Wow! This place is amazing! Nestled in a quiet and cozy neighborhood, L’Ardoise offers up delicious classic French fare. The tiger prawn ravioli was a delicious appetizer with 3 large pieces and the Coq Au Vin and the rack of lamb were delicious. Finished it all off with a bottle of Bordeaux and a sinful creme brûlée. They have a great and affordable selection of French and local wines. Outdoor seating makes for a nice and romantic dinner under the moonlight (there’s adequate lighting and heating). Sebastian was attentive and thoughtful with his service. Will definitely come back! And the staff speaks French too!
They’ve done an amazing job with the outdoor space. Got the lamb chops which were amazing.
I love this place! The food is always delicious everyone is so nice and its very beautiful the way they set up the outside seating.
Despite dining outdoors due to the Pandemic, the place was pretty quiet & serene. The staff was very accomodating & took really good care of us. & the food was superb!
Great service and amazing food!!
Incredible meal in such a quaint, charming neighborhood setting. Servers were amazing, as were the abundant heat lamps. Highly recommend!
I so much respect what servers 7 bartenders r doing COVID!
Even though we only had the option of outdoor dining, the service was fantastic and the food was phenomenal and fairly priced for the quality of food you are served. My husband and I had our favorite restaurant in Berkeley and had not found another restaurant to match it. Unfortunately that restaurant had to get sold to another owner due to the pandemic so my friend recommended this one and we are so glad she did! This is now our new favorite restaurant!! We ordered the tiger prawn ravioli and the fish stew special for the appetizer. The stew was delicious but the ravioli was out of this world good. For entree, we ordered the duck confit and halibut and both were delicious. If ordering dessert, the floating island dessert is a must! We had never tasted something so pillowy and delicious! Highly recommend and we will be back to this restaurant many times for sure.
Great to see them functioning well during Covid. Good outside space.
L'Ardoise had CHARACTER. Took my boyfriend here for a date and we were not disappointed. Every detail was perfect. Though outdoor dining is required, we still felt the comfort and the charm L'Ardoise promises. Come for the character and stay for the masterfully prepared food - it's simple, but checked every box.
One of my favorite restaurants in SF. Their ribeye and filet mignon steaks are cooked to perfection. I especially love the side of pommes frites (deep fried potato slices) that come on the side. I'm also obsessed with their mushroom risotto. I usually order this as a dish to split with the table in addition to the mains. For dessert I opt for the floating island and always a glass of their Banyuls port. I do not typically like ports, but this one is not too sweet and very smooth/delicious.
Always love coming here. The outdoor dining is even more charming than when we were eating indoors. The food is always great and the service is perfect.
They did a great job with the tables outside. Food and excellent service is still consistent, even though the circumstances we are living
L'Ardoise is the epitome of a correct, neighborhood restaurant that we would go in Paris, but in San Francisco. The staff members are expert and gracious, and the food and the wine list are so correct, as we say in French.
First time at L’ARDOISE since the pandemic. They have a very charming outdoor seating area set up. They are very focused on safety. And the food quality is still outstanding. Service excellent. They always make you feel so welcome.
My favorite restaurant in san Francisco. I always have a great experience and it is always a great price for the quality.
So great to have L’Ardoise back! We had a lovely outdoor dinner and it reminded us of simpler times. Can’t wait to go back.
Beautiful outside seating with a garden like atmosphere, tables set nicely apart, amazing food and attentive staff...
LOVE this place. It's the perfect little French restaurant with amazing food and great ambiance. The outdoor seating is fantastic and they have heat lamps as it starts to cool off. All around a great place to eat!
The food was stellar - simply must have the duck confit and the halibut.
The outdoor seating felt nicely distant and was a nice change of pace from the relatively smaller interior of the restaurant.
Excellent food and wine suggestions
It had been a few years since last dining here and can say I loved it as much as I did the last time I was there. I’m happy they were able to adapt to having seating outside. I will definitely be going back sooner and telling my friends to dine there.
Everything was perfect! I hadn’t been in awhile and was very pleasantly reminded of the outstanding quality of the food. Delicious! Excellent service and they somehow managed to maintain the warm, cozy, convivial ambiance outdoors and Covid-safe. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
This is a perfect embodiment of the classic French brassierie. The menu is focused, ingredients are fresh, locallly-sourced. The service is affable without being unctuous. The wine selection as small, but well-curated. Not a bad vineyard in the bunch. A consistent favorite.
Wonder if the chef is new as the food was not of the same quality as last time we ate there. Lovely outdoor seating and wonderful and attentive service. Please bring your delicious food back again. We will be back
My favorite restaurant in the city :) a slice a Paris on a quiet corner in the center of the city. From the ambiance to the food to the folks working - a really incredible experience.
Fantastic experience overall with great food great service and very safe outdoor dining!!
Romantic setting, excellent food
Ten years or so in, L'Ardoise is still firing on all cylinders, a flawless example of what a neighborhood restaurant can, and should, be. Even Covid-19 didn't slow them down for long; when able, they quickly moved the dining outdoors in a way that feels as Parisienne as the restaurant itself.
My partner and I have been coming here occasionally since the restaurant opened, and the quality of the experience has never waned. Even the take-out is done well.
Here's hoping the proprietors of L'Ardoise will keep it going for another decade or two.
Beautiful weather outside for dinner and that was our only choice at the time to to covid 19 restrictions. However they have a lovely outdoor dining area and the service was excellent. It was only our second time eating there and it didn’t disappoint.
Wait staff has adapted well to the outdoor experience. Food was outstanding and excellent wine recommendations from our waiter.
One of the waiters was a bit rude but otherwise a wonderful meal
L'Ardoise is one of my favorite place in SF, great ambience and delicious food.
The charm of this romantic restaurant has been kept as they've transitioned outdoors into the quiet block of Noe Street. The food remains delicious and the service is outstanding.
We could not have asked for a better evening. The food was superb! I could eat the Prawn Ravioli everyday and never get sick of it. The Duck Confit was to die for. The filet minion could be cut with a butter knife. Needless to say we will be back soon.
Amazing food and service with the accent to match!
Food was very good. As most restaurants have moved outdoors, it would have been a much better evening if they had figured out how to make better use of heat lamps. Noe can be quite windy and chilly.
Longtime favorite now has socially distanced sidewalk seating where we felt perfectly comfortable and sufficiently distant from the other diners. Food quality remains very high with bistro classics like duck confit and steak frites, and service is very attentive. Highly recommended.
Birthday! They surprised my husband with a candle. :)
