Great service and enjoy the fixed price menu that varies on selection and quite a selection. Food is fantastic and well proportioned. Staff is just the right attentive and you can tell experienced
Great Alsatian restaurant. Expensive but worth it. Great ambiance for an intimate dinner.
I've been enjoying Chez Francois since the early 90s. It's always an amazing dining experience, but this recent visit was OUTSTANDING due to the exceptional service offered by David. My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary and David could not have been more attentive (without being overbearing) or charming--funny without being too familiar. Next time we go to Chez Francois, we will definitely be requesting David by name!
Service could not have been more outstanding. Our waiter was patient with the five of us, two of whom were very picky diners. He was also helpful, knowledgeable, and personable.
Food was excellent, particularly the sides, desserts and breads. Our vegetarian entree (only one on the menu)was good, but nothing special; the other entrees were better.
We loved the gratis surprises: the tiny portion of split pea soup after the appetizer, the apple cider sorbet after the salad, and the chocolate truffles and anise cookies at the end of the meal.
We all agreed it was a delightful experience.
This restaurant is a long time favorite. When a special occasion comes along, we cannot think of another place we'd rather go.
We’ve been here many times over our 40 year marriage and the decision to come here for our 40th anniversary was an easy one.
We love this place—it’s like visiting Nana’s— and Tomy is the best among the entire terrific service staff.
Belated Valentine’s celebration
Everything up to through the appetizers was wonderful but my entree, the duck canard, was very disappointing. Bland and odd texture and finish, almost like liver. They did offer a different entree and I went with the veal scallopini which was better but not outstanding. Wife was very happy with her lobster thermidor and I thought it was good as well. Overall the entrees seemed very hit or miss. Cocktails were very dated or overly sweet so disappointing there as well. We will try it again but given its reputation as the finest French cuisine in DC, I was very disappointed.
Absolutely amazing as always and we will be back again soon.
I can still taste the grandmanier souffle!
Surely one of the best desserts ever!
We had an enjoyable time. We were well treated and the food was excellent. Our only disappointment was that we ordered from the prix fixe luncheon menu, but asked them to withhold serving one of the four courses (salad or appetizer) because we didn't want that much food. They readily complied with this request, but pointed out that if we did not consume all four courses we would be charged a la carte prices for the items we did order. We didn't make a fuss over this seemingly illogical policy because we didn't want to detract from our otherwise good mood for a friendly luncheon experience. However, we will certainly remember L'Auberge Chez Francois as a business that is opportunistic about its pricing.
For years, Chez Francois has offered excellence in all phases of dining. The Price Fixe lunch is a very good value with great quality and quantity. It is filling enough to last until the next morning! Decade after decade, CF remains at the top of DC area restaurants.
It was awesome as usual! Always love to see Victoria And Hasan! Always a lovely experience here!
Absolutely stunning in all ways!! Nothing else said!!
Have enjoyed this restaurant for decades. Service is great as is the food.
Just not impressive. Really bad service. If you have any experience with fine dining, you won’t like it. Sure, tons of waiters running around in red vests, but none are coming to your table. And I really appreciated the water person using the water on someone else’s table to fill my glass (each table had its own water pitcher). It just seemed odd. Food was ok. Appetizers were good, entrees were uninspiring. I almost feel like the chef couldn’t make the cut in France and moved to the US because he knew silly Americans wouldn’t know the difference. I expected more. And don’t go if you want to converse with your date. Sooooo loud. Wow. It felt like Olive Garden. And if you have a “sommelier”, he should be pouring the good wine. Lastly, get a valet. You have a huge hilly, rocky parking lot that fills for dinner service obviously, don’t have a guy in a raincoat tell me to park on the street, take care of your customers.
It was my second time at Chez Francois. I love it. The quality of the food is consistent. The menu is authentic French from Alsace Lorraine. It's intimate, rustique and with a great focus on high quality food. It's not a quick bite. You go here to sit and enjoy for the evening.
Always a pleasure to come here. We always reserve this for special events - so it feels like a reward for the family. Excellent service and atmosphere.
Outstanding venue for celebrating special occasions with friends and loved ones--quality of food, presentation and service are top-notch.
Excellent food, excellent wine, excellent service!
