Train & Bus Service
I was excited to try this restaurant for first time after reading all the outstanding reviews. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met.
The place is beautiful, nicely decorated, great ambiance.
The service was very good.
However, the food was fine, nothing exceptional as other reviewers stated. The dessert was ok. Tried the beignets, as recommended by our waiter. The blueberry creme brûlée had no sugar crust on top. The consistency was a bit watery. The flavor was very odd. I’d suggest that they stick to traditional creme brûlée flavors.
It was an overall good experience; but without really good food, I won’t be rushing back there soon.
Excellent place to enjoy good food and the person/people you are dining with. Everything from the service to the food and more is tops here!
The front of the house was professional, impeccably dressed & welcoming which made me excited for our dining experience. The lady behind the bar came out to welcome us warmly with a smile and friendly casual conversation and to make sure we had been attended to. Into the dining room- pressed white cloths, waitresses impeccably dressed. Not a single word, greeting, inquiry from our waitress. We were given our menus and when she came to take our order she simply stood there with a pad & pen and waited for us to tell her what our selections were. Very cold and not what I’d expect. This restaurant is a BYOB so my husband brought a Growler which they appropriately and graciously kept cold for him. My sparking water and his beverage were not a priority and we waited for our glasses to be refilled several times. The food was just ok. I enjoyed my corn bisque with crab, though under seasoned (no salt) and my husband arronchini was way way too salty, he could only eat 2. My gluten free pasta was fine texture wise but the dish itself with the clams was very basic and needed something to give it any flavor. Hands down it needed salt, maybe a touch of lemon zest or a squeeze of a lemon. I had a few bites but didn’t eat most of it. Our waitress did let us know that “the way they did it there, we would have three courses” which seemed like a lot of food to me and I was pacing myself throughout the meal. I didn’t eat either of the first two dishes in their entirety one because they were underseasoned and two because I had another course coming. As she cleared our plates I almost felt as if she was offended that we hadn’t cleared our dishes. I had the filet for my entrée as did my husband. There seem to be no seasoning at all on the meat and mine was overcooked as I had asked for medium rare and it was served medium. Our waitress comes over to clear our plates and says “You gave up, huh?” We won’t be returning, sadly.
The service was awesome. From the moment that we walked in until the bill came. Everyone was so attentive without being smothering. Our appetizers were very good. Two at the table had the halibut and found it to be very dry (perhaps it was overcooked). The patrons that had the meat selections were very happy with theirs. Dessert was very good.
This was our first time dining at Larimar. We had a lovely dinner. There was a mixup with my order but it was handled professionally and with great care. The food was delicious.
High end, sophisticated Italian dining. Excellent, knowledgeable service. BYO.
This meal was a highlight of our rainy 3-day stay in Spring Lake. The food was excellent, platings were elegant and the service was very attentive (but not too much). We were allowed a long leisurely meal despite being the last diners of the evening. The decor was very pleasurable and it helped take our mind off the bad weather we had for our NJ shore visit
The food is always so good and displayed beautifully on the plate.
Second visit. As great as the first time. A jewel on Jersey shore.
The owner and his family make this a special place to dine in Spring Lake. The pasta and meats are excellent.
Larimar was excellent. The food was just SO good!!! My wife had the homemade gluten free pasta. It was like having regular pasta, not the typical cardboard gluten free pasta. If you are gluten free this is the place to have pasta. My meal was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding. The owner made the rounds to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. I just wish this restaurant was closer to where we live. We are from northern NJ. We would definitely be regulars if we were local.
We really like this restaurant. Only suggestion...menu remains the same. A few specials would be nice. Overall, lovely restaurant.
A BYO restaurant where The ambiance was lovely, service pampering, & food great!
My husband and I were very warmly greeted when we arrived and when I realized that we'd forgotten our wine at the hotel, they were exceedingly gracious about seating me right away and waiting while my husband ran back to get it. Service was equally attentive and personable throughout our meal. The main dining room is gorgeous, airy and elegant with comfortable banquettes and space between diners. There's a more casual bar area up front . There's a nice soundtrack playing and it's not unnaturally quiet, but you can carry on a conversation easily. But the food is the best part. In our opinion, this is far and away the best restaurant in town. The food is fresh and expertly prepared with creative touches that enhance the flavor and presentation. I started with the scallops and my husband ordered the white peach gazpacho with pork belly. The scallops were plump and tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned along with tasty accompaniments. I had a spoonful of the gazpacho, which was also delicious as well as inventive. We went for a half size pasta course for primi. I had the Cassarecce with veal ragu, olives and capers and my husband had the Campanelle with ragu Toscana. They were both excellent, perfectly al dente and the sauces were sublime. My husband slightly preferred the Campanelle, however I couldn't pick a favorite. For secondi, I opted for the pork chop with broccolini, truffled potato terrine and red grape agrodolce, while hubby had the duck breast with parsnip puree, haricot vert and apple chutney. They were both superb, perfectly cooked with a wonderful interplay of flavors and textures, though the pork chop was outstanding, tender, juicy and flavorful. The vegetables were also delicious. We really wanted to try dessert but couldn't cram one in, even to share. Perhaps next time. I did have a nice decaf espresso to cap the meal. Larimar is a treasure. This is truly fine dining and while not inexpensive, it's a good value for the quality.
Always a pleasure to dine at Larimar. The food is excellent and the staff attentive.
We had an excellent meal. Everything was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant. A bit pricy but worth it. Truly enjoyed our dinner.
Our go to in Spring Lake for fine dining when guests visit. Never disapoints
Overall, enjoyable meal. Pasta was too al dente for my group. Attentive service.
Doesn’t disappoint. One of the favorites when visiting area. Fish dinners of salmon, halibut and clam sauce were prepared very well and enjoyable. Salad appetizers were generous and presented well. Oysters Rockefeller was a notch below par on flavor but nice presentation.
Desserts of strawberry shortcake variation and favorite fried dough beignets were terrific.
Recommend this Spring Lake favorite wholeheartedly.
A must visit every time we are in town. From the Burrata appetizer, Pastas, Pork Chop to the Affogato... Everything is exceptional.
Arguably the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. There was not a single flaw. Exquisite execution by the staff, and the kitchen.
Larimar’s is an outstanding restaurant for cuisine, ambience, service & hospitality. Nothing comes close to this restaurant at the shore.
Wonderful restaurant, pasta a little under cooked, appetizers and dessert were great.
The salad and appetizers were nicely prepared and presented. We had only pasta entrees and both were excellent. The waiters were attentive without being overly so. The price was very acceptable given the service and atmosphere.
I'm so happy to find this restaurant in Spring Lake! Excellent service and food.
I would highly recommend and I will be a regular!
Best Restaurant in the area...period. Elegant but not over the top, great food and great service!!
Larimar offers a good dining experience all around. Highly recommended.
My husband and I are proprietors of SaltWater Inn in Belmar. We made reservations for dinner with another couple. This restaurant is amazing. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. The restaurant decor is beautiful and tranquil. The staff is dressed to impress and the establishment is spotless. It was not just dinner out, but a complete dining experience.
Everything was excellent about our dinner except for the pace. The pace was a bit too fast. We would have preferred a little more time between courses. The food was excellent and the staff was extremely attentive.
Attentive service in a sophisticated setting. Nicely prepared food where the pasta is the star.
The best food down the shore. Maybe in all of Jersey. Every dish is exceptional and the service is top notch.
Wonderfully creative menu coupled with attentive, but not overbearing service. Always a special evening.
Creative and properly prepared food to satisfy every pallet. Had a vegetarian with us and even she went home stuffed. Two comments. Even though they have a bar out front, this is a BYOB. Plan ahead as reservations are a must.
Very good upscale restaurant in spring lake. Food is well prepared , service is excellent. BYOB which is fine for me - allows me to dig into my cellar. For a good one !!
Outstanding. A very pleasant experience. Flavors impeccable and portions just right
Really great evening. Excellent food and service. Nice that a shore restaurant has a dress code business casual is perfect.
This was an outstanding restaurant. The food was impeccably prepared. The service was outstanding. It was simply an excellent place to dine.
Larimar was absolutely on point. We had the Gazpacho, Arancini, Scallops, Halibut and Spaghetti al nero. Being from Italy, it is actually difficult for me to give positive reviews to Italian food, as it is very hard to equal to standards that I am used to in my country, but everything tonight was delicious. Our server was very attentive and nice, had great recommendations and was very precise. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed really great food. Will definitely come back!
Everything was excellent! The presentation is well done with great elegance. The blend of herbs and spices in the meals are exceptional. Not only are they delicious but they look beautiful. All of the staff members are helpful and very accommodating. I highly recommend Larimar. It is my favorite restaurant in Spring Lake.
This was my second visit to Larimar in the past six months and both were excellent. The wait staff is well trained, the food outstanding and the overall experience is one of the best in the Spring Lake area. Highly recommend.
