We reserved this restaurant through Open Table but it is no longer open!
It's CLOSED!!! I arrived with friends and found the restaurant closed. What a hassle to find another Italian restaurant without a reservation.
Open Table is not reliable!
The food was awesome. The mussels were so fresh that you could taste the sea water which made it so delectable. The shrimp scampi was also awesome. The shrimp held its place against the pasta and the sauce. The drinks are also wonderful. This place is an intimate yet social environment. Excellent for date nights. I would definitely go again.
The food was very good, albeit a bit overpriced... service is great... friendly atmosphere... no rushing you out... clean and beautiful music... have been going to this restaurant for years now, always had excellent food...
Lasagna Restaurant is a great, authentic "local" jewel. It is a small restaurant, so the noise level is low. The service is excellent and the pasta dishes are hard to beat. It is also modestly priced for NYC Italian dining. The garlic bread preceding the meal is wonderful. If you don't see exactly what you want on the menu, they are open to making it specifically for you! Don't want to send too many folks to this favorite of mine, but I only visit NY about 4 times a year, so I guess I will share it!
It was good
I found the food quite ordinary though the house salad dressing was good - very garlicky.
Always good . Local, friendly, reliable. Not a bad price too.
I made a reservation online and made a special request for the restaurant to acknowledge my friend's birthday which they never did. I was pretty bummed out by that even after having really good service. The portions for the lasagna were great but the salads were very small for the prices. Will come back here for the heartier food options.
This is one of my favorite places in the city to eat. Their lasagna is always on point and their garlic bread is very good. Service though has been consistently exceptional, which is rare to see in a NYC restaurant.
We love this place. Eat here regularly. Love the food. Good reliable.
The welcome is always warm and the servers are caring.
Back again with family and friends after a few years. Our group of 6 was well attended to. All of our party either ordered specials or pasta... all were well prepared and presented. Nothing fancy about this place... just a nice neighborhood spot with good food a reasonable prices for NYC.
Great service, good food, nice atmosphere and people.
I used to live across the street and they have always had some of the best lasagna my wife and I have ever had. We went back as we were craving some of their lasagna, but were a bit disappointed that the quality had seemingly fallen off quite substantially. It was still pretty good, and we will give them another chance before deciding whether or not visiting Lasagna is worth the extra cab fare down the line, but we were disappointed that it was not of the quality it previously had been. Also, they marked us down as a no show for our reservation and I had to work with OpenTable to get credit for our dinner.
food was great, service was prompt and attentive. all the food came in quickly and arrived piping hot.
Very good lasagna entrees but prices out of line. Especially the appetizers were priced high for a neighborhood spot. Fried calamari appetizer for $15 was a pass.
I went to the Lasagna restaurant downtown which was phenomenal and thought the midtown one would be just like it. To our surprise, the food was not comparable: the pasta was just okay, and the gnocchi was hard. Despite the food, the service was really great and the waitress offered us dessert on the house.
I've been to Lasagna many times. I am never disappointed. The food is good. The service is good. Portion size is very good. I took 1/2 home to enjoy a second day.
The overall ambiance was nice. However, the food was definitely sub-par, especially for the value. The best part of the meal was the free garlic bread. The pasta was not fresh and the vegetables were overdone. Mushy asparagus is not good. Great concept, poor follow through. Would not recommend.
As always, great food and great environment!! Definitely recommend the lasagnas.
The service was fantastic and the food was divine. Would definitely recommend this place.
This was a last minute lunch outing. The overall experience wasn't bad, however they did not offer any lunch specials. The prices were high for a pasta dish that wasn't even a full portion. The grilled chicken over arugula was not worth the price. They could have added more arugula to the plate. Lastly, The corner table against the dirty wall had a musty smell.
Great variety of choices of food and affordable wines. Garlic bread is a nice bonus. Love the Tartufo for desert!
I arrived early to meet a friend and the place was empty. I asked for a particular table (I like quiet dining so I can hear my friends talk) and was accommodated. I asked for wine and received it right away.
My friend was late but as soon as she arrived, the good service kicked in. We were served our entrees early and they were piping hot. I was disappointed with the Caesar salad with chicken. I have a feeling it was appetizer size rather than entrée. Anyway, it was small, hardly any salad but the chicken was moist and tasty. I asked for the dressing on the side but got it in the salad. I was too tired to argue.
My friend, however, loved her eggplant lasagna (gluten-free). She ate the whole thing and was surprised that she had been that hungry. She said the dish was great.
The coffee I had was dreadful but her espresso was good.
So, all in all, it was a positive experience. We will go back and recommend.
Had the 4 cheese lasagna and it was delicious. The garlic bread was a standout too. We ordered from the lunch special menu--great food at a reasonable price.
Service was excellent Waiter was very attentive without being overbearing
Completely dead however my friend and I saw the lunch menu online and when we sat, I asked to see the lunch menu and the manager said it's only mon-wed. Seriously? If we choose to leave you will have no costumers. I'm all for following the rules but come on. We were the only ones there! Food was lacking and having to pay fully price dint help.
The lasagna was really good, had bruschetta and calamari as an appetizer, the tomatoes weren't fresh!
The waiter wasn't friendly at all, never smiled, never told us his name.
Nice neighborhood cozy find. Prices are moderate and all lasagna dishes were very good. They are served piping hot in a casserole dish. Also, the spaghetti carbonara was creamy and tasty. Just a note to check bill because our tip was included (for a party of 5) and they didn't tell us.
The food is delicious. Only disappointment was that they ran out of lobster lasagna.
Lasagna was overpriced for what it was. Husband asked for his lasagna with mozzarella cheese instead of ricotta and received no cheese at all (except on top). Service was mediocre.
Lasagna with sausage and onion was very good. Linguine carbonara also very food. Both the lasagna and linguine sauces were excellent. The fresh mozzarella and roasted pepper appetizer was very good. Service was impeccable. Tough to rate the ambiance as it was a quiet sunday night.
Food was ok, service was good and its a cute little place. You would just think a place that was called Lasagna would have lasagna that would knock your socks off. NOT SO MUCH. I was looking forward to having great lasagna in NYC on our trip but was disappointed by there attempt.
I live Across the street and I really want this place to be good but it's not. The service is ok, but the hostess doesn't speak English so that makes it hard. The drinks are horrible and the food is worse. The linguine with clam sauce was flavorless and the vodka sauce tasted like meat sauce. The night was warm so they open the window doors but it is next to a busy bus stop so all night we heard the buses stop there and idle which was super unpleasant. The food is not good and too expensive. Go somewhere else
Nice neighborhood spot. Food was well prepared and reasonably priced. A bit crowded and a little noisy at times, but overall good experience. Would return.
Service was very prompt, and food was nice, freshly cooked and enjoyable. Great options, such as whole-wheat pasta, gluten free options, etc.! Because it was not very busy in the restaurant, the staff were constantly over asking were we ok, & when one party was finished they swiped the plate away despite the other party member still eating which we did not like very much. Quickly over to refill glasses also which was friendly, but also a bit too much to have staff at the table constantly, but was nicer than being forgotten about. We thought the ambiance was really nice and relaxing, and food was also a good price. Enjoyable experience overall.
Excellent dinner. Great lasagna and pastas in general.
Service was sketchy although the girl was very nice. Not many people in the restaurant which should have been our first clue that the food wouldn't be up to par. The lasagna tasted like a Stouffers Frozen dinner. Would never recommend or go back.
Relaxed, reasonably priced and portioned and really decent lasagna. Not a lot else of interest or attraction, but if you need a good zag fix on a cool evening this is a great spot.
