About LaSalle Grill
LaSalle Grill, a fine-dining restaurant and steakhouse, is born of the dream of experienced restaurateur Mark McDonnell. Like the restaurant’s namesake, noted French explorer, Robert de LaSalle, McDonnell set out to explore the uncharted waters of downtown South Bend, Indiana. In April of 1991, McDonnell opened a lively and exciting restaurant unlike any other in the area - LaSalle Grill.
LaSalle Grill is committed to providing guests with excellent service, great atmosphere, an award-winning wine list and, most importantly, delicious cuisine that is artfully and dramatically presented.
The Grill has been presented with the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award every year since 1996.

LaSalle Grill Ratings and Reviews
Made reservation for 3 for 6pm through open table . Walked in and was greeted immediately. They had hard time finding reservation. Place was empty. Server seemed new. Not very sure of herself. Wife ordered the filet med rare. Came out rare and without mushroom jus she had added as her topping. Sent it back to cook a little longer and get topping added. Came back still under cooked. My son's NY strip and my medallions were good. Not very pleased. Past visits were much better.
I invited my new business clients to celebrate our business partnership. Their representatives have been in town on and off for about 3 weeks. They remarked that this was the best food of all the places they had dined in South Bend or Mishawaka. Cocktails, starters, entrees and desserts were superb.
I can think of only one criticism and it's the less than comfortable chairs for anyone like me that fights back issues or is recovering from any type of back surgery or rehab.
We will definitely bring our customers back again and again.
LaSalle Grille one of only a couple fine restaurants in the northern Indiana area. Service, ambiance, quality of food are exceptional. Good wine list. Cocktails were only average. We had three appetizers, baked brie, gnocchi, pate. All very tasty. Salads were fresh. My rack of lamb was cooked perfectly, and the scallops were excellent. They are also willing to substitute some ingredients which, to me, is the sign of a really good eatery.
Had a caterpillar on my duck dinner tonight and the waitress did not comp my meal. While I didn't make a huge fuss about it, things happen and they made me a new plate. But the fact that we had to pay for a meal that had a bug in it is very disappointing to say the least.
We were meeting my nephew, who was doing sound for the Morris Center. Our time was more limited than most. Our waiter was excellent and made sure we were done in plenty of time, he also explained the menu. Food was delicious. My husband had the steak and loved it, I had the Arctic Char, excellent and my nephew had the salmon. Dessert was superb. Great atmosphere! A great place and so close to the Morris Center. Thanks Lasalle Grille!
We have dined at Lasalle Grill many times. Always have enjoyed our dinner. We had tickets to see a show at the Morris on Friday so normally the waitress will confirm that with us and make sure that we have enough time to enjoy our meal and make the show (which our waitress did do).
The kitchen staff, however, had some mix up with our order and did not serve it in a very timely basis. It was not the fault of our waitress, she was very apologetic for the delay.
She made sure that we were taken care of as best she could.
Having one "not so good" experience will not keep us from going beack to Lasalle Grill, everyone has an off night every once in a while. Overall we have always enjoyed dining at Lasalle Grill , and the staff has always done an excellent job.
The filet I enjoyed at LaSalle Grill was excellent though the Foie Gras was a bit of a rip off with a small piece (albeit very tasty) atop a big bowl of veggies. Otherwise, the experience was wonderful, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting South Bend.
Our experience was good - promptly seated and the food was very good. The service honestly was a bit curt, which shocked me. There aren't too many high end restaurants in South Bend, so you would think attitude would be a high priority. Maybe a bad day? Other than that, very nice place and we'll probably return at some time. Just slightly disappointed. (Oh and btw, steaks but no baked potato's?).
Our meals were very good and creative, but the server was unfriendly , condescending, and seemed to care less about our dining experience. The manager was kind enough to notice we were not served bread and brought some to the table. We also had an issue with our drinks, receiving one after a wait but not the other. Also, our credit card was charged with another table's bill plus our bill. Unfortunately, The server made this special occasion memorable to say the least.
