Lovely spot away from the bustle of Sonoma square. Delicious food, efficient and warm server, interesting menu. Perfect spot for a respite from wine tasting.
Ordered entrée recommended by server, seafood. Menu did not describe what seafood, and was all clam, mussels, etc, and only one piece of scallop. Allergic to all except the scallop.
My ideal of seafood is crab, shrimp, lobster, unless specified.
Server said, sorry. No adjustment on the bill.
Gave the unedible food to my friend.
Wierd dirt taste in the rest of the entree. Did not eat all of it and would not recommend.
This would not keep me from continuing to recommend this outstanding restaurant, and I will return.
Crab cake appetizer outstanding.
Nice to have still water at the table, appeared to be filtered water, ... thank you.
Great table, great staff amazing food.
Will be back
One of top 5 in Sonoma. Food is consistently outstanding.
EXCELLENT FOOD, SERVICE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
We always come back to LaSalette when we're in the area. Hard to find a Portuguese restaurant, even harder to find one with outstanding food, service, ambiance, and prices. Small restaurant in a courtyard off the main Sonoma square. Started with an amuse bouche, had the heirloom tomatoes as a starter. We both had seafood - shellfish with scallops, fish, linguica and potatoes. Wonderfully spicy and rich. Desserts were flan and a quartet of ice cream and sorbet scoops, both excellent.
We will be back!
The food was wonderful, however, we made a reservation, it was freezy and they only had sitting outside. Our waitress not attentive and did not know the menu very well.
Wonderful service, delicious food, and fantastic environment
Wonderful experience with fresh ingredients. Portuguese wine was amazing. Our server was new and there was a language barrier, but he was accommodating.
We ate on the pretty patio. We ordered the fresh sardines and the Portuguese version of paella. Both were delicious. We shared two wine flights, one red and one white. We each ordered a dessert. Both were outstanding. Usually, if we order dessert at all, we share one. This time, we each had one. Both were amazing.
Excellent food and service . Great steak and sea bass
One of the best dinners I have had. All ingredients extremely fresh and flavorful.
Had a wonderful meal. Highly recommended! Located just off Sonoma's central plaza.
The service was okay. Our waitress disappeared and the bus boy was rushing us by removing the plates before we were done. It was a very hot day in Sonoma in the 90s and the A/C was not running in the restaurant- very hot Even the staff was perspiring
Delicious food and great outdoor ambiance!
Never been there and was very happy with all the selections that were recommended. Would go back tomorrow!
So wonderful to find an up to date Portuguese restaurant. The seafood was fresh and traditionally prepared with a California twist, and the other offerings looked great too. Many little surprises, an amuse bouche, excellent bread and after dinner sweet. We look forward to going back. The patio seating was very comfortable, and blissfully quiet. Service was attentive and polite, and allowed us enough time for each
Our salad was so salty that none of us could eat it. Two of us has the sea bass that completely raw in the middle. Another guest had the cod casserole that was ok but did not wow him
The Brazilian stew was also average according to another person in our party.
We were given several glowing reviews when asked where we were dining, but we are sorry to say that we were disappointed in our experience..
I will say the restaurant was packed so I hope we would be able to give that glowing review if we returned.
One of my favorite places to eat in Sonoma. Consistently excellent -- both food and service!
We had the most wonderful experience! We were seated at the bar (made a reservation for the bar) and were able to watch food preparation in the brick oven...great staff and delicious food beautifully prepared.... loved it!!
My boyfriend and I loved our meal and experience at LaSalette! The service was absolutely wonderful and the food was beyond belief-- so delicious! The seared foie gras was certainly one of my favorite things, but the scallops and the cheese/meat plate was divine!
The whole meal started well with good service and delicious appetizers. Throughout the dinner though, the level of service declined. My husband and I felt like we could never find a member of the wait staff when we needed one, and when we did, we felt like they were not very attentive and distracted. We split an entree, and it was OK. It was a fisherman's stew, and all of the shellfish were a bit overcooked. Overall, dinner was fine, but the whole experience just wasn't on par with the other restaurants we'd been to in the area.
My husband and I throughly enjoyed our meal. The food, service and ambiance were excellent.
Disappointed to pre book and find no table available when we arrived! I say this simply because we overheard guests in our hotel book the same restaurant as us one hour before we arrived and they were comfortably seated when we arrived... is this the power of influence/ persuasion or just poor local management?
We both had the seafood stew. Bad choice because we both suffered identical aftermath symptoms for up to 36 hours thereafter. A case of immodium times two! Accept that this can happen but the seafood was just not right!
Disappointed because of our expectations and local recommendations.
Best restaurant in sonoma. Great food wonderful dinner by experience. Best rolls on the planet
Had Mother's day lunch here. For $25-28 per entree, prepare to leave hungry, since the portions are really small. The food is tasty, but after spending $150 for 3 adults and a child we felt like we had eaten appetizers.
I've always loved this restaurant -- the food and the service. It's still a great place, but I'm a little disappointed that the menu is so seafood-oriented now. They used to have a steak, a lamb, and a pork dish to choose from, but those have disappeared from the menu. A few weeks ago, I ordered the steak, just to change it up a little, but it was smothered in to much stuff for me to enjoy. Hopefully, we'll see some of these old favorites come back.
Never had Portuguese food before. I had sea bass and my husband had the Portuguese stew. Both very good.
We ate a selection of appetizers. The wood oven roasted octopus is always a favorite. The foie gras was outstanding!
La Salette is a great place, Portuguese. Heavy on meat/fish dishes. Great Portuguese wine list. Great fish. Nice outdoor setting when the weather permits.
The food was spectacular - inventive and delicious! The ambiance is cozy and charming. Service was attentive and excellent.
Very noisy, but food was outstanding. Also, very pricey for what you got. Our bill for 3 people was over $300 with tip!
One of our most delightful dining experiences in a long time. We sat at the bar, so we got to watch the kitchen at work - so fun! The food was beautiful, tasty, cooked to perfection! Service was top notch. We are looking forward to a return visit.
This is the finest west coast Portuguese cuisine I've enjoyed, and one of the best in the nation. Creative and authentic dishes prepared with care in a lovely dining space with a very nice patio as well. The service is thoughtful and careful. Additionally, they have put together an outstanding and reasonably priced wine list. All in all, great value. One of the best restaurant -- in any cuisine -- in wine country.
La Salette is one of our local go-to restaurants. Outside dining on the patio or inside with large windows and wonderful tiled wood oven. Specializing in authentic Portuguese cuisine, the food is excellent esp. the fisherman's stew, bacalao, wood roasted mussels or octopus. Today, I had the whole wood oven Bronzino with olives, tomatoes and roast potatoes. Started with Little Gem salad. Anna started with the asparagus salad with egg and the fois gras. Perfect.
Always consistently delicious meals! Appetizers of bean soup & grilled octopus were so good and an entree of paella was a dish we split! Perfect amount of food for two people! Wine choices were plentiful and we chose a rose wine to compliment our meal! We will be back to enjoy another lunch or dinner, soon!
Made a reservation through Open Table and showed up at the appointed time, only to be told that it would be 10 - 15 minutes to be seated. Came back 15 minutes later and were told that it would be 15 - 20 minutes before a table became available.
Food did not seem to be as good as on prior visits. We had a much better experience at a sister restaurant, Lucia, in Healdsburg.
Went for an anniversary dinner while in Sonoma at a conference. The food and service were truly excellent. As they knew it was our anniversary they served us a complimentary glass of cava to start. We have spent quite a bit of time in Portugal, and are familiar with the cuisine, and this was truly authentic.
We had a superb meal at LaSalette. We ordered quite a bit, and enjoyed all of it. We started with a delicious soup, a special made of white bean and garnished with chorizo. We enjoyed the house salad and then our entrees, the fejoada and sea bass. We also loved the polenta and Portuguese Mac-and-cheese. We finished with two desserts, the traditional and the chocolate.
The service was wonderful- attentive but not hovering. One of my favorite all-time dining experiences.
The restaurant is based on Portuguese food. This was a birthday occasion. We started by sharing day boat scallops which were were prepared with a topping of tomato and bacon. They were cooked very nicely and flavorful. My wife had the Seabass which was very tasty as was the Mediterranean-style Seabass that I had. My fish came as a whole fish on the plate with olives tomato etc. It was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed a bottle of Portuguese white wine from the Duoro that was good, not exceptional. There is an interesting range of unusual Portuguese wines on offer. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very attractive. And the noise level is not a problem.
