Larimar Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Not our first visit to this lovely restaurant, and certainly not our last. Food, service and decor are all exceptional. Waiter, Kevin, was knowledgeable and quietly informative without interrupting our dining experience. Larimar makes dining elsewhere is to settle for less.
It really doesn’t get much better than Larimar. We’ve been there a number of times and it continues to be an amazing experience. It’s rare to leave a restaurant time after time feeling that you just experienced a perfect meal...and it continues to happen each time. Thank you again for providing excellent service, memorable entrees, and an overall perfect evening.
This is the second time my wife and I have visited the restaurant and it’s amazing every time we visit. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Very accommodating and making sure you are enjoying yourself and your meal. It’s quiet and great for a date night or with a group of friends or family. Nice portion sizes of food. It’s a nice neighborhood gem in the Spring Lake, NJ area.
Dining at Larimar was a wonderful and special experience. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to family and friends. The service was impeccable and our servers were very attentive to our dining needs. The atmosphere was very chic and it reminded me of a trendy New York restaurant. The home made pastas were outstanding. The plush seating arrangements were so comfy and soft that I hated to get up and leave the restaurant. Larimar is a great restaurant for a special occasion and a holiday get together.
To start off, the food was delicious. So so portion size came with high prices. We thought the whole atmosphere was a little pretentious. The bread for the table was delivered by suited waiters delivering small pieces of focaccia and you got one piece at a time. Spring Lake is a very wealthy town and It appeared that the local swells were really given some special treatment. Business was so good that we were rushed out in order to turn over the table. My wife and I had three courses each and were done in an hour. We weren't even asked if we wanted coffee at the end of the meal. Like I said, the food was top notch, but other areas of our experience were sorely lacking.
We were hoping for so much more from a four star restaurant. Having read other reviews, we knew the portions would be smaller but for the high prices they were extremely small. First course, we had four very small oysters Rockefeller and scallops-tasty but less than an inch big. Second course, we shared a small plate of the spaghetti al Nero. The pasta was good but the shrimp was just a few small chopped up pieces. For the entree, one had Scottish salmon-this was the best dish of the evening-a perfectly cooked, moist, thick piece on black rice and bok choy. The other entree was terrible. A thin, small piece of mahi mahi, very overcooked. Sitting on roasted potatoes, trying to make it look like something on the plate. Dessert was 5 small beignets. Not bad. We were there on a Wed. night. We were the only ones there for the first 15 minutes then a few other parties came in. Nice music was playing softly. The booths are comfortable but the room smelled very musty. The service was very attentive and pleasant. Unfortunately, we cannot see ourselves going back to Larimar.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with a dear friend. We both were looking forward to being in beautiful downtown Spring Lake on a gorgeous September afternoon. We both were very pleased with our lunch at this new, upscale BYOB restaurant. Service was very professional and pleasant. We shared a delicious poached pear salad and each of us loved our lobster salad. Portions are not large and everything is a la carte. A bit pricey but overall a distinctive restaurant that I would certainly recommend and return to.
