L'Ardoise Ratings and Reviews
We had a 6:00 pm reservation and almost every table was already full! We were seated promptly and our server greeted us quickly and remained attentive. We loved everything about this place. Friendly folks seated on both sides of us, a nice relaxed vibe, reasonable prices. My husband had the duck confit and I had the Wagyu flat iron steak. Both were superb! We can't wait to return.
Coming here is visiting the cuisine of France. So delicious, the welcome warm, lots of nice décor touches, and friendly helpful service. The menu has so many wonderful, tasty dishes, the pates are fantastic, the duck sublime, the fois gras divine.
The wine list, bottles and glasses, has some great choices.
Such lovely times here.
L'Ardoise has kept her high standards over the last year's, you can always depend on excellent service, excellent cuisine, and a fun atmosphere.
I have been to France many times and I believe that l'Ardoise is better than many Parisian restaurants.
I highly recommend them.
L'Ardoise is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. It has a great French / neighborhood vibe and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The menu has flavorful renditions of all the French classics - duck confit, steak frites, Coq a Vin, and more.
The lamb shank was delectable! And the scallops very flavorful. We go for our anniversary every year and it never, ever disappoints. The service is the best in the area, too, anticipating your needs without fussiness, but always warm, welcoming, and appreciative.
Quaint with fabulous French food. The flat iron steak with pomme frites and salad was excellent. My wife had the rack of lamb which was also fantastic. Many of the guests spoke fluent French with the staff, so it made you feel like you were in France. Can't wait to get back to San Francisco and do it over again!
L’Ardoise has been consistently excellent. I’ve just returned from three weeks in France and having dinner at L’Ardoise is just like being there, maybe better. Good food, an excellent ambiance, reasonably priced wine list, low noise levels. I have eaten here many times and I’ve always been very pleased with it, this time was no exception.
Quite an extraordinary evening...I had the rack of lamb and my husband, the sea bass. Both were perfect with just the right sauces to compliment, but not overpower the entree. Our waiter, Enaro (apologies for spelling); was a delight. Picked just the right wines for me and was most attentive and made the evening truly lovely. The place filled up by 7pm (I have tried twice to get make reservations), but remained quite enough for general conversation. I felt, for SF, the value was very fair for the high quality, authentic, delicious food & excellent service. Please note, if you think they are closed because the door seems locked, not to worry, just pull REALLY hard and voila the magic begins. Parking can be a bit dicey in Duboce Triangle. Very lovely evening and we will return soon.
Dropped off husband with cane while I looked for parking. I arrived at table to find waiter had put two glasses of champagne in fridge. He brought them out and welcomed me. It was our 44th wedding anniversary.
Had to have special of calamari grilled with olives on bed of greens. We always love their Tiger prawn ravioles. Both were divine. Hard to share but we managed.
I usually have Hangar Steak but we both had the Duck Confit. It was fantastic. There were only empty plates to gather.
All in all the service was superb from more bread to fresh silverware and checking on us. It was great to see familiar serving staff. I always feel there is great management when there is little turnover of staff.
We even shared not one but two Creme brûlée.
They even put a tiny candle in it.
Bravo. As usual well done. Have enjoyed many dinners here but this was one that we shall not forget.
We always come here for our wedding anniversary but were a little disappointed when they surprised us with a free desert that ended up being a plate whipped cream. We thought they were kidding, but no, lo and behold they actually intended for us to cap off our anniversary evening with a plate full of whipped cream. We were speechless. Would have been better to do nothing at all.
L'ardoise absolutely the best French restaurant in San Francisco. I tried to go there when I return from Paris. L'Ardoise is equally if not better then many Parisian restaurants.
I love how I am greeted at the door and at the end of the meal, I am wished a nice evening or weekend.
The menu is extensive, and it would be difficult not to find something that you would really enjoy. The wine list is interesting. . Such a nice evening, such gracious people, such high-quality food and service
Great ambience ! The staff greets each customer warmly and they are all professional in their serving, knowledge of great wines. Nice soft lights and the food is super tasty and all cooked so well!! Always have a great dinner there! You feel like you are in Paris!!
The whipped cream that came with the tarte tatin was not fresh, tasted really bad (the chef acknowledged). The night before, some friends of ours dined there and all got sick so something is going on with the freshness of the food. Too bad as the ambiance of this restaurant was really nice.
