About LaStoria Trattoria
Lastoria Trattoria, located in Boston, is a specialty Italian restaurant that concentrates on specific regions of Italy. Using authentic recipes is only one step it takes to give you a unique Italian taste. Another is to use the freshest fish, meat and produce available and also to import the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and truffle oils used in making the dishes. The menu at Lastoria offers old school pasta dishes that include fettuccini alfredo, chicken parmigiana, baked rigatoni and gnocchi Sorrento. Fill up on a plate of saltimbocca or almond haddock. Try one of the pasta specials like the Fruitti di Mare di Linguine, which is composed of mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari or the Ravioli di Casa, which is a house made ricotta, spinach and goat cheese ravioli covered in a basil Pomodoro sauce. Desserts at Lastori include tiramisu, warm ricotta donuts, cannoli and s'mores bread pudding.

LaStoria Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
I purchased a Living Social Voucher for LaStoria Trattoria, and made a reservation through Open Table without issue. We arrived at approximately 7:10 and were seated right away, as the restaurant was nearly empty. The ambiance was nice, similar to any stereotypical Italian restaurant. Our server, who was very pleasant, brought us water, and walked away without taking our drink order. Eventually, she did take our drink order and informed us of the specials. We ordered the arancini as an appetizer, and while it was a little underwhelming, the flavor was good. We waited quite some time for the server to ask to take our order, and it wasn't until that point that we were informed they were out of both pappardellei pasta and risotto, which happened to be my top two dinner choices. We finally received our entrees at 8:10, right around the time my husband and I were exchanging glances that said, "maybe we should go someplace else." My dinner, which is uncomfortably called, "Sausage in the Pink," was delicious, but the dinner special that my husband ordered was, again, underwhelming. The fact that we got our meal at the discounted price with the voucher eased the blow a little, but it is highly unlikely that we would ever go back, and I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.
It took an excessive amount of time to be seated. The kid running the bread to the tables must have looked at us 6 times and just continued making sure the bread was a priority. Wait staff looked at us multiple times. Still didn't get sat for at least 10 minutes.
Once we sat, it took the waitress an excessive amount of time to get our drink order. Then even longer to get our food order. One thing I can say is she was always apologetic. But reading reviews on this place it sounds like many people had the same experience.
The food was terrible. My salad was barely dressed. I ordered the steak tips. Half of them were burned into pieces of coal. I asked for them to be cooked medium.
My friends meals were horrible.
I will not be going back.
We haven't eaten here in years but remember the food being very good, so we were happy we could make a reservation the day of our visit. We read up on previous reviews and dressed warmly since many talked of a cold room. We were pleased when we were seated at a table with the heater under us! Also, we had read of slow service and since the place wasn't crowded on our arrival we thought we were golden. WELL.....as the dining room started filling up, our service steadily declined. I had ordered a glass of wine with my meal and was never offered a second one. My husband ordered a soft drink and did get one refill but that was it. Our water glasses were only filled once and that became problematic when I ordered a spicy dish and had no beverage to wash it down. Our waitress was a doll but was running the place. She was answering phones and making drinks and cutting bread in addition to serving....and she is 8 months pregnant!!! We thought she might go into early labor as a result of the running around she did. It is clear that the restaurant needs to hire some busboys/water servers who can do those smaller jobs leaving the waitstaff to serve the diners. Our meals were delicious and reasonable priced but after waiting almost 30 minutes for our check (not offered coffe or dessert but we would have declined given the time spent in the restaurant already), it is hard to imagine us wanting to go back, especially knowing our waitress will most likely be out on maternity leave for some time...who knows who will be in charge!!!!
That particular night the service was slow due to a party upstairs so I was told and lack of help. No fault to the waitresses. They were very busy. It took about 40 minutes before the waitress took our drink order. Playing it smart I ordered a bottle of wine instead of a glass! The food was the usual very good! The wait and the service was like this a couple other times I went. I wish they would accommodate situations like this in the future!
We hadn't been to LaStoria for a few years, but our previous visits had all been excellent. What a disappointment! The place was rather empty for a Thursday night -- only a handful of other couples, which gave it a sort of dreary atmosphere (on our previous visits, it was crowded and lively). The food was very mediocre. I had the fruitti di mare. The pasta was overcooked, the shellfish was kind of sparse and tasteless and the sauce was nothing special. My husband had the veal picatta. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The waiter was pleasant enough, kind of laid-back, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but he didn't tell us what the specials were (we hadn't noticed the specials board on the way on, but noticed it on the way out) and he didn't even ask us if we wanted desert (not a big deal, because we didn't). He seemed like he really didn't care. The prices were quite reasonable, I guess you get what you pay for. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't what it used to be.
1st of all- very loud. Good if your there for a happy hour crowd, but not our speed. We ordered no appetizers and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be served. Pasta dishes mind you. No dessert ordered and had to wait more for check. Paid cash as we didn't want a longer stay. Total of 2-1/2 hours of wasted time.
We went Saturday night and we had to wait at least 45 minutes before one of our two appertisers showed up and the second came along with the 2 meals.
Now we explained at the start we wanted ample time to beat the apps before the main meal but that did not happen. But on a bright note our waitress removed $15.00 from our bill because the food was not doned in a timely manner.
I would give the rating on the service 1.5 and the food when we ate it a 4 on taste. It was a 2 hour ordeal.
LaStoria has become our first thought whenever we're going out to dinner. This past visit reinforces that thought. It's, especially, good to find a place where you can sit in a dining room and not be distracted by televisions. (If you want television, you can sit upstairs near or at the bar.) The service was attentive, not overbearing, and well paced. There's always a good selection of reasonably priced wines. The bread and spread was delicious and a request for more was cheerfully fulfilled. The mesclun salad was ample and dressed just right. The haddock special had just enough sauce to add to the flavour of the perfectly cooked fish and the mashed potatoes had their own delicious character.
We have been dining at La Storia since its opening at least six times a year and I have taken groups there several times. Many of my friends in these groups have gone back without me! We are never disappointed in the service, the menu or the wonderful chef preparations. On this occasion we were entertaining a friend from Nevada, who has traveled world wide and eaten in numerous famous restaurants. She was delighted and impressed with the service, food and ambiance. We look forward to a return visit soon.
My wife, a friend and I dined for the first time. Our waiter was Adam, who was friendly but seemed to overworked. Given that, service was not particularly slow. . We were seated immediately and greeted in a friendly manner, Wonderful bread and olive oil came to the table immediately. The menu was extensive and the proportions were plentiful. The food was well above average. The only problem was that our area was cooled by a window a.c. that was turned down too high. The couple next to us had to change their seats. We would definitely go back.
Though it was very busy, our reservation was promptly honoured and the corner booth in the back room was just fine. Our waiter did well to keep up with the onslaught and quickly brought our favourite beverage to get started. The meal was well paced with enough time to pause between courses but not so much that you were left wanting. The food was delicious. We started with a Caesar and a house salad that were just right. We had a scallop and risotto special, that was ample and well done, and the menu's scallop and shrimp pesto pasta was exceptionally good. Another enjoyable dining experience at LaStoria.
This restaurant was so cold we shivered all through dinner and couldn't enjoy our meal. Women all over the restaurant were wearing their coats through dinner. I understand that it is cold here in Boston now but when we go out to dinner we want to get out of the cold and be warm and cozy. Turn the heat on.
Although generally a good bet it really disappointed on this visit. First, seated by the windows it was freezing and although the waiter claimed the heat had been turned up patrons were eating with their coats on. Apple salad would have been good but had enough dressing for four salads. Rustic 1/2 chicken was dry and bland, waiter said several patrons had complained it was flavorless. Only bright spot was the eggplant rollatini which was good. Service was disappointing as well, our waiter seemed to be handling the whole floor by himself.
We, often, visit La Storia because it is so consistently good. The hostess remembered our preferred table and had set it aside for us. Our waiter, Adam, has seen so much of us that he just brings our favourite wine when he first comes to our table. It's obvious that he has gotten to know many of the regular clientele and keeps track of their preferences. Great service!
The fresh foccacia and dipping sauce is wonderful. The meals were delicious. I expect we'll continue to put La Storia at the top of our list because we enjoy dining there so much. Thank you!
La Storia is our favorite Italian Restaurant. We go there frequently. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is efficient and friendly.
Our only complaint was that they had no record of our reservation through open table. Luckily, we were there early enough to get a great table upstairs in the bar.
Although the lobster raviolis were delicious, there were only about 4 on the plate which left me wondering when the rest of my meal would arrive. It never did. There was no spaghetti on the side, and even after dessert, I left hungry. I won't be going back on an empty stomach.
We frequent La Storia because the service is great, the food is, consistently, good and the atmosphere is up scale but relaxed. We were quickly seated in a preferred location and presented with delicious bread and spread. Though one of our party was arriving a bit later, we were given the option of starting on drinks and did so. The wait staff finds a way to be there when you need them while not making you feel like they're hovering or trying to push you any faster than you want to go. The entrees were delicious and filling. We felt very comfortable visiting over dinner. Thanks for another great experience!
We enjoyed dinner here and thought the food was very good. We had the. 3-course specials. The chicken piccata and salad were excellent, however the eggplant rollitini was cold in the middle- weird because the waiter warned me of the plate being very hot (which it was, but the food on it was cold). My husband had the arancini which were great and he lived the bolognese sauce on his pasta. The service was slow, so much so that our waiter apologized and brought us. 1 free dessert to share, which was thoughtful. Good Tirimusu. All in all, a goods local spot, with good food, with good prices.
Family dining at its best. There were 4 adults and 2 children. The truffle fries kept us all happy till dinner, also the fried artichoke was enjoyable, for some of us. Childrens meal was served first, why, I'm still not sure.
The main courses were delish, short ribs dish was tender and flavorful. A pasta dish with chicken was done well.
The filet mignon was cooked to desired doneness, tender and very tasty. Good childrens menu a lot of choices.
They were just okay with their meals, both had meatball sliders with French fries.
It was an all around very nice evening. Great service, good food, nice atmosphere. Try it you'll like it!
he low point was when i need to scrub the bathroom toilet so that I could use it. Two of us were seated at a table that was set for six , the wait staff continually used the empty end of our table as a serving station as they served other tables. Placing food to be served, dirty dishes etc. on the table as they did work. My gin and tonic came out as gin and soda. I mentioned it and they straightened it out on my second drink. I was charged for the first one also! Our appetizers came out quickly and were actually good. At this point I asked for the wine list. We then waited over 45 minutes with no water, bread, or drinks , just a table with dirty dishes , until our undercooked entries arrived. She never even came back for the wine order.
