Laredos Grill Ratings and Reviews
I had to branch out and try the brisket chili fries and I'm really glad I did. It's waffle cut fries, queso and a really excellent brisket chili. The chili packs some heat which I love but if you like mild it might be a little hot for you. Great service as always and a great happy hour.
For a 7 pm on a Saturday it was suprisingly uncrowded. We walked in to the smell of the meat on the grill - YUM. The food options were unique and excellent. I would watch out for the relleno's though - they are not made with Anaheim Chiles but a very spicy chile (they do tell you that on the menu; however, some people in our group did not read/understand the chile type). I had a chicken with chorizo and a cream sauce - it was delicious. They do not have an extensive beer list and were out of one of the IPAs on tap. The noise level was pleasant - you could feel a good vibe but still hear each other in a conversation.
I cannot remember who took care of me, yes took care of me. I had been traveling, touristing, etc. and I was tired and hungry. After a warm greeting I was given a cozy table near-ish to the bar, when I was immediately given water and asked if I wanted a drink. I love margaritas, so I was asked what I like. After mentioning my preferences, a recommendation was made, and a few moments later I had an incredible margarita before me. I ordered chips & salsa and carne asasda tacos. Talked and chit chatted with the lovely human for a bit and she brought me some additional guacamole, because she knew I was hungry. The tacos arrived shortly later. 3 generous tacos on homemade corn tortillas. I ate as much as I could, disappointed that I hit the food wall and couldn't shove more of these awesome things into my stomach. More friendly and fun banter with the lovely human, another margarita and I was full. When the check arrives, I am told that the chips & salsa were on her. This is a minor expense, $2.50 to be exact, but the cost of her kindness and generosity, priceless.
Happy hour is twice a day, reservations are absolutely required as it isn't a large space, but huge in heart.
I would come back next time with the wife and kids for sure, was looking for something close to my office and it was and furthermore I didn't know about this place until it was recommended by OpenTable, extremely friendly staff that helped navigate the robust menu also. Will definitely pop in again!
As former Austin residents, we had really hoped for a taste of home. The menu looked spot on, liked the ambience and miracle of miracles, they have queso!
Unfortunately, the food didn't meet the expectations. The queso, in particular, was a big let down. I had fajitas, which were reasonably good, the seafood relleno was tasty, but didn't rise to meet what Texans would expect.
The final shock came when we received the bill. Four margaritas, queso, and the two entrees were over $110.
Stopped in to grab some authentic tex mex which we cannot usually find in the NW. So glad we did. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Nice variety of beer on tap as well as bottles. Also a full bar with several craft in house cocktails. Will definitely be back.
The reason you'd go to Laredos is the food. It's a casual neighborhood Tex-Mex bar and very casual. The food was excellent. My wife had the Fajita Quesadillas and loved them. I had the Smoked Brisket Enchilada. The beef was incredibly tender and tasty.
If you like Margaritas, get the "hand-made" one. Much better than the standard call version.
