Best little secret in Sonoma by far. Food was simply outstanding. Going back again tonight to try another dish. Quaint with great vibe, however the food was superb.
My wife and I dined here on the final day of our 12 day trip to wine country. This was the icing on the cake of a wonderful trip to Sonoma and Napa Valley. We started out with a great glass of Portuguese white wine from Douro. A nice break from the Napa wines all week. The salad we shared had a nice fresh acidic dressing with gorgeous mushrooms. I had the Fisherman’s stew. The fresh fish and broth to this dish was extraordinary on so many levels. A great layer of flavors. My wife had the Mac and cheese with chorizo sausage and a side of grilled corn. The corn was full of flavor. For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse to die for. I of course couldn’t resist the port flight. I think that anyone who gives a negative review to this restaurant has no idea about good quality food. I can’t wait to go back and try the pork and clams.
Super great food and service, only irritating thing was that the restaurant did not take AMEX
We celebrated a big birthday here and it was a great choice! The menu is interesting and the food was tasty (for the most part - the Pork & Clam was a bit salty). The servers were very accommodating of our special requests - changing to a different table, using our own table decorations, and even bringing our own cake! They waited patiently through our dining and extra activities. The ambience and location were fitting for the occasion as well. Since we had 5 people, gratuity was automatically added as stated in their policy, but they highlighted it on the bill so it'd be easy to notice - a thoughtful gesture! Thank you for contributing to a memorable evening. We look forward to coming back.
We had a lovely dinner in the courtyard. It was quaint and quiet; the food was excellent, as was the service. We shared the heirloom tomato salad and the whole wood grilled Branzino. We had the Portuguese wine flight and the local, both of which were excellent, with the Chardonnay edging out the Sauvignon in the local flight, to my surprise.
Lovely restaurant with a warm and very attentive staff. Problem is the food. We’ve been to Portugal and the food I ate doesn’t compare. The octopus appetizer, apart from being somewhat meager, was pretty average. My fish stew, their most popular dish, was bitter and very fishy tasting, and not in a good way. The best part of the meal was the Chocolate dessert. That was special. For the rest, pretty average to below average taste. One and done experience.
Food was very good but tables were uncomfortably close and inhibited conversation. Trying to find the restaurant was a hassle as signage was absent on the street and it was located in a difficult to find place as evidenced by needing to tell two other couples we saw when leaving who appeared confused trying to find it. Spread out the tables and get better signage from the street. Food was very good but hard to enjoy with other tables so close.
Our food was excellent the fish and prawns were sooo fresh! Would recommend and return anytime we were in the area.
Order the Whole Fish and the Seafood Stew! Both were outstanding!
Food was OK. No hard liquor. Beer and wine only
We haven't been to La Salette for a number of years, but our dinner experience tonight was outstanding. All the appetizers and entrees were delicious
The presentations were outstanding. Service was excellent. The location off the main square in a side courtyard includes an outdoor patio as well as indoor dining.
Just one note: the Caldeirada was a little on the spicy side.
The wine list featured many Portuguese wines
The desserts were also very imaginative and delicious!
We will be back again!
It was excellent except for a neighboring table with 2 annoying dogs that roamed under other tables and barked at the servers.
As always, the food, the team and the ambience were excellent. Outdoor dining in Sonoma this time of year is ever great and the setting is just plain nice. The food is always great. I have been a diner with La Salette since 1999 (and their sister tapas restaurant, Tasca Tasca since its' opening) and cherish a long time Sonoma institution.
The food was tasty and was served timely. The service is great.
Excellent!! The food was delicious and the service timely! Highly recommend.
Great octopus (wonderful sauces with it), pork belly, and scallops!.
Bacalhau al Forno was very good.
The feijoada wasn't great. Overwhelmed by very bitter kale which we left behind! And the combination of items achieved a oneness of flavor instead of each item being distinct. Great flavor in the rice.
The "Chocolate" and "Traditional" desserts were very good.
Celebrating two birthdays. We had a wonderful time and everything we ordered was outstanding!
Excellent menu selections, everything delicious (salads, appetizers, both fish and meat entrees), attractive and appetizing presentation. The staff is knowledgeable, upbeat, understandable (even with masks on) attentive and efficient. Nice selection of Portuguese wines and local wines.
Delicious unusual food in a lovely patio setting.
A lovely restaurant where we dined outside on a quaint patio. We enjoyed our meal, the service was excellent and the food delicious
Great spot! Great food! Great customer service! The outdoor seating makes it even better!
The host made special accommodations for us (larger table so long as we were done by 7). The server was first rate and set me up with an awesome wine pairing. The support staff were efficient and unobtrusive. A first class outing. We dine here several times per year and this review is a consistent representation of this nice restaurant.
Absolutely phenomenal meal! Definitely one of my most memorable during my trip! Cannot recommend highly enough!
We enjoyed the octopus starter. My husband had the pork and clam dish and I had the short ribs. Both dishes were delicious.
Great staff and food
Food exceeded my expectations. I would 100% return in the future!
This is a great neighborhood restaurant with great food and the ambience was perfect for celebrating my birthday. I would definitely visit again.
Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the food prep; what a fun show
Overall great time at this restaurant food outstanding and service was great
The ambience was charming in every way! We really appreciated the table inside by the window to feel a part of both the patio dining and the cozy interior of the restaurant. The unique Portuguese food definitely met up to our hopes!
We had a terrific lunch at LaSalette on Labor Day, sitting outside on the comfortable patio. LaSalette has a very good, although small, lunch menu. We had three different dishes and all were excellent. One of our favorites was the scallops, which was cooked perfectly and quite tasty. I also had the Portuguese style Paella, which was excellent. We also drank several excellent wines from the wine list. Our server was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. This is an excellent restaurant.
Great ambiance, good food, and delicious drinks. Definitely recommend the scallop appetizer!
Over priced for the food. We tried a lot of dishes. Only sea-bass and scallops are good. But over priced for the food quality and service.
We have been here a couple of times now and every time have enjoyed our lunches! Would definitely recommend the octupus! There were four of us and we all enjoyed our dishes!
We always enjoy the food at La Salette. The quality is excellent and the menu original. The grilled sardines are a must!
A warning for those that do not eat pork though, dishes that you wouldn't expect to contain pork do, and it's not always identified on the menu. Fortunately our guest who does not eat pork for religious reasons noticed before eating her beef short ribs dish! A bit of a black mark for restaurant management.
The server Kevin was extremely kind and accommodating. The best thing was the cod cakes. Soooo good. And the scallops and pork belly were both cooked to perfection. Would definitely go there again for the next date night!
We chose La Salette for our anniversary dinner, and loved the food and service.
Great venue / location for outdoor dining.
The food was amazing. Service excellent and waitress was so knowledgeable about the menu. I would definitely go again and recommend to others
The best Portuguese restaurant around!!! I love the bacalau, so yummy!! 👍❤️
Wonderful menu with great choices, for non-meat eaters as well as those who eat meat. The food was excellent, and portions generous. Service was attentive but not overbearing. We love being able to bring our little, well behaved dog. It is a little pricey, but normal for Sonoma restaurants. Quite a treat!
