We went to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at a "special place" and did we ever! Service was outstanding and the overall experience was worth the longer drive to Great Falls and the money spent. Interesting place to celebrate special moments in your life.

Excellent as expected. A few off moments. The Wagyu braised beef cheeks were just a simple beef soup. The salad was greens and a vinaigrette without anything else (no onion, tomato, cheese, just greens. Good but...?

The plum tart is my favorite dessert at any restaurant. The plum tart this visit was good but not prepared in the usual manner. Usually, the plums are slices very thin and the layered in concentric circles around the tart. This time, the pit was plucked from the tart and then placed in the tart. No creativity. Good but not what I have had in the past.

In years past you had to call Chez Francios up a month in advance for a reservation. We made our reservation two weeks in advance. The room we dined in had 13 tables. Only five tables had guests this evening. I think there has been a subtle but noticeable decline in the restaurant. Chez Francios is still one of the best restaurants in the DC area. Maybe this was an off night.

There is simply no better place for a high end lunch than L'Auberge. The setting is beautiful, especially on a spring day. The service is prompt but leisurely. The food is wonderful! Make sure you leave room for the dessert soufles.

We went for my daughter's 22cd birthday. They were great at recognizing her gluten allergy (even down to her own bread!) and did not rush us through dinner. The mushroom crepe appetizer was super - actually all food was great. It is a fabulous place to spend a special occasion.

What can I say? Chez Francois always has the most amazing food and service. The best in the area bar none. They are always so accommodating and nice.

My family has been to this restaurant many times. While it is still a place that I can recommend to others, it has been on a gradual decline. After the patriarch died, the quality and value of their meals have suffered. Generally, restaurants ask diners how they wish to have their meats/steaks cooked (i.e., rare, medium, well) and serve it up accordingly. This place did not ask during our recent celebratory dinner. The grilled duck came out completely rare/raw as did the center of the lamb chop our guest of honor ordered. The portion sizes of entrees are very small, even factoring in typical quantities at upscale-fine dining places. Overall, the meals are better than most restaurants, but one would certainly expect that for about $100/person before drinks, tax, and gratuity. On the plus side, the service is superb and the ambiance is excellent. The parking lot can stand to be improved. If you are unlucky and visit when it is raining, you will have to slosh through the gravelly, muddy, uneven, and dark lot. If you're lucky, you will find an empty unmarked spot. Otherwise, you will have to park on the road, next to cars whizzing by on the narrow road. I yearn for the days when they served up outstanding food and an impeccable dining experience.

Had not visited in 5 yrs. Once was 1 of our favorites. 54th anniversary. Food was mediocre and service minimal to fair. Noise was exorbitant considering 8 o'clock seating. Not at all a good value. Disappointing and seeming to be a shadow of its past excellent reputation. We have been going to L'Auberg for 25 yrs.

Came here for a birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint! It was a 40 minute drive from Washington but the food was delicious and the prix fixe meal was a full night experience (got there at 5:30, left around 9:00) so plan accordingly. Each course was very good and the service was impeccable, would definitely recommend for a special occasion!

Excellent service and ambiance. Wonderful selection of appetizers and desserts. We found our entrees very nicely presented and OK, but not at all special. Next time I might get two appetizers rather than an entree. And $8 for a glass of beer??

The service and atmosphere are exemplary. Our only issue with the food was that the meats we ordered (lamb, beef) didn't seem as tasty as we remembered from earlier visits.

Our main issue with this visit is that a party of clearly inebriated people was seated in our room. The shouts to be heard over the people shouting around them were extremely disruptive yet the wine bottles flowed to the table on a virtual assembly line. I realize this was perhaps the most profitable table that night, but it would have been nice if the staff had asked them to quiet down or better yet, moved them to a private room.

First of all let’s talk about service. It’s very poor, the waiter we had sucks. He didn’t even try to keep our glasses of water full, didn’t even check on us if we’re ok, didn’t even try to be friendly with us for the price that we paid it was $280 with tip( foods were $215+ $65 tips). I think that guy probably thought that he could make a little tip from us. What a nightmare!!!! And the food it was average and not even worth the price we pay what a disappointment!!!!!. Nothing was special about the food especially cauliflower purée it was inedible because it was stink. Overall don’t even waest your money at this place!!!!

Old world charm, no doubt.

The orange crepe was too sweet, so are the souffle. This is French restaurant, can we lighten up on sugar!

fish (rock fish?) from Brunch menu is also a bit salty, not as flaky (fresh) as I expected.

Brasserie was very noisy. If you want a quiet conversation, look somewhere else.

What can I tell you, no other place comes close. Food is amazing, service is amazing..only negative is that's it's a 3 hour experience. Which isn't bad...just be prepared.

My favorite restaurant!!

This was my first time dining at L'Auberge Chez Francois and both my wife and I loved it! We've been eating out together for over 40 years and neither of us can recall a more pleasurable dining experience. We sat upstairs in the main dining area. The staff was friendly and our waiter was attentive, knowledgable, and just a generally nice person. But is was the food that really took the prize. Every dish was delightful. Even the bread was superb. As I mentioned, this was our first experience at Chez Francois but, although we live over an hour away, it will certainly not be our last.

Not much changes here. For over twenty years we have come for special dates and never been disappointed. The wonderful garlic bread and cottage starter was exactly what we remembered. The only change was that when we finished the first small plate, a second plate unexpectedly appeared. Can’t complain about that! The meal is never rushed and takes about an hour and a half, which leaves lots of time for conversation. And you can converse because the room is quiet. All the desserts look delicious but the hazelnut cake is so goof that I never try anything else.

The food was outstanding, but service was very slow. Once we complained the manager was eager to see that the server did better, and he did compensate us, and apologize. They just seemed to be shorthanded for the large groups that they had. We have eaten there many times, and we would still recommend it for special occasions, as the ambience and food are wonderful.

We had a lovely meal on a beautiful spring evening and dined outdoors. We had the Chateaubriand which was excellent, but the only drawback to the meal was the accompanying vegetables looked as though they had been sitting under a warming light for a while, which surprised us, considering how wonderful the rest of the meal was.

Considering the quality and diversity of the food the prix fixe lunch menu that includes a glass of house wine is a true bargain and more than worth the drive to the restaurant in Great Falls.

The service and ambiance are excellent.

It's high quality all around and we'll be back.

This restaurant has been a family favorite for the past 50-60 years. We have done many special occasions here. My Dad did wine business with Francoise when the restaurant was in D.C. They became friends. The last time we took my Dad there before he passed away, Francoise was there. The two men hugged each other. My Dad told him that he loved the Plum Tart. Suddenly, my Dad was given a whole tart to take home. He had a piece each day until it was gone. He never offered us any.

The other night I had the Duck with Grand Marnier Sauce--the best. I was sad that they did not have my favorite dessert, the Lime Tart. However, the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake was delicious.
