L'assiette Steak Frites Ratings and Reviews
Simply the best steak frites around! The only place that divides the order into 2 parts to insure hot, fresh quality food on your plate at all times! The owner came to the table to make sure we were COMPLETELY satisfied and engaged us in delightful conversation for at least 10 minutes. Truly a great experience
First time at L'assiette and was really impressed. We tried a number of the appetizers and all of them were great. If you like Foie Gras, theirs is impressive. As our main, we all had the house specialty, steak frites, which comes out in two servings about 10-15 minutes apart. One serving was easily enough for me but it was an interesting idea that I think worked well. Come hungry it is a large meal as a reasonable price. Would highly recommend it.
Granted it was a hot evening; however, the service was non-attentive at best. The steak is divided into two servings "so it stays hot". Neither serving was hot, and the second serving was like waiting for Jesus to return. Sitting over dirty plates for more than 10 minutes was unpleasant, but the sour seperated sauce on the first serving of the main course was worse- and it was room temperature. Really not impressed.
Instead of dineLA they have a dinner for two that includes two glasses of wine but omits fussy and more options in each course.
The dates were superb, will definitely get them again. The Mac n cheese was meh.
The salad was good but hard to be exceptional, but it was very good and the spinach soup was as well. I would but get either again.
The steak frites is their signature dish and it's easy to see why. A very tender cut off meat cooked to perfection.
An excellent meal! This is why I do dineLA, to find places that put out a good meal.
I've been here now about 3-4 times and while each time the food is amazing, the service is not always on par. This visit it took awhile before we could order because I think there was only one waitress working much if not all of the restaurant. Then there was a mix up with what I ordered which was then ultimately rectified. I would just recommend that there be more wait staff on hand to be able to offer the customer service and match the wonderful food!
Really wanted to like this place. The meat board looked like it was packaged at Ralph's and wasn't worth the 20 dollars we paid. The $6 cheese that came with it was good. Hard to get anybody's attention in the restaurant. No manager came over when we expressed our complaint. Left before entrees were out. Maybe an off night.
if you want to impress someone go here.
get the steak with the truffle sauce. watch your friends/families face light up as they take their first bite. it's not like any steak you've ever had. it's the most flavorful piece of meat ever, and the fries are the best. just go and take credit for an amazing meal
Food was delicious. Staff was super friendly- changed my reservation multiple times and they were just as accommodating. Wine list is broad- great options for every budget and palate. Service was slightly slow, but more in a 'laid back' way than a 'we don't care about you' way. Sat at the bar, portions were surprisingly large, especially for the area and the price; and served quickly!! Definitely more bang for your buck than Le Relais De l'Entrecôte and just as (if not more??) tasty!!! Went on Friday night and still had a very cozy, neighborhood gem type vibe goin on. Will most definitely be returning!!
L'assiette Steak Frites has been on my list for over two years. I'd heard from several people that the steak frites was unbelievable and it is. The cuisine is very french. I expected the interior to have more a bistro feel... it's more sanguine. The food and service are spectacular. I'm looking forward to going back again very soon.
We went back for the Dine LA menu which they extended through the end of February. A ton of food: bacon wrapped dates and cheese, soup or salad, a full portion of steak and frites, brownie and ice cream for dessert. All for $39. It was a great deal on a great meal!
Stopped here before seeing a show at The Groundlings for the Steak Frites meal. I wish I could have lingered over our meal here, as it was delicious and plentiful, but we were running late. Our server was super accommodating. We were surprised to discover that they serve the steak frites order in two plates, so you get half your portion first, then they bring out the second half. But the first half was big enough that we ended up not having time to wait for the second. Want to come back!
This place is known for their steak and frites, despite anything else, they also may be good at other dishes but most def, get the steak and frites and get the steak done at medium rare or rare. It is cooked at a process known as sous vide which is water cooking over a long period of time. It is cooked of course and the meat itself is super juicy and goes well with their sauce. They also make some extra crispy fries. The soup that comes with the dish is also well tasted and you get complimentary bread along with your meal. Oh I forgot to say that the meal comes with two servings of each. Service was a little slow and our meal did take longer to come as the restaurant was a little packed. It took awhile to get service around our table and I asked for seating inside the restaurant but they were filled and we got to sit in the cold outdoor area where the heat lamp didn't do too much. Other than that, Food was great.
