As per normal, EXCEPTIONAL in every way. The best restaurant in this area bar none.
Absolutely the finest dining experience in terms of selection, quality, ambience, and service. Chez Francois never disappoints with its regular items and the specials are uniformly excellent and worth a try. Do not miss a soufflé at the end. And you will never find a better chocolate truffle to finish off your dining experience.
The food was excellent and the portions were surprisingly plentiful. Excellent value!
We had a very nice anniversary luncheon at L'Auberge -- the selections on the prix fixe menu were ample, the food was delicious and plentiful, the service was attentive but not hovering, the ambience was wonderful, and the prices were reasonable. This is definitely a "go to" restaurant for special occasions, especially if you like traditional French/Alsatian cuisine.
Reliably outstanding service, lovely ambiance and delicious food. A special place indeed!
Everything from the food, the wine, the service and the ambiance was exquisite, as always!
As always, L'Auberge Chez Francois does not disappoint. Everything was excellent.
My wife and I had another of our many dinners at L'Auberge. As usual, the food was outstanding (we shared the Chateaubriand for two). The many courses in the complete dinner were all impressively prepared. I've never had an entree I haven't liked... we have tried them all from fish to steak, lamb and duck. The service was excellent (we were surprised that the restaurant was not filled to the usual near capacity, but it was a Sunday night). It still has the quaint and unique French country restaurant feel. The tables are well spaced to allow for private conversation. We treasure that L'Auberge Chez Francois is a great change of pace from the downtown restaurants where the tables are usually packed tight with sometimes excessive noise.
Absolutely the best, can't go wrong here. Great for special occasions
Probably my 6th or 7th visit. always outstanding! The service is welcoming, professional and attentive. The food is always prepared perfectly. This restaurant takes a great deal of pride in tradition and what they do. One of my favorite restaurants for sure.
L'Auberge Chez Francois is an absolutely fabulous dining experience. From the moment you step in the door until you take the last scrumptious bite and down the last drop of beverage you will not regret one moment of this amazing dining experience
service is always impeccable and the food very tasty but not overly rich
We had a delicious Sunday luncheon to celebrate a birthday. The lobster bisque and salad appetizers were a perfect preview of the tasty main dishes of trout filets, cassoulet and boeuf bourguignon. The birthday “boy” was honored with a special dessert, while the rest of us enjoyed soufflés and cake. This pleasant dining experience was punctuated by the competent and friendly server who was attentive to our requests and queries. We are looking forward to our next Auberge event.
Always a special treat! The chocolate souffle as always was the highlight. The lemon sole was a bit overcooked and the filet mignon was superb.
What a wonderful experience! I simply can't say enough good things about our evening. Ambiance, service, food, wine list...exceptional. We can't wait for another "excuse" to go back.
We always enjoy dining at L’Auberge!!! Our favorite place to go celebrate!
An excellent experience at a DC establishment. We were treated like it was a very special time for them to serve us. And the food was excellent.
Amazing amazing amazing
My fiancé is a trained classical French chef From the culinary Institute of America and has worked at a number five star Michelin French restaurant as well as the fountainbleu in Miami. He was blown away from the presentation, to the flavors to the service. We loved the French onion soup and the Caesar salad. The meats were prepared to perfection and the seafood was flavorful and fresh. Most of all our waiter who was new was accommodating, professional and wonderful!! He made sure our every needs were met. You have to get the soufflé! The bouillabaisse and meat sampler platter were delicious. We celebrated his birthday and we’re so impressed with everything. We can’t wait to bring our friends back.
Amazing meal and great service!
We took friends who had never been to this restaurant. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The lobster entrée was delicious. As was the mixed meats entrée and beef Wellington special. We found a very reasonable Chateauneuf du Pape on the wine list. If you’re looking for a special old world dining experience, this is the place.
This fabulous restaurant is our favorite, by far. The staff goes above and beyond to make your experience with them the best. The food will never be a disappointment! We go to L’Auberge Chex Francois for very special occasions. If the prices were lower we’d go more often, but for now it is saved for special events. We’ve also been to some cooking demos which are informative, entertaining, with an enjoyable meal to top it off.
it's not just a meal, it's an experience. 4 courses plus an amuse-bouche, palette cleanser and after dinner treats. We were there for 3 hours. Certainly not because they are slow, but because it is an experience to savor, slowly. We sat next to a lovely fireplace, the atmosphere is so french country inn perfect. So many appetizers and main course choices, and ALL sound amazing. We had the Chateaubriand de L’Auberge, it was perfectly prepared, so tender and incredible. We also had the soufflé and L’omelette norvégienne (baked alaska), both were to die for. Mind you, this is NOT a cheap place to go to every week, it's expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for, and more. For special occasions, and special nights out, I'm not sure if there is a better restaurant in all of Northern VA. They always rank at the top of every restaurant list for this area.
This is my go-to restaurant whenever I want to splurge or celebrate. The food is outstanding. I love this place. Last time, had the lobster and it was exquisite.
One of the best restaurants in the city. Bar none.
We celebrate my Birthday! We enjoyed dinner and atmosphere. Food is excellent.
The food was perfection upon dishware, but it was the welcoming demeanor and genuine warmth of Chez Francois' impeccable staff that made our evening extra-special. From the moment we walked through the front door we felt like we were being welcomed into a beautiful home and treated as honored guests. A special shout-out to our server, David, who anticipated our every wish and need and, to quote Charles II of England, was "never in the way and never out of the way."
I now understand that fine food is only half of the equation for a special dining experience. Seasoned, friendly, attentive, and sincere staff can take an extraordinary meal and turn it into a magnificent, unforgettable event. Many thanks to all at Chez Francois who continue to maintain L'Auberge as the treasured, one-of-a-kind place that it is.
Delightful! Food was excellent and the choice of fixe price or la carte was a nice touch. Would recommend lunch for a great time.
Superb, as always
Excellent old world ambiance in a country setting. Great service and food.
This is one of our go-to spots for birthdays and special occasions. The menu remains more or less the same and the food is delicious. Beautiful choice for a relatively quiet and cozy lunch or dinner.
Absolutely fabulous! Have lived this restaurant for 40+ years!
We celebrated my hubby's birthday and he thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was fantastic, and we enjoyed the extras that were provided. The staff and ambiance were perfect for a special day! Thank you!
Excellent food, excellent service! Not rushed through a meal. Wonderful dining experience!
Outstanding food and service. Best dining in Northern VA
We were very disappointed with poor quality meats and fish. Salmon was very fishy, beef wasn’t very good quality meat although Lamb was very good. Shiitake scallops au gratin Shiitake flavor was too strong for delicate scallops . seafood remoulade looked like leftover sandwich stuffing. Good salad , sorbet and desserts .
I’ll go back for dessert but i won’t be eating entrees.
Everything was fabulous!
The perfect "occasion" restaurant, L'Auberge Chez Francois doesn't offer just a meal, it offers an event to behold. The attention to detail, wine list, choices are superb, and every member of the staff makes guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Imprccable service and consistently superb food.
We hadn’t been to L’Auberge for a long time; it’s still a great experience. A little out of the way, especially on a very cold and snowy night, but definitely worth the drive. Service was a little uneven even though the room we were in was not completely full. The food was very good, especially the Dover sole. The haricot vert side is recommended. Wonderful bottle of wine. We went for a Baked Alaska for dessert, which I did not particularly care for - too sweet on the outside, too frozen on the inside - but that would be my only food quibble. We are delighted that this place is still doing well.
Started with an OK onion and cheese tart, then a slightly better than average Caesar salad, a nice sliced sirloin steak with decent pomme frites and a disappointing cheese cake - more creamy than the dense NY style cheese cake I prefer and that can be had at The Palm. Throughout there is knowledgable and graceful service that is paced just right. The room(s) are also quiet and charming. On these two latter factors, quite hard to beat. I would rush back if they could just turn the quality of the cuisine up a notch.
