Still long-standing, great country French cuisine at a reasonable price, especially for the prix fixe lunch. Many vegies are fresh now from their own on-site garden. Treat yourself!
You just can’t beat traditional, time honored French cuisine. Everything from the cocktails, the bread on the table, your dinner and dessert are prepared as if you’re the only person there.
The wait staff is so professional, which is becoming a lost art; attentive, but not standing over you, concealed, but always there, and to me, most importantly, knowledgeable and honest recommendations.
Yes, L’Auberge is expensive and usually just for special occasions, but it NEVER disappoints.
L'Auberge is consistently a wonderful dining experience. Fabulous French service, terrific food, and beautiful setting. The patio is wonderful in the evenings.
A perfect dining experience.
Lovely for a Sunday evening dinner. Will go again soon.
Excellent Ambience. Wonderful decor and spacious seating. The food was exquisite and just the right serving. Good wine list. Service second to none. Maybe considered too expensive for some
My favorite restaurant without a doubt. I can always be assured of outstanding food, service, and ambiance.
Last weekend I brought my girlfriend here and she was very impressed. She can’t wait to go back.
Absolutely wonderful dining. Food was outstanding and the little touches were lovely (tomato soup, sorbet and treats at the end of the meal). Service was inpecable. Prices were priceless - very, very reasonable for each entire meal.
Keep up the excellent success.
We visited for the first time for our wedding anniversary. Normally, we look for special places in Montgomery County. So when OpenTable highlighted this restaurant, I mistakenly thought it was on the Maryland side of the river. After I made the reservation, I read to my wife the history of the restaurant. I wasn't aware that my wife's mother had loved Chez Francois when it was still downtown. My wife remembered the glowing feeling her mother had after coming home from dining there. Last Sunday was my wife's turn to glow. We had a great meal. The service was attentive and helpful. We'll definitely be back, even though it takes a pleasant, hour-long drive for us to get there.
Everyone in our small family group, from age 11 to 88, was ecstatic about this double-birthday lunch. Two of us who have vacationed in Alsace (Eguisheim), and traveled all over France many times, felt right at home, with the food (from escargots to aiguillettes de canard etc), the friendly and efficient service, and the lovely setting.
We can’t wait to return! Who knows, by next time sieskas may be on the dessert menu ;-)
Really enjoyed the meal from start to finish. Servers were attentive and explained the preparation of the dishes well. Wine list was remarkable and we were able to find one of our favorites. Loved the extras that were provided compliments of the chef. Altogether excellent experience. Expensive, but worth it.
great food and service.. pricey but wort it for a special occasion
We went there for our 17th wedding anniversary and so glad we did. It was a memorable evening. The food was amazing as was the service. Looking forward to going back next year.
I love L'Aberge! It is truly delicious food, and superior service! My only complaint is when we came for lunch it wasn't made clear to us that yes the Pre-Fix Lunch is $44 but ONLY if you pick the house salad and house dessert. Not a huge deal, and maybe I just can't read. But I felt this wasn't made clear. Other than that GREAT PLACE.
As always, everything was wonderful. This was my first time there for lunch, and it was a terrific value. We celebrated my friend’s birthday and it was very special!
We often enjoy the food and ambiance. Diverse clientele, but routinely there for quality food, drink and atmosphere. One of our favorites in any cuisine, but superb for tasty country French.
Exceptional service, knowledgeable sommelier, exquisite cuisine!
Fabulous as always. Great food and service.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We went for a special occasion (my husband's birthday) which is definitely the right thing to go for. It is too fancy for an everyday meal. Next time I would also love to try the cute Bistro downstairs.
The hot dessert soufflés are decadent and never disappoint. Love the ambience and the low noise level.
We made a special trip to try this restaurant and we were pleased. The food was flavorful and Zach, our server, as well as the entire staff were attentive to us. The menu is complete. There is something for everyone and a wine to match. We will be back.
L'Auberge chez François is one of our favorite restaurants. The Chef and staff never fail to provide outstanding cuisine and service.
Lovely and memorable dinner. Food was outstanding as was service. My husband and I remarked to each other, that over the 38 years we have dined at L'Auberge (since it's downtown DC days) , the restaurant has been consistently one of the best.
Family get together Have been to Chez numerous times. Introduced to other family members visiting the area. We all loved the excellent food and service.
Always fantastic, pricey, but well worth it. Over 70 years of being in business and still one of two best in the area.
A wonderful place for a quiet meal in a country setting. Well-prepared food served by an excellent waiter.
Awesome anniversary dinner. Service and food was excellent as always. I had the mussels and my husband had the beef cheeks both outstanding. He had the halibut with mushroom sauce and I had soft shell crabs stuffed with crab meat. Once again both were divine. For dessert I had the delicious chocolate soufflé and he had the dark chocolate tart. Fabulous place for our special anniversary.
The meal at Chez Francois was Exquisite. The food was superb the service was prompt and courteous and it was a special occasion celebrating your friend joining us from Japan I have a autographed cookbook from 1974 and most of the menu items were still in there it was exciting
This place was very charming. The service was top-notch, attentive but not intrusive. Every course was delicious; I may be ruined for lobster elsewhere...it was just that good. The desserts were awesome, both the souffle and the berry tart. Would love to return!
The perfect place for a birthday lunch. We had the prix fixe lunch and every single thing was delicious. The service was attentive but not bothersome and we will all return. The grounds are beautiful and it was worth the drive.
We have to drive about an hour each way to enjoy the prix fixe luncheon but it is worth the trip to enjoy this outstanding treat. You can get lunch with appetizer, salad, entree, glass of wine, and dessert for $44 plus tax and tip.
The bouillabaisse is my favorite. They serve home grown heirloom tomatoes and mixed lettuces in season.
Dine on the patio, or in one of the gazebos, in nice weather. We have been here many times and have never been disappointed.
We were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, but then we expected to based on past experiences at this restaurant. By the way, we were married at L'Auberge!
Exceptional in every way.
We always have the most exquisite food at Chez Francois. They really cater to you and the atmosphere is so relaxing. This is our favorite restaurant. We have taken friends and family. We are going back in September for my husband’s birthday.
My favorite restaurant of any place I’ve dined both domestically or internationally
The special occasion was my wife's birthday. We had previously dined at L'Auberge Chez Francois, but this was several years ago. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the dining room was very traditional European. We were shown to our table, and the drink order was taken. One of the things that I enjoy is that there is no rush for you to order, etc. Everything was relaxed and we enjoyed the time we spent there. I liked the fixed price menu, the only thing being that it is a lot of food, and we found that we could not finish it all. Another outstanding moment was when the sommelier overheard us discussing our favorite chardonnay, which was not on the wine list. He volunteered to find a bottle of our favorite wine from their wine cellar, and did so! Everything was delicious, the waiter was polite and friendly, and put us at ease. A very enjoyable experience, overall.
Chez Francois simply has no equal. The exterior of the building is charming. Inside, every room is equisitely furnished and decorated, without ever approaching overdone. The fixed price menu is quite varied; anyone will be able to find something they will enjoy. The service is superb. This is the ultimate in restaurant dining.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Worth every penny. We can’t wait to come back.
Coming for probably 30 years. Always delicious and impeccable service.
Chez Francois remains an outstanding restaurant exceptional food. outstanding service. what a pleasure every time
