The house cured salmon was delicious and the 'Nduja & rocket pesto topped pizza was fantastic. Finished our meal with a scrumptious buttermilk and cherry ice cream. Over all the staff were friendly and helpful. And the food was delicious. Definitely well worth another visit!

First of all this is a lovely little place, was packed to the rafters and had a great ambience. We had a pizza and pasta and while the pizza went down very well I didn't enjoy the pasta sauce much at all. Can't win them all, I would give it another try!

The restaurant is lovely as well the atmosphere and the service. We were welcomed by staff and they looked after us throughout our time there particularly as we had our child with us who is nearly two. We had pizza encouraged by the fact that the restaurant has a wooden fire oven. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed as the pizza was average and the look of it wasn't too inviting in my opinion. There are many places in London now where you can have a nice pizza almost like in Naples and Lardo needs to up its game.

It wasn't my first time at this restaurant and it used to be one of my favourites, however, this last time my experience was quite disappointing. The fish that I had for my main was so bony that I couldn't finish it. I'm fine for the fish not to be filleted, but in this instance it was just too much of a hard work to eat it. The music was very loud too and it was difficult to have a conversation. I was on a date, and it was my suggestion to pick Lardo... unfortunately, a suggestion that I regret as spending most of the time deboning the fish and having to shout over the music doesn't make for a very romantic atmosphere. The service on the other hand was quite good.

Lardo's one of those trendy new Hackney places. Bare brick, exposed ducts, bare wooden floor, big glass windows, and beards. Loads of beards. The food's interesting, based loosely on salami and Italianate ideas (salt cod with crispy polenta, mackerel with red cabbage, pigeon with grilled chicory. Good strong tastes and not expensive. Wine is even more interesting with some spooky ideas that even get you scribbling down the names to see if Majestic's got them (they won't have). It's lively and packed, as opposed to the place next door which is empty. People are having a great time. But what most of them are not doing is talking. The noise levels are just daft. Clattery hard surfaces and glass make for amplification rather than sound deadening. The tired looking waitress had to bend right down to hear our shouted order into her ear. To be heard by your companion opposite you have to lean in to them and yell. As everyone has to do this it makes for an unbearable and bizarre din. Some would call it fun, but a lot of diners looked to have given up the fight and had settled down to eat and not try to talk. I once heard that pubs play loud music to make conversation hard so you had a few drinks and got so tired you had to leave with your ears ringing. Perhaps that's Lardo's strategy, using noise to turn the tables. The four of us looked at each other and, as locals within walking distance and the Hackney Picture House looking for another regular caff regretfully shook our heads. Nice, but just too noisy.

As I live above Lardo Bebe, never had an urge to go to Lardo, but last Sunday took my Belgian Friend for lunch & it was beautiful. Nice lil salami meat and olives to start with & beautiful mains, portions on a bigger side. Very affordable price. The service was just flowing, super friendly and attentive. We didn't stay for dessert sadly, as we were in a rush, but I will be definitely back regularly. Great place and I recommend it very much.

First visit to Lardo, chosen for its proximity to Hackney Empire where we were seeing a show, but if i didn't live on the other side of London, it would be on my list of favourite places to eat. Food outstanding, ditto staff. I don't usually eat three courses, but it would have been crazy not to!

I went to Lardo with 3 other people this past Friday night. We had a round of drinks (beer & wine) that were tasty, and we also shared some decent starters including burrata and some charcuterie. Unfortunately we found 3/4 of our main courses to be disappointing; they all lacked seasoning and tasted very bland. This included 2 pizzas (the lardo/spinach/egg pizza, and the pumpkin/ricotta/chili flake pizza) and the bolognese. Salt helped them to taste better, which made me wonder if our plates somehow missed the final seasoning check, but even so, it was still a pretty boring bite of food. We also didn't know why they didn't mention the lack of tomato on either. We were both disappointed at the lack of tomato sauce but didn't think the norm was to ask- normally it's specified. The only exciting dish was my partner's seafood risotto.

Style over substance. Food is unseasoned and unbalanced. We ordered many small plates and the only one worth ordering was the Salt Cod. Don't bother with the pigeon, the fennel, the artichoke. The meat and burrata are decent. The pizzas were average. Homemade ice cream was nice.

We had dinner for two on valentine's day and it was a good overall experience. The pizza was very yummy, and service was great, and the ambience was quite nice. The tables are packed quiet close to each other -- so if you don't like that, then this place is not for you. The staff were great and the location is good. No complaints, will go back again.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants i have dined at in London. Every dish was as superb as the last. It was unfussy traditional italian food executed perfectly. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The chef was late with the tuna tartar special so gave us a large instead of a small to make up for it. I had an excellent negroni at the beginning also.

Went to Lardo several times and I am a fan of their dinner menus (as an Italian I can say they do good authentic Italian recipes, often with an interesting twist). If you're looking for original brunch dishes it's the place to go - they're no longer doing the amazing meatball-scrambled eggs combo, but the pancakes are great and the carbonara is perfect if you want a BIG sized meal.

We had a really lively dinner at Lardo on New Year day, we were actually the first guests of the year! I'm Italian and my friend greek and we bouth found the salumi incredibly good, I really thought they were from Italy! My friend had the spaghettu with the ragù, really good even if that is not a ragù for us. If you expect mince meat and traditional ragù you'll be disappointed. But when the flavour is that good do you really care about the style of the meat? I had a wonderful pizza with 'nduja and fiordilatte. Outstanding! Also point for the Boozy chinotto, so delicious!! The servic is attentive but not intrusive, only feedback: maybe change th beautiful water carafes so the staff doesn't hve to look inside to check is there is still water. Thanks Lardo, we had an amzing begin of the year!

Lardo's food is consistently excellent but every time I go they have run of something I want to order - that's why my ratings are 4 rather than 5 star. On one hand, that tells a positive story but really they should get this right. Lardo is a specialist salumeria so running out of fennel salami is not on! But I do recommend it highly - and I'm a committed foodie who is half Italian so I do know good Italian food from bad. The atmosphere is also great - always buzzing, always busy - so be sure to book!

This was my second visit to Lardo and the menu was drastically different. It has been over a year since I've been but the menu has been drastically simplified into a more pizza/pasta affair. Don't get me wrong, the standard is still very high and the staff are nice and friendly. They still have the salumi options but if you don't go for a pizza or pasta things get pretty pricey, my veal chop was over 20 quid. However for denizens of Hackney this is perhaps a drop in the ocean and the place was buzzing with trendy types and the odd young family too and people were queuing for tables. They are obviously playing to the crowd and it's working.

I liked the restaurant until last time we went there. Service was pretty tricky recommending just expensive things for no reason with wrong info like telling is "locally" or etc.... It's shame good restaurant became getting worse after getting popular... I hope it will change cos it's at nice location from us...
