Las Brisas Ratings and Reviews
Terrible experience. The restaurant was less than half full and they parked us (81 year old mother and 60 YO son, wife...) next to a party of 15 or so that were so loud we couldn't converse. The wait staff was so slow that we were wondering if they took breaks all the time. The ceviche was terrible and the salads were very overpriced for what was presented. After the check was delivered it took 20 minutes to find the waiter to just pay ad then it took another 10 to return. To cap it off my wife had made some hot-sauce for my brother out of peppers that he grew and we forgot it at the table. We literally turned around before we went out the front door. When asked the bus boy did run to the back but he said too late it went into the compactor, not even an oops we're sorry, much less thinking maybe we should take this up front in case this unique jar of hot-sauce may have value to those people. All in all a pretty poorly run restaurant with poor food. Absolutely gorgeous venue. I recommend going here to walk, just don't go inside, nothing worthwhile.
We had an incredible meal here on my birthday last week. We found Las Brisas via Open Table, and it did not disappoint. Nydia was our server and she was so kind, friendly and helpful. She made my birthday very special with her warmth, and with the amazing dessert she brought out for us to eat in celebration after our delicious meal. The view, the smell and the sight of the Pacific Ocean below us didn't hurt matters at all either. Highly recommend!
Fantastic spot! Found this place several years ago. I live in KY, so it’s literally a trip across the country to eat here. But, I have turned several business associates onto the spot and it’s always the first place we go. Filet Mignon and Bacon Tacos are worth the trip.
We went to Las Brisas to celebrate my husband's birthday, which I indicated on the reservation.
First, I think if this is a first experience, go during the day and sit on the patio. Inside the tables were so close you couldn't get up without bumping into something. The restaurant was full, so service was good, a little slow as one would expect. My lobster linguine was terrible. The lobster was tough and stringy; the whole dish was a big gooey mess. My husband was very satisfied with his pork chop. Just prior to our dinner arriving, a table very near to us was seated, apparently someone important. At least 6 staff came to their table, including both maitre des and the chef. At that point, all was dropped to take care of that table. This is our 3rd visit - won't go back again. PS No recognition of my husband's birthday.
We have dined there for Years but this last time was extremely disappointing. The menu has been changed completely and We had great difficulty in selecting an entree. The only offering We all agreed on was the dessert of fruit in a pastry basket which was outstanding. When the only item is dessert then We know We are in trouble.Service was excellent and the noise level acceptable. We will not be returning.
Las Brisas is in a beautiful location in Laguna Beach and our group of six had an inside window table so that we were able to enjoy the spectacular views of the Laguna Beach coastline. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Two in our group had the pick three item "tasting" plates. The servings were very small. I enjoyed my taco salad with shrimp. I thought the food and beverage prices were a little pricey. The wait staff was very attentive.
It was my father's 90th birthday so I was counting on great service, but as there were a few other, larger birthday parties that night at Las Brisas, our small gathering in the side room was ignored for the most part. I ordered a margarita that took 20 minutes, and our food didn't arrive until one hour after our arrival. Bus boy was great and retrieved our server a few times, but overall we were very disappointed and would likely not return for a special occasion such as this. Food was excellent, but prices were outrageous. Been coming here for years but this was likely the last time.
We had a very memorable evening celebrating our sons surprise engagement . The food and service from the two Fernando's was great ! The only thing missing was the surprise dessert they said they would do when I booked the reservations. Overall , a very special evening with amazing views. Lori H
For us, it was all about the view. The restaurant was very busy with an extremely large group. As a result, once that large group flooded the restaurant, it was very loud and noisy and congested. Before that flood, it was lovely. The food was okay. Nothing to write home about.
Nice restaurant on the water overlooking Laguna Beach. The Lobster Carbonara was excellent and the enchiladas were good as well. The staff is very attentive. We’ve been here many times to also have drinks on the patio and enjoy a tapas menu not served in the main restaurant.
Superb ambiance and views of Laguna Beach Bay & Pacific! Try to get there around Sunset to enjoy both daytime ocean view and evening lights of the small art-oriented village and community. Indoor dining has almost 180o views and Patio has heat lamps when needed. Food was excellent, wine selection good and service professional and attentive. Only drawback may be the higher price tag - but depending on your reason for coming - you'll probably get what you pay for! If you've never been here, come for a drink and stay for great food! (Valet parking in case you have trouble walking up the short hill from the Village.)
I made a reservation and was given a great table but didn’t know until I arrived that I would be forced into a price-fix menu unless we moved outside. The patio menu was terribly limited. I asked if I could order huevos rancheros and was told, no.
I felt hog-tied.
I felt punished instead of valued.
The Deck is a much better value and experience.
Downhill.... sadly that is the direction Las Brisas has gone. It has traditionally been our go-to place in Laguna Beach. After a refurbishment/remodel, inexplicably the white table cloth service is gone... it seems that service is as well. The reception was first-class, but table service went down from there. Water was prompt. Drink orders were taken late and delivered late. No bread served (other tables of course had bread). "...authentic cuisine of the Mexican Riviera and is filled with recipes discovered along the 3000 miles of Mexico's coast"? Hardly... a changed menu with mostly typical meat/seafood glammed with a tomatillo, etc. The calamari was cold (but the flavor of calamari and chipotle aioli was fine). Menu not as A question of the waiter "Would you recommend the X or the Y" resulted in the waiter polling each of us as to our considerations and declaring "I'll bring you X, you Y and you Z". Stunning. Waiter missing in action. Then, instead of Shrimp Tampiqueños, Surf and Turf Enchiladas arrived with the other two entrees. Oops... no offer of keeping the other mains warm.. 2 of us ate; the third ate alone once the Shrimp arrived. Waiter again missing in action. No offer of dessert. No offer of coffee. The waiter? Talking in the corner. We had to stop another waiter to have a bill generated and pay for our meal and parking (valet is $10, added to the bill inside). We handed over a credit card. The bill came back; the credit card didn't... we had to ask for it. An appropriate ending to the sequence of service. Questionable whether we'll bring others here again.
Terrible Thanksgiving meal... four entres served cold. Very expensive... $$$$$ way out of line.
Our waiter was the only saving grace. They are newly renovated, and the facility is beautiful... but the food, not so good. Our bill was over $300 for four people... our worst choice for Thanksgiving ever👎
Las Brisas has the best ocean view on the Coast and our Service was A+++. It was Thanksgiving and a special menu of 4 choices. My husbands rib eye streak, although cooked as requested, was tough and flavorless . My Scallops were good, but both our entrees had nothing much to go with it. Just a smear of something. No bread. The appetizer was delish. Hubby's salad was great, My carrot soup tasted and looked like baby food. The desserts were terrible. Never had apple tart that was to hard to cut. Pumpkin pie was terrible. but the ice cream that came with it was great. Yes we'll go back because of that view. C'mom chef, you can do better
Excellent location to enjoy a wonderful meal. View is absolutely fantastic. Service was excellent as well. A bit pricey, but worth it. They have invested in some nice updates over the years and the facility looks much nicer than I remember from years ago. We chose inside but outside seemed to be a wonderful place to enjoy a good time as well.
