Great service; fantastic downtown location; we went for the patio. Have been there several times and I always walk out the door thinking "mediocre food; poor value". I'm sure I will be back for the patio. I just need to remember to use the patio for a drink, appetizer and split opportunity. If not for the location and proximity to Klyde Warren Park, I don't think the restaurant would last more than 3 months.
We brought out of town guests to Lark's brunch during the chalk drawings change. They were enchanted with the concept (we love it, too) and loved the wait staff (everyone, absolutely everyone, in the place greeted us with toothy smiles and a good morning!). Food all around was wonderful and our waitress, in particular, was very accommodating as we requested substitutes and non-listed drinks.
My sisters and brother enjoyed our dinner Friday night. I live in Dallas but the other 5 were from out of town. They loved everything they ordered and appreciated the "normal" size portions. Sorry that I don't have our server's name, but my sister has the receipt. She was female and did a great job at checking on us and ensuring we were taken care of. I recommend "Lark" all the time for lunch, dinner and brunch! Thank you!
As always, Lark on the Park delivered! Went for brunch on 11/05, had the special--pancakes, sunnyside up egg, and bacon. Best part is that they split the meal with me and my daughter, equal portions for both! I also had the special mimosa, pineapple/blueberry, and it was excellent. The only thing I can recommend is to also offer belinni's.
For an 8:30 reservation, they were out of 2 of their signature dishes, which was disappointing considering how limited their selection is to begin with. The service was good, however we weren’t given the proper stemware for our $200 bottle of Burgundy, which was also disappointing. I won’t be back for another year or so, there are too many other great places to visit in Dallas that exceed our expectations regularly.
We've dined at Lark 6-8 times in the past several years. We typically are pretty happy with the food and like the location. There is one recurring problem with Lark which I simply do not understand....over and over food comes to the table at a lukewarm temperature. Perhaps plates stay under the heat lamp too long or maybe the plates are prepared far in advance?
Last night we ate with another couple and had a 7pm reservation. First problem encountered was the really poor wine list. Our waitress knew nothing about any wine and had no interest in finding anybody who could help. Then we ordered and the food arrived...lukewarm, as expected. My halibut was just weird looking and tasted old. In fact it looked like a small turkey breast on the plate. My husband ordered the lamb and it was barely warm and was rubbery.
For desert, we ordered the beignets, a new addition to the menu. They arrived hot (!!!) but were tiny and tough...as if they were made with a high gluten bread flour.
Between the terrible waitress and the below average food, I'd say that we are unlikely to ever visit Lark again.
Lark still does a decent business but I cannot imagine this continuing if the food and service don't improve. One bright note....the place has an excellent playlist and we always enjoy the interesting music. No thumping techno!!
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but this last visit was disappointing. The drinks were good and the cheese board was terrific, and that’s why I gave the food 3 stars. The entrees were worth 2 stars at best. My wife ordered the halibut which was bland and made her sick later on that evening. They were very nice about comping her entree, but I’m not sure we’ll be going back.
Stopped in on the way to a play. Food was excellent tasting but VERY small portions, I would have expected my $34.00 entree to be an appetizer by it's size. Service was pleasant but marginal. Ordered a martini and it was watered down, never experienced that before as it's hard to water down a drink that's 99% alcohol... they re-made the drinks, but didn't get them ti we were almost finished with dinner. Great location for people going to arts venues near by, but value and service just not there.
We went for the special beer and wine dinner. Three of us ordered from this menu and the other two with us ordered from the regular menu. We all left so happy and full of delicious food! Each course was perfectly paired with a unique (and tasty!) beer and wine. It was difficult to choose a favorite because everything was truly amazing! We ordered the mussels and crab fritters for additional appetizers and each was delicious! We very quickly made brunch reservations for next week and can't wait to go try that menu!!
This is my first time to this restaurant, also the last...... Booked standard table for two in Sunday afternoon at 3:15 pm. When we arrived we had been told the kitchen was closed until 3:30. If your kitchen is closed, why you took reservation????? Okay, that's fine, we returned the restaurant around 3:30 pm and checked in by the host. Then the funny thing was the server told us that they only have 4 options for us to choose!!!!! Really? 4 things to choose to eat!!!!! Will never go back!
Food was good but service and atmosphere was odd. Our mains came out with our appetizer and we were told that the reason was because there was a large party. When we walked out at 9:30 and despite there being quite a few diners in the restaurant, there were already chairs being stacked on tables. I would return because food was good but wouldn’t prioritize it due to strange atmosphere.
Good food in a great location.
Being downtown, valet parking was a great amenity.
We were a party of 4 for lunch. To start - We shared the fondito on the menu and it was excellent. We had different entrees - all very good ( 3 on the menu ( chicken, quail, grill cheese) and the special for the day halibut cakes).
Went for a pre-symphony dinner and enjoyed our meal so much that we just skipped the symphony altogether! Service was terrific but our meal was outstanding! My gf said it was her best meal in Dallas and we've gone to many fine restaurants! She had the steak frites which was unbelievable. Steak was tender and flavor was incredible, even the fries were perfection. I had the new to menu halibut which is a standout. We had to order the bottle of wine, Love & Squalor which was just fine, not great but complimented our meal. If you go for a pre-symphony or theater meal, add some time to enjoy a great meal. Kudos Lark on the Park!
Very disappointing. There was clearly a kitchen problem and the server was inattentive. After one hour, we asked for bread and got 4 slices for the 5 of us - comical. Some food was good, some was luckwarm. Fish portions were tiny for $30. We won’t go back for a while. Very small number of diners the night we were there.
The waiter was not friendly and even said she had been there all day and was tired. The food was mediocre, particularly the pheasant was fatty and not well seasoned. Halibut was better. For the price, the food and service should be much, much better. Disappointed.
Weekend dining is brunch or nothing. Hope you like eggs or a ridiculously expensive cold turkey sandwich or burger. Location is terrific and I like the chalkboard art very much. Valet parking (front brunch, served 10 - 3) is complimentary and very convenient. Drinks are expensive, though, and the food is meh.
We were seated quickly with reservation, but on a Saturday evening the restaurant was never more than half full. While there was an almost overbearing spotlight on our table, we noticed diners on the perimeter of the dining room was using the light from their phones to read the menu. The evening started with, while delightful, a waitress who was working the first night and couldn't recommend any drinks or food based on experience (she had not tasted either). The summer gazpacho had the consistency of liquid while the octopus salad was nice. There was four of us in our party celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. The two girls ordered steak, I ordered lamb chops and my husband ordered the quail. Three of the entrees were fine, but the lamb chops were too rare (almost raw) and were not seasoned at all. The menu indicated there were artichokes on the dish, but there was only one full bite worth. The server allowed our daughter to order the Vegan mousse even though she was unsure about what to order. The mousse was not good. The cookies and milk dessert was the best item on the dinner. The total for four with two drinks each with tip was in excess of $300 - way overpriced for the quality of the experience.
To start with, their bartender makes a great Manhattan. And I enjoy that while I'm looking at the latest chalk art renditions on the walls - a unique feature in Dallas.
As always, the food and service were great. I like so many things on the menu it is difficult to choose. Some of the offerings are one of a kind; you won't find anything else like it in Dallas.
And, it is so convenient for dinner before going to the Dallas Symphony. We walk across the park to the Meyerson, so we only have to park once.
