Haven’t been back since Covid until tonight. Dinner was magnifique. Seated outside in an enclosed street Parker with a heater was romantic. The food was superb (duck breast a l orange for me and a country risotto for my wife) snd a few glasses of unique wine selections was terrific. Finished with the best Iles Flotant anywhere. What a gem! Merci beaucoup
Returned after several years! The best experience in a parklet. Service was spectacular and food was out of this world! What a gem!!!
Charming restaurant on a quiet block of Noe. Salmon tartare, corn soup, halibut and duck confit were all well prepared and tasty. Service knowledgeble and attentive. Quiet, comfortable outdoor parklet was well heated on a 58 degree night.
Wines by the glass selection was small but good; larger selection of mostly classic French village wines.
We found parking a half block away mid-week.
The food here has always been top-notch. One feels they are dining in an authentic bistro in France. Waitstaff is always on point, filling wine glasses when necessary, clearing plates, adding more bread to the table, etc. The entire team at L'ardoise, from the Chefs to the front of the house run a very seamless operation. Bravo!
Presentation was magnificent.
The food was served hot and all the fresh ingredients and spices melted in my mouth. The wine pairing to the four courses was perfect.
Can’t believe we never heard of this place until reading an article on where to eat in the Castro area. Excellent food and service. We have a new favorite restaurant to go to when back in town.
Love this restaurant. Great food wonderful service in a beautiful space. Always a great meal. Reasonable prices too
Had a wonderful dinner experience at L'Ardoise. We ordered escargot and tomato salad for appetizers, and duck for the main entry. I loved everything about taste and presentation. Valrona flourless chocolate cake was to die for.
Stuff is super attentive and sweet. Will definitely be back!
L'Ardoise maintained the quality of its cuisine and service throughout the pandemic, and has begun serving again at interior tables. The menu on July 20, was like a classic l'Ardoise bistro menu with the excellent array of choices. Each dish was handsomely plated and presented, and everything was delicious. I applaud all the staff of l'Ardoise of maintaining their very high standards.
Great meal here. Looks like some new staff but food is same as normal - feels like a trip to Paris but no jet lag
It was a good restaurant, maybe even a great one but the temperature (sitting in the back) was 5 - 10 degrees too cold even with my coat on, and that detracted from the experience. Will try again on a warmer night.
This lovely French bistro is terrific. Our filet mignon was perfectly cooked as was the halibut. The Brussels sprout salad was inventive and delicious. The service was very attentive. They anticipated our needs. And we finished with a perfect tarte tatin. Superb all around. We will return soon.
Intimate restaurant with excellent French fare. Wife and I made reservations through Open Table and were promptly seated. They do not have a full bar – we began with kier royale which was excellent. For appetizers, wife had their special tomato salad, which was excellent; I had their soup of the day (mushroom) which was quite tasty, and the escargot, which had an interesting green sauce encased in fried potato cups – this was intriguing and delicious but I wished there were more escargots (I think there were 3 or 4). The main courses were the most outstanding- rack of lamb for wife, and the duck confit for me. They were perfectly cooked, and had wonderful flavor and sauce, though wife wished there was a bit more sauce on the lamb. We shared the floating island for dessert which was quite creamy and delicious. The service was reasonably prompt and attentive, and the glass of red wine he recommended was excellent. Of note is that this is a rather small and intimate restaurant, and the gentlemen in the next table started a conversation with us which was welcome as they had very similar tastes as us concerning gourmet restaurants. Overall a quite satisfactory dining experience.
Food was incredible, it brought me back to my country, France. I highly recommend and I will go back for sure!
Excellent service. Tasty food. I would be glad to return
This charming neighborhood French restaurant is ideal for a romantic date. The staff and most of the patrons are French, which makes it even more fun. We ate shrimp raviolis with a delicious cream sauce and salmon with an amazing mushroom and spinach risotto. Paired with a crisp white burgundy and finished off with a flourless chocolate cake. More traditional than innovative, but oh so tasty.
Nice friendly waiter, good food, felt like a little jaunt to France. Only caveat is, despite making a reservation well in advance and asking for a nice table to celebrate a special occasion, we were seated in front of the open door and were freezing. Fastest good food I’ve ever had.
Our first time there and it was a hit! The staff are friendly and attentive in just the right measures! The food spectacular! It's a popular and somewhat small place so getting reservations as far in advance is a necessity! Superb!
The staff was amazing!!!
We loved our meal and couldn’t rate it higher. Perfect ambience, delicious food and great wine. What more could you ask for?
It’s always a pleasure to celebrate a special occasion at our favorite neighborhood bistro, but last night was extra special because it was our first time dining there since they’d reopened for indoor dining. There are never any surprises at L’Ardoise: my husband’s duck confit and bacon-fat fried potatoes was as rich and decadent as ever, and my hanger steak, a perfect medium rare with its delicious sauce and crispy fries with aioli were as wonderful as I’d remembered them. The tart tatin was a perfect sweet ending to our meal. Service was warm and professional as always, if a bit slower than usual due to them serving a full house inside and and outside at 6 pm on a weeknight!
A wonderful meal, delicious food and great service. A charming neighborhood place with unpretentious, but exquisite French food. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone!
Always a great meal and service! Never disappoints. Can't wait to go back!
We enjoyed our meal. Mushroom soup and filet mignon and duck confit. With the floating island. One of the few places that has floating island
Wish they had more high chairs
My wife and I were staying at a nearby VRBO. We made a reservation for this place after walking by. The food and service were good and very reasonably priced. Nice neighborhood find
Amazing! Our food was incredible. The service was beyond fantastic. We couldn’t have imagined a more dreamy setting. Thanks for everything! Highly recommend anything on the menu in regards to food and wine. You can’t go wrong!
Wonderful evening and a beautiful setting.
Wonderful food in casual neighborhood
loved my first experience inside for 14 months
i loved everything
a highlight of this year
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. Food is great and service excellent. A favorite in SF.
Wonderful experience, food was superb
It was so cold we could not stay for desert. The food was not what we expected and we were disappointed. Given the outside space being open this place has not lost it's quaintness as expected given the beautiful outside of the building. I will research recent reviews to find places to eat from now on.
They are doing a great job in uncertain times where restaurants are forced to provide service in an outdoor setting. We'll be back to support the great job they are doing.
We Had a really nice time. Escargot was very different but super good. We had charcuterie as well. I had the rack of lamb, everyone else had steak. We all enjoyed everything. Our waiter also recommended some great wines, too. This little quiet corner snuggled in a cute neighborhood have it a real bistro feel.
As always amazing! This is our go to place for great French food... the staff is so friendly... and food is always perfect!
They have done a nice job spacing tables with plant dividers due to covid.
It’s so nice that they have reopened...
Outstanding food, wine, and service. We will definitely come back.
Great service and good!
Absolutely fantastic restaurant all around. Atmosphere, great food, attractively priced wine list, and absolutely terrific service and attitude. Both inside and outside are very attractive options.
The Ambiance changed since the last time I was there
We sat outside in a very stark parklet
The plants that had been there were removed and the table cloth was missing
the staff are very friendly but felt I was eating in a very sparce environment
