Best eggs Benedict in the world
Looks and felt dated, food was not great for the $$
Perfect!! Food amazing. Piano was amazing too.
Great location next to our hotel. Had recommendation from friend
Lovely restaurant with friendly service, delicious food, and live jazz music! Incredible ambiance and wonderful overall experience. Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town!
Attentive and personable service. The entrees were top notch and the dessert was out of this world.
Wasn’t what I was expecting but it was a wonderful place to eat. Our waiter was very attentive but I feel bad because he lots his keys, sorry about that dude.
Good was fantastic and my steak was cooked exactly how I like it. But….and my only but, music was great but way to loud. I felt as if I had to talk loud for the waiter to be able to hear me.
Frankie, our server, was amazing and knowledgeable of the menu and the history of the restaurant. The pianist was SO talented that we dined longer than expected just to hear him play!
We’ll be back for sure. It was a wonderful choice for date night.
We selected LaPorta's for a special birthday celebration. The jazz pianist was amazing and the food and service was impeccable.
Laporta's is a delightful place to eat. The live music, creates a wonderful, intimate atmosphere, and the food is always fabulous!
Dinner with out-of-town friends was made special by the superb food, service, and live music. Laporta's is our go-to place for any special dinner.
Lori and Nina are fantastic - food is good too😎
I've been to Laporta several times and the food and service never disappoints!!!
The musical trio was wonderful music for dining. Good music that did not override talking. The food was well-prepared and tasted good. Dessert was especially awesome, tiramisu with Kahlua and chocolate whiskey cake.
Food was excellent and delivered hot! Waiter was a little indifferent. Forgot which wine I ordered had to ask again which one, and forgot we asked for bread!! Not really a big deal because everything else was excellent. Jazz quartet was great and because of the great acoustics in the dining room we could carry on a conversation comfortably even sitting in one of the closest tables. This is definitely our date night spot. Parking convenient also.
Went during Restaurant Week. Staff seemed overwhelmed for Saturday night service. Also, live music too loud in a confined dining area. Luckily, we were back far enough that we could talk to each other without raised voices. Food was decent, service was not great. Drinks overpriced. Disappointing...I have lived here all my life and never had been there. It has been around forever so I was expecting more.
Food was excellent; jazz music was nice. Wait staff was good. Service was a little slow at dessert time and they forgot my husbands coffee, but considering all they have had to deal with during COVID, that was not unexpected. We have never had a bad meal there. Love the free covered parking too.
Fortunately this was not our first dining experience at Laporta’s Restaurant. This occasion was disgraceful! First, we arrived at 4:45 pm when were greeted by an unpleasant hostess. As we had no reservation, she said no seating was available in the dining room. I quickly opened my “Open Table” app and found i was able to make a reservation for two at 5:00pm. She continued to argue, I should her my app confirmation and asked she relook at her reservations.
We were seated, told we had until 6:15 pm to eat our meal before the next reservation was to arrive. The tables weren’t set. There was nothing on the them. No silverware, salt, pepper,candle/flowers, etc.
The server, Riley, arrived. He seemed annoyed with my menu questions. He took our drink order. I ordered red sangria-it was delicious! My friend drank water. We placed our dinner order: chicken fettuccini and a Greek Salad. Meals delivered, no offer of ground pepper girly salad; no offer nor did Riley bring a basket of bread. As I couldn’t locate our server, I went to the hostess stand to request pepper. She (not the hostess that greeted us) brought a pepper mill to our table and applied to my salad. Upon approaching a different server, Frank, he brought Us bread. Both entrees were delicious. *Note: no sight of our server after he delivered our meal.
When he finally showed, there was no offer for dessert or coffee. He cleared our plates and brought the check. When we left, there were a total of three tables seated, including ours.
As the server did not return to gather our final payment, I located the manager and shared our unpleasant dining experience. She appreciated my feedback and was very apologetic.
Yes, we will return. And will request Frank for our server. Clearly he enjoys what he does.
A return visit. Excellent service. Great cocktails. And our meals were perfect. Loved the patio experience.
The best part was the live jazz music. Overall not bad. Some great Mac and cheese I wasn’t expecting.
It's Restaurant Week in Alexandria and Laporta's $49 for two menu posted on the website was nowhere to be found on the menus provided at the table. I asked the waiter and he acknowledged that they did have the advertised $49 menu available, but it seemed a little unethical that folks walking in off the street would not see that option at the table.
I would return but would not choose the halibut--a bit overcooked, but the rest of the meal was good. The service was not very good--we had to wait for silverware, bread was delivered well after meal started, server just ok. We sat outside which was nice; noticed that many diners seemed like regulars which is a plus; hostess was very nice; ambience was good. Interested in going again.
Food was excellent and Alexandria Restaurant Week lunch menu was a good value. Service was spotty this occasion.
We did a party of 3 Restaurant Week Lunch on Sunday - we had an outside table.
The weather was fabulous as well as the 3 course Lunch. The meal was well presented as well as delicious. Well prices at $22.
The only issue was we all felt that the service should have included a table placemat to place your dining utensils.
Love the food - husband always has the pasta de mare. I’ve tried several things - so hot the last two times, I had the Greek salad - delicious with pork. The bruschetta with goat cheese was also very good. Our neighbors outside were very loud, and our server was not present after we were served.
It was restaurant week. Nice selection on the prix fixe menu. We chose to sit outside on a warm but pleasant summer evening.
Have been here previously and loved it. Came for restaurant week to introduce a new friend to LaPortas. Experience this time was great except for the noise. Couldn’t hear the live musicians and we weren’t even all the way to the back. We could barely hear ourselves. Maybe some new sound absorbing tiles could work? The waiter kept asking me questions but if I was turned away from him I didn’t even know he was talking to me. I felt bad when a companion told me after that the waiter had been talking to me but I’d been ignoring him (completely unintentional!) Food however was superb on all counts as was the service. We’ll come back !
Great food, excellent service. We had the Restaurant Week lunch menu, which allows you to choose from any of the entrees and desserts on their regular menu plus a starter salad or soup of the day. The soup of the day was a corn and chicken soup that was excellent. All of our entrees (there were four of us) and desserts were wonderful.
What an amazing lunch experience! Shawntay was an excellent server. The food was delicious. My first time there, but I’ll be back.
This restaurant never disappoints! The food is always delicious, the service is fantastic and the live jazz music is lovely.
A wonderful experience at a great value during restaurant week!
Excellent food and service. I travel to DC area once a month or so and make it a point to dine here each time. Varied specials, excellent wine list and superb staff. I am partial however to Pasta Laportas…it’s a delicious house specialty! My highest marks….
Such a local gem! Dinner is simply sumptuous, and the weekend brunch was sooooo good! All with some light Jazz to keep the mood warm. We will be back, and regularly.
My oldest friend (60 years of friendship) and his wife were visiting from NY. They equally share a love for "the Great American Songbook" and his a fine musician on his own right.
Seeing and hearing Steve Washington was an extra special addition.
Great time had by all.
Excellent, attentive service and food was exceptional.
Thank you for keeping live music going
Laporta’s never disappoints. The food is consistently superb as is the staff.
Laporta’s never disappoints! Cocktails, food, server...all excellent.
The service was good, the jazz combo playing was very nice, but food was just okay. We were shocked considering the reviews and the price of some of the items.
We were there for a surprise birthday brunch our server was very amazing, food was excellent including the desert and we had amazing time, we also enjoyed the live music.
