peak. The tomatoes are so wondrous that my son ordered both gazpacho and a tomato salad and didn't regret it one bit. He tries to veer away from always ordering the tenderloin with Bearnaise sauce, but that sauce calls his name. It was Bastille Day, and we arrived just after one of the popular cooking demonstrations ended and a large group had settled in the big, beautiful dining room that overlooks the patio and gardens. I worried that our orders would be delayed, but events like that don't faze the kitchen. The meal was well-paced and best of all--since we were celebrating three birthdays and an anniversary at our table--we weren't rushed either; the server really gauged our mood. We were also delighted that the chef, Jacques Haeringer, touched base with everyone in the dining room. Do yourself a favor this summer: Order the gazpacho and a lobster salad with vanilla vinaigrette, sit on the patio, check out the gardens, and give thanks for gems like this.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Whenever, I have a special occasion to celebrate anything, I choose this restaurant as my first choice. It is a bit pricey, but it is worth it to be able to dine on fabulous food in a charming atmosphere. I recommend this restaurant for a lovely lunch or dinner.

As a foodie who is lactose intolerant, I just didn’t think this restaurant was able to provide what i typically expect at a fine dining establishment. I have never had bland French food & w/o cremes they were not able to make it memorable. Meats and Vega fresh, service was good, but this meal was disappointing for both of us (my wife is not lactose intolerant and the Bernaise sauce was underwhelming. Maybe the Chef was away for Summer?). Just don’t get all the raves $250 later. Did have the best oysters ever but the main course and dessert need to be on point & sadly were not

Excellent - as usual and as we have come to expect at this great restaurant. Only disappointment was being told, after having been ordered by 3 or 4 people, that they were out of soft-shell crabs. But the selected replacement entrees were equally delicious.

Over the last 30 years I have always regarded this restaurant as the best place to celebrate special occasions. It may have been a bad day, but the care regarding food quality and service was lacking on this occasion. We were served burnt toast. WHile burnt toast is not the end of the world, it should not have left the kitchen, much less been left at the table. Overall the service was slow, which would be expected normally, but the restaurant wasn't full ... possibly they reduced staff, but I counted 4 maitre d types who appeared to show no interest in their patrons (maybe they would have noticed the burnt toast if they only had bothered to visit). While we appreciate the quality of the main dishes, on the whole, my impression is that the interest in quality service wasn't there that evening. We'll have to find another location for our special occasions.

My wife and I took my mother for the Sunday Luncheon to celebrate her 92nd birthday. This was also our first time here. I can only reiterate other reviews by stating that this was a 5-star experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Between the ambience, the presentation of each course, the delicious & plentiful portions, and the excellent service, we felt transported out of Great falls and into Europe! I must also give a special note to the elegant pacing of the meal (leisurely but efficient) and the caring attention of our server, Edwin which added such a personal dimension to the experience. Highly recommended!

Amazing off-the-beaten-path restaurant. The food is extraordinary yet not pretentious. The ambiance is not so dark that you need a flashlight to read the menu, but it is pretty cozy. Bring an appetite as the 7 course meal is quite filling. The drive is quite long unless you live in the proximity of the restaurant, so bring a Designated Driver or get a Lyft because you will not want to drive back even with a single drink in you.

Excellent restaurant with the lovely ambiance of a French country inn. The fixed price lunch or dinner menus have some wonderful options and are really a great value. Of course, you can always order a la carte. We come here often to celebrate special occasions and it is consistently a fantastic dining experience. Make a reservation well in advance for dinner and a few days ahead for lunch. Enjoy!

Didn't think food was as good as it has been in the past. Had soft-shell crabs this time. They were good but better ones are available at many local restaurants. Very good vegetables with them though. Lobster entree good but not exceptional as price would suggest. Good mussels as appetizer but kind of flat sauce. Disappointed in plum tart desert. Had much better ones in the past. Excellent service, very charming interior. Can hear each other speak.

Wow. From the cream of asparagus amuse bouche beginning to the homemade Grand Marnier truffle finish, absolutely delicious. This is not a spot for those interested in a quick meal. The service is friendly, personable and attentive, but the pace is very much slow-food-is-the-way-to-go, and it's a worthy investment of your time and taste buds. We went for a special occasion, and will be back for more! Go hungry.

We decided to revisit L'Auberge for a special celebration. The meal, the atmosphere, the service and the table were all perfect. I had the trout and my husband had the bouillabaisse. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. Our appetizers, mine asparagus and his the crepe, were delightful. Amongst all that you order come little cups of divine soup, palate cleansers, a delicious dip for your toasted French bread. Dessert was lovely too. I am so glad we chose this restaurant, a Washington institution that deserves praise after all these years, for our Sunday afternoon meal.

Once again L’Auberge presented us with a delicious meal, great service, authentic ambiance, and a lovely evening. The seafood matelote was excellent, as was the poached lobster and the soft shelled crabs (special). Downstairs the Brasserie offers a lot of the main menu in a more casual atmosphere, and now some outdoors season.the main level also has a nice patio, weather permitting. Once the only fine dining in northern Virginia, now tables are much easier to come by.
