Loved the jazz, filet, and dessert! You must try the Godiva mouse cake. The restaurant was a little warm. Food portions were not too small or too much.

My GF and I were visiting DC for the weekend from Philly and staying at a hotel in Pentagon City. LaPorta's hit our radar when looking for a local place to dine on Saturday night. We enjoyed our food and thought the prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes just right. Our table was in a good location but we both said afterwards that we wished they dimmed the lights lower the whole time like they did when the 3 piece jazz band started. We felt like we were under a spotlight with the brighter lights. Our server was pleasant but didn't seem that informed about the menu. After dinner, we walked around town to enjoy the beauty of Alexandria. Overall, this was an enjoyable meal and we will definitely consider dining here again when our travels bring us back to the DC area.

Good jazz is only why one might go there. Food is not good. Fish I ordered did not taste like fish or anything and service is bad.

This was my third or fourth visit to Laporta. I will continue to go back there. Food is great, service is as good or better than I've had anywhere. A very pleasant place to enjoy a special meal.

food is a little pricey for the quality. The server tried to "upgrade" our drink order by suggesting higher price brand liquor. Music was great but made conversation difficult.

Great as always. Our favorite local neighborhood hot spot. Food wine service is always excellent and the jazz combo adds to a pleasant evening. Don't change a thing. We love it here.

This restaurant is very conducive to relaxation. Four of the 6 in our party had the French toast and found it very delicious and filling! I had the wonderful Mesclun chicken salad; it was loaded with dates which made it even better. The 6th person enjoyed her dish as much as the rest of us did ours.
Service was excellent and not at all obtrusive. Water glasses and coffee cups were kept full almost without our noticing it.
The best part was the lemon tarts which are made using the late Mrs. LaPorta's recipe. They remind me of my grandmother's!
My spouse and I first came to LaPorta's in 1985 shortly after it opened. The decor is always fresh and the food excellent.

We LOVED our food (both had the lobster bisque with a side of fettuccine), and appreciated how attentive our wait staff was despite a very busy evening.

That said: we sat outdoors, and there were a LOT of cobwebs next to our table, which is already pretty gross, but then we noticed the giant honkin' spider. That wasn't so cool.

As always the food was terrific. We both had the seafood crepe. There was a very accomplished solo pianist providing light cocktail jazz which added to the ambience.

La Parota's is one of the best kept secrets in Old Town. Nowhere else in town can you enjoy a great meal, listen to live music and still enjoy a private conversation with your dinning companion. I have never been disappointed by the food. The servers are friendly, know their menu, and give solid recommendations. The Satin Doll trio that plays at 7pm on Friday evening offers a great selection of 'torch' songs that give the restaurant a romantic flare. Makes you wish there was a small dance floor so you could dance cheek to cheek. Parking is easy and free. Strongly recommend that you give is a try!

Was not satisfied with my visit. Tuesday is Wine Tuesday, we got there at 4:30 and we were told it does not start until 5:30. Nowhere on the listing does it show a time. Also, we had a coupon for buy one dinner get one free on the patio, that didn't start until 5:30 also. It was not stated anywhere.

We were a group of six, four from out of town. Found on Open Table while looking for an Alexandria restaurant with a menu balanced between seafood and non-seafood because one person had seafood allergy. Noticed from reviews there was live jazz and thought there might be a little ambiance-and there was! Food was delicious, well presented and professionally served. The place looks pretty ordinary perhaps even Spartan. Don't let the looks fool you. This is a top-notch restaurant. It is right next to the residence inn. You won't be disappointed.

This is a great little restaurant hidden in the midst of office buildings. Perfect location for a business meeting or private dining as noise levels are low, and there's plenty of room between tables. The food is outstanding.

The waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food (special of the day was swordfish and the cod) were fantastic. (Note - My mother got the cod - it would have been much too sweet for me.) The wine was good. The music was wonderful and didn't keep us from being able to have a conversation. My only complaint is that the very delicious tirimisu was outrageously expensive (nearly $12!!!) It wasn't on a menu, so we didn't see the price. Other than that, a wonderful experience. I'll certainly go again, but next time I'll skip the dessert.

Excellent as always. We enjoy Laportas and they have never disappointed us. The salmon and linguine was awesome and my wife's shrimp with mushrooms encroute was incredible. And as always Margaret's desserts are to die for save room. Then the jazz combo adds to the overall 5 star evening. Thank you Laportas. Highly recommend to all.

We dine here 8 to 10 times a year. The menu is large enough to satisfy everyone, the preparations are nicely if not spectacularly done and the live music is a wonderful addition to the evening. The noise level is generally low, and tables are spaced so you're not part of another party's conversation.

They often run special pricing events. Overall a good value for a comfortable experience.

Not my first time at Laporta's, but first time with my husband.
While we had a reservation, we were met with frowns & concerned looks from the hostess who then seated us right in the entrance path...I requested another table, but was told that was all there was.
The food was fine, the service sketchy & no recognition of the fact that it was my 77th birthday which I had indicated when making the reservation. Didn't necessarily want a sing-out (which did happen while we were in the restaurant) but SOMETHING! Our waiter seemed unaware when it was mentioned & offered us a coffee "on him" which we declined.
The saving grace was the pianist, who worked his magic throughout our dining experience...worth trying again just for him!!

Excellent quality of food. Very tasty and well presented. The service was slow but, my husband and I were not concerned since we were enjoying the music and our conversation. The waiter, when he brought our bill, comped our first two drinks since he felt bad the service was slow. We were impressed that they were so attentive!

Absent him everything else was great. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. I really recommend this place. I will definitely return.
