Larsen's Grill Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten here four times. The last three times the noise level in the bar was beyond irritating it was obnoxious. So loud you can’t carry on a conversation at your table. This last visit there was some seriously loud swearing going on. No one from Larsen’s said or did anything. While I understand the need to make money someone needs to step up and patrol this area. My advice to anyone who wants to eat here: go early and leave early before the loudmouth drinkers consumebtoo many drinks.
We have made Larsens Steakhouse a traditional date night for our anniversary every year. While the noise level is high, you know everyone else is having as good a time as you are! The cocktails before dinner were exceptionally good and the filets we had were delicious as always! A cup of decaf and a peach cobbler to split finished off our meal. We were very happy with our evening and will be back again next year!
Just love going out to Larsen's for a meal. The ambience, service and food are outstanding. I always get the shrimp cocktail appetizer as it's phenomenal in addition to the lobster tail (which is only $30 with a side item) which I absolutely love. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Horrible food. Good service. Steak so tough it was almost inedible. 1/2 of the Asparagus beyond over cooked. Buratta and Tomato salad- horrible presentation. My guests chicken was very dry.
Never going back. Grossly overpriced for the quality of food
We started with our favorite Martini made by the best bartender, Mandy! For appetizer I had a caprese salad and my husband had the tuna tartare. The salad was very cold, refreshing and tasty with swirls of balsamic and pesto. The tuna tartare was delicious. For the main course I had the Chardonnay soaked cedar plank salmon and requested it be well done. It was was served as requested, nicely seasoned and with a lobster cream sauce and grilled asparagus. My husband had roasted chicken served with wild rice and glazed carrots. It was excellent. I had a glass of Franciscan Chardonnay with my entree. We went all out and had dessert! A slice of key lime pie and vanilla ice cream served with a side of hot fudge. They hit the spot!! A most satisfying meal with great service by Kate!
Been here once before, at closing time, quite a different place. This visit, very busy, large open room with lots of flat walls, so noise level was high.
Our server was good, probably would have been great with two less tables.
Food was very good and came quickly.
Will go again. Definitely not somewhere to go in search of quiet conversation.
We celebrated our friend's 40th wedding anniversary. We also were joined by our friend's elderly mom. We did not tell them it was an anniversary celebration. The waitress overheard us talking and brought us a complimentary special dessert. They also split a plate for the mom and it was lovely.
All the food was very good. Meat was tender and cooked perfectly. It was a tad expensive . Discount cards from Costco helped.
We were soo happy with our choice of Larsons Simi Vly.
Before booking reservation I researched all the reviews I could. I also reviewed the menu and was interested to see how our local Larsons steak house would measure up.
First thing I appreciate learning from a review that it would be wise to go to Costco and purchase at least one gift card. In doing so I saved 20.00 in every 100.00 I spent. That's a great savings. We ended up saving 60.00 by doing so. Interested?
We made reservations for a Tuesday evening for a b-day. Started in the bar with a cocktail. Bread was offered but we saved our appetites. We ordered an app once we were seated at a super good table.
We recommend ALL of our choices).
Our app were the raw ousters.
I'm not much of a raw oyster person but I will always order theses again. We enjoyed the Wedge salad. It included egg ,onion and plenty of there blue cheese dressing. Unusually savory. I loved it and again I'm pretty picky. For our main courses we chose the "aged filret ,med rare " and the " aged ribeye ,also med rare . I highly recommend ordering the aged beef. Also I liked the fact that each steak came with a side dish that is included in the price. Seriously the best felet I've ever had ! I highly recommend the aged beef selection . Worth it.! The cuts were so big we took home half of each and enjoyed left over night like no other. And as to honor my birthday man they surprised us with a quiet birthday dessert. ( our privacy means a lot to us ,so quiet was perfect). The vanilla lb. cake is just fantastic. I'm a professional baker so I know wonderful when I tast it.
Btw , to be clear , the reviews I read were off base. I found the restaurant to be under crowded , quiet and we received awesome service from Lisa and her helper. The value of the evening was super good. Buying those gift cards made it a great deal for sure.
I'm happy my Simi Vly has this Larson steak house available. We're lucky! Check it out!
Restaurant is good for atmosphere, food and drinks/ wine. Our server, however, was another story. This is the second time we've had her and were equally disappointed both times. She was in such a hurry that we didn't even have time to make requests each time she flew by the table. I took time to observe other servers thinking that perhaps the restaurant was just very busy but that wasn't the case. Other servers we stopping by their tables and obviously conversing and laughing with their customers. Instead of placing our drink napkins on the table, she just sort of "flung" them towards each person. We were never really able to bond with her both times. She was just in too much of a hurry.
Having experienced her two times now, is enoug to make us not want to return. We'll find a new place to celebrate our special occasions.
A very nice restaurant with excellent food. It is on the pricey side however you would have to expect that for the quality. Great for special occasions ...... just note they do not sing HB to you. They did present a plate that had HB written in chocolate with ice cream and a delicious butter cake. Highly recommend for those who are not budget conscious.
Disappointed with the meals. Crab cakes were too salty. Filet mignon was over cooked. Sent it back and the new order was too rare. Kurobota pork chop was tough!
Don't know what is going on in their kitchen, but this is the second bad experience in a row. We love Larsen's, but think we'll give it a break for now.
Always a good experience. I could understand if some people say it tends to be a little loud inside. Just know what you are getting. It's louder because there is so many happy people enjoying themselves. Want a quiet dinner tip ? Sit outside. 😊
The delicious (although quite pricey) food served by wonderful, friendly staff was unfortunately overshadowed by the incredibly loud din of other diners. I felt like I was in a high school cafeteria on pizza day and a food fight is about to occur! The acoustics in this restaurant are appalling. You can hear EVERYONE in the room, but you can't hear yourself think, and you can't have a decent dinner conversation! We were here for a romantic anniversary dinner, not a day at the football stadium. The dining booths are set up to encircle a large open area that accommodates LARGE parties. There were so many tables crammed into that space, that those parties were back to back. I do believe their chairs were touching. A raised bar area is on the south side of the booth area, so those sounds join into the loud and murky conversation soup. This restaurant needs a larger space, and some inspired redesigning with privacy and ambience in mind.
We love coming to Larsen's Grill. We are there at least once every month. We were disappointed with one if the meals. My husband ordered the prime fillet of beef and what he got certainly was NOT.
The manager was very accommodating and did not charge us for it. That was really a nice gesture.
The crab cakes are outstanding.
I have been to this location twice. It can get quite noisy the more it fills up. This time we arrived early and noise was not a problem. The server, Hannah, was outstanding in every regards. Smart, nice, on the ball, attentive but not intrusive. The food was great. The salmon on the cedar plank was to die for.
This has become our special "go-to" place when we want to move outside our typical 5 mile bubble. Great (somewhat expensive) food! The service is (as always) EXCELLENT! Everything about this place is something the establishment should be proud of (and judging from the crowd at 7:30PM on a Saturday...everyone else likes this place too!
Our Filet Mignon was ordered medium rare and it arrived medium, overcooked and dry.
The Server offered to replace the steak; instead I ordered the Potk Chop, medium rare. It arrived with a raw, cold center and was also sent back.
I declined ordering another entree.
We were given a gift card not realizing how pricey the restaurant was. This is not a restaurant that I would be able to afford on a weekly schedule. The food was excellent. We asked for bread and was told that it wasn't out of the oven yet. When it arrived it appeared that it had been microwaved. The bottom of the rolls were hard as a rock.
As I mentioned it would a nice place every other month or so. I am retired so not a place to go on a weekly basis
Larsens's rarely disappoints and this was no exception. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. My husband and I each ordered medium rare prime rib and it was very good. My husband ordered the 16 oz and I got the 12 oz and they almost looked the same size so I suggest the 12 oz to save some money. It comes with a side dish and we like to split them. We also had salads which were fresh with lots of ingredients.
The martinis are average and a bit pricy at $14 each!
We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought us a delicious complimentary plate of ice cream, fresh whipping cream and butter cake!
Tip: go to CostCo in Simi Valley and pick up 2 $50 vouchers for $80 . You save $20 and you are going to need it.
