Beautiful evening for sitting outside; great service by Camille! Owner and staff very personable! Beer was great and enjoyed the beer talks by Clay! Great pairings!
Loved this restaurant, excellent service and the food was amazing! A great place - highly recommend it!
Laporta never disappoints. The food is delicious, portion size is really good and service is outstanding
Everyone was 60 or older. Food was not impressive. The decor was sad.
The live music was outstanding and the food is always 5 stars. We need to come here more often.
We had a fabulous time. Camille was a wonderful waiter and the live music was the best. We will be back next time in town!!
Great value for Restaurant Week- good food and service. We will be back.
If you're in Old Town, plan to have lunch at Laporta. The food and service are excellent. Just a couple of blocks from King Street. Alexandria Restaurant Week is a perfect time to sample the fantastic food. You'll want to go back.
Very nice dinner experience great service and really great waiter he knew the menu and very attentive. Live jazz music was very enjoyable.
Surprised that restaurant week dinner at La Portas was better than we had encountered in other more highly rated restaurants.
My husband and I really like the food, the music (the group was excellent), but it was a little noisy.
Food was awesome!s Service very good. We came during restaurant week and were happily surprised to learn we could have any entree on the menu (upcharge for the filet, of course) for the special price. Will definitely recommend it and come again even though we live in NJ.
Excellent Food and Service. The Monday and Tuesday specials are great! Also loved that it was a participant in Restaurant Week-2019! Great Value for Great Food!. Service and ambiance (with jazz piano) couldn't be beat! Enjoyed dinner with friends and walked away looking forward to the next time we meet there. Couldn't have been better!
Went for restaurant week and enjoyed the trout. Nice Caesar salad with tiramisu dessert. Nice ambiance with a piano player nightly and a singer on Friday/Saturday. Noise level was pretty high but we still could chat. They have a special on Monday Tuesday evenings year round. Nice neighborhood ambiance.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. One of our favorite places, however, it is overpriced and the only way we will return is when there are special rates or offerings.
We enjoyed the Monday and Tuesday special and were able to obtain a Gluten Free meal in the process. Our server was Frankie. He was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. My wife’s fish was bland but my chicken was quite good. We would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
The food was phenomenal! We enjoyed the lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, and the pork belly to start. Pork belly was tender and very flavorful! Wonderful flavors! And then we had the pork schnitzel with stewed tomatoes, an unusual combination but fabulous! The stewed tomatoes were tender and so flavorful with a slight spice to them. Cheese raviolis were great!
the food is always exceptional at LaPorta's and out waitress was so professional and courteous...I believe her name was Mimi or Temi or something.
The food is good, sometimes quite good, the service is OK (very good with Frankie), but what keeps us coming back is the music -- jazz without having to drive into DC!
We are frequent visitors at Laporta’s and this time was not quite up to par. The food, while good, was not quite there. We both had Ahi Tuna and it was served medium versus rare as desired. We had to twice ask for the price of their specials that evening and had to ask for their wine list. Normally, you would be provided bread or rolls with your salad and this time we had to request it. Bottom line, the wait staff impacted the overall rating. They were courteous and well mannered, but needed a bit more training to be up to standard.
Good food & good for conversation. Fine service.
Terrific as always! We were there early, so it wasn't as noisy as it could be. I had the hangar steak. Fantastic!
Great jazz music with guitar, standing bass and singer. Singer had a little white dog who sat on a mini sofa on top of the piano
Food was great. Our waitperson was great also.
Amazing food and service. I am very impressed, will definitely come back here.
Very good food quality and variety. The meals are slightly over-priced. Dinner for 2 with 1 glass of wine, 1 beer and no dessert was $100. The jazz trio and their playlist was a nice blend with the ambience. The server could have been more attentive particularly because the restaurant wasn’t full. I will return on a Monday or Tuesday evening.
Always have a good dinner at Laportas.
Our server Frank was awesome as always. Thank you. 😃
Our server was fantastic (Nina). Food was prepared in an excellent and delicious manner. Music was excellent - highly recommend going to the restaurant. But make reservations.
From several years of experience, Laporta's can be relied on to deliver ample portions of well-prepared, tasty food, with cordial, attentive service, accompanied by enjoyable live music -- without a cover charge!
Anniversary dinner great music excellent food
We love Laporta’s! The food is always prepared correctly, the sauces are second to none, and the music really really enjoyable.
We particularly enjoy listening to our favorites, Sharon Clark, Steve Washington, and The Satin Doll Trio. (We consider it a super-bonus evening when pianist Vince Evans and bassist Eric Glaser perform!)
Love the jazz and good food dishes, but would love to see the sea scallops make a return to the daily seafood offerings. Would also love to see the website updated to better reflect who is performing on a given night. Otherwise always a good night out.
The food was delicious- fresh ingredients and well prepared. The service however was uneven at best. Our waiter was very friendly and chatty but that doesn’t make up for inattentive service. When we ordered a bottle of wine he spoke at length about how goidour choice was but the white wine was not properly chilled and he never refilled our glasses during dinner. When it came time for dessert he raved about the peach cobbler which we would have ordered but, after 20 minutes waiting for him to take the order we asked for the check. Familiarity and chit chat from a server, no matter how well intentioned, are no substitute for good performance.
Food was good; crouton on bisque stale; Arnold Palmer horrible; pasta Laporta excellent. Great bruschetta and calamari. Lovely hostess; server had a bit of attitude, which everyone at table noticed. The job was clearly beneath him. Godiva cake was superb; peach cobbler was yuck. Heated by being microwaved, which just made it so piping hot, it couldn’t be eaten for a while, and when it could, the crust was just mush. Won’t be ordering that again.
The service was a little slow for the lunch hour. Staff is very friendly and the food was excellent.
Pork schnitzel was incredible and the carrot cake was hands down the best I have ever had.
Always good to be welcomed back by the wait staff who know us... food was good, ambiance and weekend music was nice, tho took some time to get the check as we were headed to the Alexandria fireworks.
We were celebrating our mutual 56th anniversaries on a Saturday night, two couples of a certain age and era. We were served tenderly and graciously with delightful sangria, four different entrees and two shared desserts. Plenty of bread and butter and ice water were readily available. With a contiguous parking lot and a step-free entrance possible, it was the perfect place for us . Both couples had lived around the world with much excellent dining experience in our repertoire — the food and presentation was lovely. The live music provided a mellow soundtrack. Smiles all around from those practitioners of 112 years of marriage.
The excellent menu is always changing, always amazing. Always totally loved anything I've ordered. The service is superb. They have live music (jazz bass fiddle and piano). The noise level was a little high, but not too bad this time. When the room is full, sometimes it gets a little much. The free parking in Alexandria can't be beat! They do have outside seating, but we opted not to sit there, because it's super close to busy Duke Street - the car noise and fumes didn't seem appetizing.
This is a neighborhood favorite with awesome Jazz nightclub after 6:00pm. Everything is outstandingly excellent about this wonderful eating establishment except for the Tomato Lobster Bisque. Even though the Bisque is very - very tasty, it lacks the actual bits of lobster - and they charge you $11.00 dollars for a bowl that is only 1/3 full.
