The food is good, the beef excellent but I felt too close from the tables and people next to my table so I could hear all their conversations and I did not know where to look because I did not want to seem like I am looking at them. So maybe the place is too small for so many tables.
Best duck confit ever. Neighborhood gem. Great wine list.
Romantic Valentine’s Day place to bring your significant other. Authentic French cuisine and everyone is so friendly
We go to here for all birthdays, anniversary and special nights
Our anniversary was a very special occasion and L’Ardoise did not let us down. The meals were excellent as was the service. The Restaurant is a little tight which caused some people to move tables but we got there early so it was not a problem for us. Overall this is a little neighborhood gem.
It had been awhile since we ate here and will definitely be back again soon! the food was delicious. the duck confit was perfectly cooked although could have used some salt. All potatoes were great. The special trio of asparagus was very good with ana excellent home made mayo. W e also were delighted with the cheese course and wine selections.
Neighborhood restaurant that never fails to provide well-prepared bistro standards and excellent service. The head waiter, cooks, chef and everyone you come in contact with here is simply committed to excellent service.
We go for special occasions. This time for our 44th anniversary.
I wish there were more restaurants like L’Ardoise. Consistently excellent food. My coco vin was one of the best I ever had. Trio of asparagus appetizer— delicious. And the service is always perfect—-hardly notice that everything is taken care of without ever having to ask. A true “dining experience” without the foam, the tweezer food, and ridiculous fanfare.
Always a fantastic experience and delicious food!!!
Great neighborhood spot. Everyone was so friendly, as dinner tables can be close together.
The asparagus starter (a mix of spears, shavings, and a mousse) was innovative and tasty. The hanger steak was reasonably tender with a classic red wine sauce. Overall, very good food if somewhat over salted. Service was brisk but efficient. A nice, comfortable spot to try every now and then.
Everything was wonderful and the service perfect. We were celebrating an anniversary. From appetizer to main to desserts were incredible. Thank you
Good food great service
My third time at L'Ardoise; a great neighborhood gem. The server was very friendly and accommodating. Food was very good. I have some food allergies that they had to work with; which they did happily.
I will absolutely go back.
We love L'Ardoise, it is the perfect neighborhood gem as well as a very romantic space. The food and the staff are always great.
Always the perfect meal, venue and experience.
We have dined here many times just as a duo (mostly) and also with friends. The experience is consistently superb ...excellent brussels sprouts salad, excellent hangar steak, FABULOUS floating island !!!
Visiting family from out of town
One of our many staple restaurants that we visit often when we’re in town! Love the ambiance and food!
Everything about the Food and Service was great, but our first table we were seated at was "FREEZING" despite the curtains being pulled from a windy and cold night....so we asked to be moved. I'd still go back...dinner and service was Amazing! thank you.
Outstanding 'neighborhood' French dining experience. Friendly clientele, excellent service, easy parking on Noe. Try it, you'll be happy you did.
Lovely experience, great service.
Great find. Wonderful food and staff. Our waiter Alexandre was really cool. We even got to know the people at the tables next to us. Fantastic vibe.
Really enjoyed the risotto and the tri-tip special. And the creme brule was to die for...
One of my go-to French restaurants in SF. I appreciate the quiet ambiance that a lot of San Francisco restaurants do not provide. It's a hidden gem.
Having frequented L'Ardoise for at least 10 years, it continues to be my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. The ambiance is like being in France at a neighborhood bistro. The service is fabulous and the food is consistently delicious. It would be hard to pick a favorite dish as they are all spectacular.
I highly recommended L'Ardoise.
Fuimos a festejar Año Nuevo y la cena fue espectacular además del excelente servicio. Pasamos una noche especial y divertida. Muchas gracias!!
I really do enjoy and love this place. New Years Eve meal was very good, however I enjoy ordering off the regular menu. Truly appreciate the food and staff.
Thank you L'Ardoise for a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner. Looking forward to more in 2020!
While L'Ardoise has been our NYE dinner tradition for 3 years, we think this year in 2019 the service has gone downhill a bit. Our server was jolly, but often spilled our champagne when pouring. Oh well, the ambiance is still there, a romantic, cozy little restaurant with a great wine menu, $25 corkage, and fun staff. Our entrees were wonderful (we chose the duck confit and mushroom risotto which are delicious staples of their NYE prix fixe menu), but the couple seated next to us chose the fish and steak and were highly dissatisfied (fish was not flaky, and steak was ordered medium, served rare, then re-served well-done, while the server didn't seem to understand why the diner was unhappy). For $320 for a dinner for two, we think we'll try another restaurant for our NYE celebration in 2020 but think L'Ardoise is still quite a notable French restaurant to try in SF.
Absolutely amazing food, amazing service, everything was wonderful!! Food was not only delicious it was Michelin stars quality!! Only one suggestion I would give is that instead of Italian style cold bread... serve authentic French croissants instead! It would be perfect French meal!
The food is excellent one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. I am traveling from Orange County, CA.
The good - a lovely dining room with tons of atmosphere in a charming neighborhood setting. The entrees are large enough for two, and come with potatoes and a small salad. Had we known that we would not have ordered 2 separate entrees and 2 appetizers (one of which was a salad). Two entrees and only if you have a big appetite, a non-salad appetizer to share would have been a better plan, or one entree and two appetizers.
The bad - potatoes, while tasty, are very rich and a bit too heavy with (truffle?) oil. You might be better off with french fries. Salads (including appetizer) were overdressed. I will request dressing on the side next time.
The very bad - Wait staff are cordial enough, but clearly favor the regular clients they recognize with immediate attention, a more friendly approach, and faster service. As for those they don't recognize, some menu guidance (particularly in regard to size of entrees) would have been appreciated.
We were on a date and everything was beautifully done well. The service was excellent and the was delicious. We will be back again soon.
Thank you for a great experience.
Great food and wine!
Busy busy but great energy and a no stress environment. Polished and professional and satisfying on every level. Just walk or muni don’t try to park
Definitely a gem!
We are so lucky to have this foodie gem in our own neighborhood. One of the best restaurants in San Francisco. Well worth a visit any day of the week.
