About Las Tablas Colombian Steak House
Originally founded over twenty years ago, Las Tablas is Chicago's premier Colombian restaurant. Our versatile and award-winning menu has something for all tastes, and our homemade sangria and other Latin cocktails are sure to delight your palate. Our signature house dish is the 'entraña' skirt steak, and was named 'Best Skirt Steak in the U.S.' by national food program 'America's Best Bites'. Try it alone or pair it with any number of choices including grilled chicken breast, grilled tiger shrimp, grilled pork loin, or several other choices. If you're feeling more adventurous and hungry, try our version of Colombia's national dish, the Bandeja Paisa (see photos). And for those not feeling so carnivorous, we also offer vegetarian options. We look forward to serving you, and showing you why Las Tablas is still Chicago's first choice for Colombian cuisine after more than two decades. Bienvenidos!

Las Tablas Colombian Steak House Ratings and Reviews
Food and drinks were delicious, as usual. Our waiter was also extremely accommodating. Having to wait more than 30 minutes for our reservation, and having to do the hostess' job in finding us a table was not good though. I may continue to eat here because I love it so much, but I'm afraid that our guests won't be returning due to the extremely long delay and lack of action.
This was my second visit to Las Tablas, the food and service were even better than the first time. Their signature Margarita was fantastic and my grilled shrimp were done perfectly. I also really enjoyed the dipping sauces provided for the table. Well done, Las Tablas!
When our party arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before our reservation time, they were not ready to seat us. The two hostesses barely said three words to me and did not keep me updated during our 15 minute wait past our reservation time. We finally got seated in an awkward table behind the hostess station. One of our group is vegan and asked for the vegetarian/vegan menu (which is boasted as “award winning” on the regular menu) but the waitress just said sorry we don’t have that yet. Not sure how a menu can be award winning if it doesn’t exist. There weren’t very many vegan options on the regular menu, either. Overall, the food was good enough to give this place another try, but I really hope the service is better next time.
We, a table of 4, ordered the "everything" dish for about $60. It had enough for all of us, but would say that the skirt steak was the star, the seafood was pretty good, the chorizo very good, the plantains, potatoes and roots OK and the chicken and pork both over-cooked (which may be ok with some people...) The wine was our own and good value given the corkage on weekdays. The wait staff very friendly and helpful. We all had a great time at a very reasonable cost.
Made reservations over a week in advance for a large group. They called to confirm 2 hours prior. At the time of the event the table was not available. We had to wait another hour before being seated... other then that annoyance the food was good and everyone had a good time celebrating my husbands birthday.
Fantastic! Easy off street parking. Quick check . Nice table. Busy but very quick service! Fantastic pineapple martini! Incredible Guacamole! The skirt teak is a must! Great recommendation from out waiter! And... a discount because we were going to a show at the Athenaeum Theatre 500 feet away! Fantastic!!
I chose Las Tablas because I am vegetarian, but my friends are not. When I searched for vegetarian friendly restaurants in that area, to my surprise Las Tablas Steakhouse was listed. It boasted online that they were listed a Top 10 Vegetarian Latin restaurant and that they has an entire separate vegetarian menu. When we got to the table and menus were handed out I opened it and 2 vegetarian items were listed, however below them it said "Ask your server for our award winning vegetarian menu" So I asked and was told. We don't have one, you can choose from this menu. I was super disappointed. There was not even an apology for the false advertising. My friends enjoyed their steaks, but my Vegetarian Paella was lack luster. Not much flavor . Again, disappointed. I had really been looking forward to the experience and was happy to find a place where my non-veg friends and I could enjoy a great meal together. I'm usually not one to post negative reviews, but I feel that if you advertise something you should deliver on that. Or, at the very least apologize for the misinformation.
Las Tablas has a great variety of Columbian inspired dishes. The menu is focused on proteins and the kitchen delivers. Chicken, pork, beef, fish were all cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Also, don't forget the arepas, they are little corn paties of heaven. All this for a great price too. One of the best deals I've found in the city.
We like the atmosphere here and excellent grilled skirt steak and charred shrimp! The coconut flan was also very tasty! We ordered rice and beans- not great and not necessary since steak came with yucca, potato and plantain. Service was friendly could be a little more attentive and the music was a tad loud for my taste...we will be back!
We came before a show at the Athenium and it wasn't too crowded at a 6pm on Saturday, which was good because we were running a little late from huge crowds. The service unobtrusive but pleasant, we had the combination platters which were generous and filling (note: you don't need the extras or appetizers, it's a lot of food on the plate). I thought it was nicely done, simple meats and starches with a few spicy/tangy sauces to mix in as you wish. The berry cocktails blended fresh fruit drink with vodka and were so refreshing! A great neighborhood restaurant, good before the theater.
Good food, good ambiance....TERRIBLE service. Asked to speak with a manager as we were walking out and were told they were not available. If we ever recommend to friends we would share servers name to ensure they don't receive same terrible service. Did Observe great servers handling tables around us.
The food was delicious overall (with the exception of some slightly over-cooked shrimp.) The service however, was not good. We had a reservation for 7 and were lead to a table with six seats. After we finally flagged someone down to ask for a chair, it seemed like we were inconveniencing them and there was no apology for the mix up. Our first order of drinks took a very long time to arrive. While we were still waiting for our drinks, the waiter told us that if we didn't order food soon, a party of 15 might got get their order in before us and then the wait would be an hour and a half for our dinner. So we rushed to figure out what we wanted. We never saw a large party come in after that, and when we asked our waiter what happened to that party at the end of the night, he just said "Oh, they already left." Every time food or drinks came out items were placed in front of the wrong person and we were left to sort out what was what (after we'd already accidentally sampled our friends' orders.) At one point we had to waive to try to get out waiter's attention for a long time while he stood chatting with another staff member watching videos on his phone. Perhaps the worst part, however was the fact that there was little or no air conditioning on a hot summer night. Our entire party was drenched in sweat by the time we left. It made it hard to enjoy the hot food. Again, the food was delicious and the decor, lighting and music were great, so I really wanted to like this place. If they could improve on the service/AC issues I would love to give them another shot.
