Las Palomas offers private and a semi-private rooms for special occasions, group meetings, and other gatherings of 10 to 40 people. We love to host events in our restaurant, where we can assure that everything from the food to the lighting and silverware is perfect.View Private Dining Details
Called them to let them know we would be 10 mins late due to traffic, receptionist told me they would not hold our table of 6 any longer than 10 mins past our reservation time. Absolutely not! When we arrived 6 mins past our time, there were 8 open tables and they remained open the entire night. The restaurant is in a strip mall, food just OK, nothing special. Poor customer service and will not return! They advertise guacamole made table side, manager said they haven't done that in years. I ordered a large for the table and a very small bowl was delivered, enough for 2 people.
Great service. The food was on point! We were the last table and they treated us like gold! I love Las palomas. The achiote drum was so tasty. The best salad was wonderful with different textures finished off the night with chocolate heavenly dense cake!
Food was all just okay. Not bad but not good.
with my parents and the band was a little loud for conversation
Waiter was very helpful and when we wanted to stay to listen to music, he found us a place at the bar.
Great neighborhood gem. We thoroughly enjoy the live music every Thursday and Saturday evenings!
For over 30 years I have enjoyed the delicious food and drinks at Los Paloma’s. It is always wonderful. The food always excellent.
I had not visited Las Palomas in awhile, not by design. I like the fact that the restaurant "stays the same." Fine by me! The magic is on the plates. An appetizer Tostada Trio, featuring ceviche, chicken mole, and pork pibil ... a knock out! The chicken mole and pork pibil stack up against anybody in town, all for a few bucks!
Next ... tortilla soup ... which I order almost every where I dine, if its on the menu. I love to see all the different soups that show up at the table. No two tortilla soups in Austin are the same. Every place, every chef, has his or her "grandma's recipe" ... At Las Palomas, the tortilla soup is a fairly thick tomato-based creation, almost like a bisque. Super fresh tomatoes, a few spices, a sprinkle of cotija cheese ... comfort on a cold night in Austin!
The actual meal was the seafood veracruzana, another Mexican creation I try every where. Fresh tomatoes, olives, capers, onions ... and broiled fish. Awesomeness!!! If I have any negative comment about the Las Palomas experience, it was the selection of fish available for the veracruzana dish. The options were salmon (not the right fish for this dish at all) and tilapia. Hear me out ... that's NOT a knock against Las Palomas. Most restaurants in Austin have tilapia, and not much else, and the Gulf of Mexico is only a couple of hours away. :-(
One final thought, and special mention of my waitress, Mandy. If it wasn't her actual first night, it may have been her second. A wonderful young lady, personable, smiling, laughing, I explained some of the dishes on the menu to her! LOL Mandy naturally understands the "attentive, but not hovering" style. Word to Las Palomas ... you don't need to hire any more folks to work the dining room, just clone Mandy!
We love Laa Palomas. The food is always consistently delicious. Upon arrival we expanded our group from 5 to 10 people and the folks did not skip a beat. Great service and attention.
Las Palomas is a great family owned neighborhood GEM. Friends and I enjoy meeting there on Thursday and Saturday evenings for dinner and the awesome LIVE MUSIC of the band called 7EVEN. The food is consistently good and the band keeps the music at a volume that’s good for dinner conversation. I especially enjoy the Ceviche Tostadas, yummy!! We’ll definitely be back again 😊
We had a reservation and were seated on time. The shrimp fajitas with fried onions and red peppers were excellent as was the flan. The whole meal was surprisingly moderately priced and we loved the ambiance and listening to the live jazz in the next dining area.
We've been eating at Las Palomas since it opened decades ago. It's always good. You can't beat the Las Palomas Combination Plate for a fabulous diverse collection of flavors. I get it every time and it's great!
Chose it due to reviews of being quiet, but it was much noisier than I had expected
A neighborhood favorite. Foods from Mexican Interior. Wide variety of choices. Excellent service.
Some of the best mole in Austin and always great food.
I have been coming to Las Palomas for over 20 years. The restaurant consistently provides great, attentive service, excellent food and a great value.
Really good interior Mexican food! Wish there was one up North, but it's worth the drive!!
Recommended to me by a foodie colleague years ago, never disappointed with your delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. Really enjoyed the Ginger Kiss cocktail too
Loved the band - thought it would be too noisy but the music was great and at a level we could enjoy band and our conversation. All the food is always outstanding! Love your anything with Limon and capers! Waitress was very accommodating when I asked to move out table thinking the band would be noisy...wrong!
Excellent . On Saturdays there is an excellent Band , great music
Every time we are in Austin we try to go to Las Palomas
Normally one of my husband and I love to come here. We have celebrated many special occasions here. And while the food was good, the service was horrible and they weren't even that crowded. My salmon salad was prepared wrong and they didn't bring my meal until all the other people in our party were finished. They didn't even comp the meal. Hopefully the service will get better.
Great little Mexican restaurant. The mejor margarita was spicy and delicious. Great mole sauce. Great value for a casual evening.
We really enjoyed Las Palomas! Not only was the food delicious, the "Skinny Margarita " was great! The best part for me was the Jazz quartet that played at a perfect loudness level! We enjoyed it so much we ordered dessert so we could stay longer!
Great restaurant and really enjoyed the fish tacos and sangria! The jazz band was wonderful entertainment for a great date night out with my husband. Very friendly staff also!
Very nice place! Very friendly staff, food is great, place is very nice. I would definitely recommend this place and I will definitely go back. They have nice patio too.
Wonderful restaurant, service was impeccable
Everything was fine--excellent food, service and ambience-Las Palomas has been a favorite place for 20 years.
The greatest problem was that our table was very small for the food/plates that 4 people ordered.
Food was excellent as usual and the service was great. We also enjoyed the music in the bar which did not overwhelm conversation but provided great atmosphere.
We were looking for a different Tex-Mex location than normal and tried this place. It was merely alright. It wasn't innovative or different than what it seems like every other similar restaurant would have (including drinks). Service was ok, but we got stuck at a small table between two doors so it wasn't a great location to try and have a conversation with someone.
The music on Thursday night was great. Quite enough to have a conversation but very enjoyable. Food and service were good.
This was really awesome. The food was great the drinks were great the jazz band was great the service was great the atmosphere was great. What a find!! The noise level I put on high because there's a jazz band sometimes. But I mean you can still talk it's not too loud. And that's just in the main dining room the other parts of it it's quiet enough like it's not a big deal.
I love this restaurant. I have lived in Westlake since 1992. Having grown up in Laredo Texas and married to a girl whose mother was from Mexico City this restaurant truly has a different and truer version of Mexican food. Their mole sauce spectacular, Chile Riano's are incredibly tasty, Samon beat salad is always a great lunch. Enjoy and do yourself a favor and check Las Palmas out
Tables too close together. Could not hear music over noise level. Chairs need cushions. Service execellent and food good.
We were there for monthers day and it was great. We sat outside in a beautiful patio! We had guacamole, which one fresh and delicious. I had red snapper in lemon, butter sauce and my husband enjoyed shredded pork dish. Everything was delicious. We finished off with mango mouse. Very good experience
Amazing food! Friendly people! We've found that's a combination that is really hard to beat!
Very good Mexican food and love the Jazz band on Thursday night.
I felt bad for coming in right before closing but they didn't rush me and my friend because of that. They were very pleasant and it helped us enjoy our food!
